Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 31, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. Are Diplomats impartial? Probably about as much as new reporters are. Should they be? It actually would be a good trait to develop.
Tuesday, December 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. And yes, there is always a consequence to Diplomacy. But I would like to suggest that there are also consequences, to the LACK of Diplomacy.
Monday, December 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, December 29, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. So, bringing in our Theme, I do NOT believe that we're "supposed to" eliminate Diplomacy. Instead, it might be better to eliminate what gets in the way of Diplomacy (including, but not limited to War and Mayhem).
Sunday, December 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, December 28, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. And what better kind of Diplomat (our Theme), than one who can take care of him/herself?
Weekly Theme: Week of 12/28/2014 to 01/03/2015
The Theme for this Week is Diplomacy. This Theme is actually similar, to one, three weeks ago, Mediation. But, according to Wikipedia, Diplomacy has more to do with the relationship between countries, though it can, more informally, relate to negotiation, using a neutral source, between two parties (including, of course, political parties) of a dispute. The "neutral source" is, of course, called a Diplomat.

Word for the Day: Saturday, December 27, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. And my take, on relating this to our Themes, is to take into consideration what the other party is contributing to the conversation. In other words, truly listen! Expand into the point of view of the other person (or other people). On the other hand, our Word also relates to the current, holiday time period, as there is a temptation to enjoy so much delicious food, that the "middle of the body" expands. Be careful!
Friday, December 26, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, December 26, 2014
The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. And ALL connotations of our Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue) have strong trust implications. Very strong. For example, in the "usual connotation" of the first term in the Theme, if you are lying about, say, your health, sexual contact could forever change the life of your partner. So be careful, as Trust must be earned, and Faith shouldn't be blind.

Word for the Day: Thursday, December 25, 2014
I made a mistake, yesterday, when I first posted this. I posted last Thursday's Word, instead of the correct one. The post, as originally published, appears in italics. My correction, in normal type, occurs afterwards.
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. And this particular Thursday happened to be on one of the biggest "Social Holidays", in our year. And I hope you all HAD a great Christmas (or equivalent day).
The Word for Yesterday (Thursday) was correctly Gratitude. This, of course, also goes well with Christmas, since, in the Christian religion, where it's most observed, we're giving thanks, for God's choice to take enough interest, in "humans" [and this gets dicey, when you take into consideration how many planets think they have Humans, living on them] to (at least partly) put his consciousness into a human being, so as to be able to relate better.
-----------------------------------
Yes, I make mistakes. What I attempt to do, however, is to avoid repeating them. Thank you!

Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 24, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. And the best way to conduct a conversation (our Theme, in effect) is, if all parties to the conversation are treated, as equal to each other.
Tuesday, December 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 23, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. This has a lot to do with the "usual connotation", of one of the words in our Theme, Intercourse: One meaning of Prudence is "discretion, in practical affairs" (and how isn't continuing our species practical)? So yes. However, don't go overboard, turning yourself into a Prude.
Monday, December 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, December 22, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. I see two ways this interfaces with the Themes for this week. First, let's take care of "Opposite of Guilty". OK. Taken care of. :-)
When we get to the Innocence of little children, what can be observed is a form of communication, that almost brings the entire body to the forefront. And I have a theory, that any committed couples can test: When "coupling" [the "in" portion of "Intercourse"], simply stay in. Kind of like a plug, in a wall socket. Now, start discussing your practical affairs, and see if you don't have more mental connection with each other. (I've heard that people are close enough to experience something like telepathy, when doing this). Since I'm single, I've not tried it yet, but wish to get feedback. This COULD be a way of joining two brains together, temporarily, to solve issues, that might come up in a relationship.
One situation, where I do NOT recommend this, is if there are important secrets, that a couple is attempting to keep FROM each other! In other words, be careful.

Sunday, December 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, December 21, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. At the risk of being silly, I'll use this Word, with both of our Themes, in a sentence: "I need to have a dialogue with you, to ask forgiveness for the intercourse incident that occurred last week". (I didn't say these Words and Themes ALWAYS go together smoothly).
Weekly Theme: Week of December 21-27, 2014
The Themes for this Week are Intercourse and Dialogue. Before anybody gets strange ideas, I would suggest Googling "define intercourse". The first thing you get, is "communication or dealings between individuals or groups". But guess what? Even the definition people "expect", likely includes dialogue, hopefully before, during AND after.
Saturday, December 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, December 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. How would one define authentic humor (besides eliminating plagiarism)? It helps, if the person, telling the joke is coming from an authentic position, him/herself. I may not have the complete answer, this time. Do you? Thanks!
Friday, December 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, December 19, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Interpreting humor? Of course! We interpret languages, right? In a way, humor is its own language, because one, practically universal action, among humans, is laughing.
Thursday, December 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, December 18, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. Does humor help socialize people? You bet! Especially if it is "nice" humor (not cruelty towards other people, coupled with laughter). Why do you think good comedy clubs are often packed?
Wednesday, December 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 17, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. So how WOULD somebody concentrate on Humor (our Theme)? If what you concentrate on, becomes a large portion of your life, wouldn't it be better to concentrate on humor, rather than, say, melancholy?
Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 16, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Acceptable humor? I have an example of what does NOT fit that category: Person A sneaks up to person B and trips him, and then starts laughing loudly. When person B looks at him angrily, person A asks, "What? Can't you take a joke?"
Monday, December 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, December 15, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. And yes, be generous with your humor, but don't overload the people around you. After all, if you give all your jokes away, early, you risk repeating yourself.
Sunday, December 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, December 14, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. And what BETTER thing to share, than a good, Humorous joke?
Weekly Theme: Week of December 14-20, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Humor. Also spelled humour, this has a great Wikipedia definition. Of course, the best known definition is Hilarity, but it definitely is not the only definition. (For example, inside the Wikipedia article: "The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which taught that the balance of fluids in the human body, known as humours (Latin: humor, "body fluid"), controlled human health and emotion").
Saturday, December 13, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, December 13, 2014
The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. Bringing in our Theme (Mediation), these are crucial steps in PERFORMING the job of Mediation, because you need to know what you are up against, with all parties of the dispute, including history, nature of the personalities involved, how they look at the country YOU are working for, and so forth. These words are "Executive Words", commonly used by managers (though perhaps not enough sometimes).
Friday, December 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, December 12, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. This is either an intense version of last Tuesday's Review, or what you look like, in a mirror. And, to bring in the Theme (Mediation), the people, on both sides of a dispute often mirror each other, which can, sometimes make it easier to resolve the dispute or, paradoxically, sometimes make it harder.
Thursday, December 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, December 11, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Please note that study is a great way to learn a subject. Just be careful, to pick the subjects you WANT to learn first.
Wednesday, December 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 10, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Absorbing life, like a sponge? Absorbing what is going on, in a dispute? This can work about as good, for mediation, as yesterday's "Review" did. (And note that this is also a good way to learn a new language. It's called "Immersion Training", and practically all of the class is conducted in the language, being taught).
Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 9, 2014
The Word for Yesterday (Tuesday) was Review. It's always good to review what you do. Where it fits in, with our Theme, is to review both sides of the dispute that you are mediating, to find the best way to make a difference, in how the dispute works out.
Monday, December 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, December 8, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. Experimental mediation? We probably need more of it, in the world. Like, all those "scary countries", or "scary religions"? How about talking to them. I know some of them are like talking to a brick wall (like ISIS). But the idea is to talk, before exploding. Thanks!
Sunday, December 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, December 7, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. And I certainly recognize those, who have mediated on my behalf, during my life. My favorite example, was when school officials mediated between myself, and some high school bullies, who were attempting to get me in trouble for things they did.
Weekly Theme: Week of December 7-13, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Mediation. Google has a definition, including "intervention in a dispute in order to resolve it; arbitration". I know this one very well, because I used it as a child, to keep a level of calm, between my Mother and Father.
Please note that, just like Astrology, the Michael Transits are based on a series of attributes. In this case, our Weekly Theme is based on a topic, called The Global Job. And the Theme for this Week is also my personal Global Job, which could be one reason I did it so well, as a child.
Please note that, just like Astrology, the Michael Transits are based on a series of attributes. In this case, our Weekly Theme is based on a topic, called The Global Job. And the Theme for this Week is also my personal Global Job, which could be one reason I did it so well, as a child.
Saturday, December 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, December 6, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. Keeping the Theme in mind, I might make a "late Autumn Resolution", like: "I resolve to cooperate better".
Friday, December 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, December 5, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Can it take courage to cooperate? Certainly, especially if the person, or group you are cooperating is controversial. But this works both ways, because a cooperative life can enhance courage.
Thursday, December 4, 2014
Words for the Day: Thursday, December 4, 2014
The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you know your own strength? Do you feel empowered? Does this help, or hinder your ability to cooperate with other people? Because I firmly believe that Cooperation (our Theme) works best, from a position of strength.
Wednesday, December 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 3, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. "Are you competent enough to cooperate?" (Yes, that sounds a bit silly). Perhaps better: "Can we cooperate with each other, to become more competent?" And yes, there are examples out there, such as a cooperative effort, between a teacher and a student, to teach competence.
Tuesday, December 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 2, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. Cooperative Endurance? There's a literal form of that, when people help each other in, say a Gym environment. Also, when I'm in an environment with lots of cooperation, I find I can endure life easier.
Monday, December 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, December 1, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. Going back to our Theme, this is a VERY cooperative activity, NORMALLY (in other words, not counting violence or deceit). I'm having trouble putting this in words, but I'm going out on a limb, to suggest that, even one other usage of Fertility, "a Fertile Imagination" includes cooperation.
Sunday, November 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, November 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And a stable environment helps make cooperation easier. But, on the other hand, cooperation can also make stability easier. In other words, it works in both directions.
Weekly Theme: Week of 11/30 - 12/06/2014
The Theme for this Week is Cooperation. According to Wikipedia, one meaning of this is to [paraphrased], work together for the common good. This can be an organism, a person, or even a species. Let's see how this combines with the Words for this week.
Saturday, November 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, November 29, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. How does this relate to Circulation (our Theme)? One example I've been using is a water system. So, with the water "circulating" through the pipes in your home, you can open a "spigot", for example in the sink, to "release" some of the water say, into a class or cup, so you can drink it.
Friday, November 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, November 28, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. My favorite usage of this word is, "Let's aspire to be the best we can be". But the meaning that fits best with Circulation (our Theme) is a different one, "the action or process of drawing breath", which circulates oxygen throughout the body.
Thursday, November 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, November 27, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. I've said this before: Too little contrast can be boring, yet too much can get scary. And that holds for our Theme (Circulation). One example (circulating books, as a librarian) is a career, without a lot of adventure, unless finding great books is adventurous to you. However, helping circulate water, as an employee of a water company, can include lots of contrast, including possible danger of being washed away, by a broken water main. Pick your career carefully!
Wednesday, November 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 26, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. Circulation (our Theme) includes multiple Career paths, including ones discussed earlier, such as Librarian (circulating books), and a water company (circulating water). I can add multiple careers, useful to helping motor vehicles circulate on our streets and highways (i.e. traffic cops, snow-plow drivers, and those who fix traffic lights and/or fill potholes).
Each of these careers require different traits, and DEFINITELY a level of flexibility or adaptability.
Each of these careers require different traits, and DEFINITELY a level of flexibility or adaptability.
Tuesday, November 25, 2014
Words for the Day: Tuesday, November 25, 2014
The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. And what better way to "Circulate", than agilely and gracefully? (Incidentally, to develop those two attributes, I recommend Yoga).
Monday, November 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, November 24, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated Circulation? In your body, your heart rate DOES go up, when you are exerting yourself. And, when it comes to "circulation of motor vehicles on our highways", accelerated circulation can have side effects, such as speeding tickets.
Sunday, November 23, 2014
Words for the Day: Sunday, November 23, 2014
The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. Some of the careers, that can come with Circulation (our Theme) require patience, and others tolerance. For example, it takes patience to be a librarian, and tolerance, to work for a water company, which can include pipe repair, in the mud.
Weekly Theme: Week of November 23-29, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Circulation. According to Wikipedia, there are many types of Circulation. For example, you can circulate blood, through your body, people from their home to work (i.e. via highways and public transportation). You can circulate books, between many people, through public libraries. Currency (aka money) circulates, between people. During this week, we will see how this Theme works with the different Words.
Saturday, November 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, November 22, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. It can definitely be something to celebrate, when others (say, on the job or, perhaps in a domestic situation) acknowledge my value to them. One way to return the favor, is to acknowledge those, who have been of value to you.
Friday, November 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, November 21, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. This is one of my favorite Words (right beside Gratitude, from three Thursdays ago), and definitely one to Celebrate. I only wish that more people would follow an old Charge, to perform random, senseless acts of Kindness.
Thursday, November 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, November 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. And proper Celebration
is a great thing to encourage. Remember, folks: It takes courage to
encourage.
Wednesday, November 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 19, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. When we're full of thought (including being able to be creative), it's definitely something to celebrate. Yes, think, before speaking and/or acting.
Tuesday, November 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 18, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. And a good, well-run Support Group is a wonderful thing to Celebrate. But don't forget the Support groups YOU belong to, or may have an opportunity to join. Support works in both directions.
Monday, November 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, November 17, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. And a state of comfort (especially if, after a time period, lacking comfort) is definitely something to celebrate.
Sunday, November 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, November 16, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. And delicious, nourishing food is often something to celebrate.
Weekly Theme: Week of November 16-22, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Celebration. If I plug "define celebration" into Google, I get "the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity". The ability to do this, makes holidays popular.
Please note that this also marks the beginning of a new, seven-week "Michael Month", with the attribute of "Sage", and a "Monthly Theme" of Communications.
Please note that this also marks the beginning of a new, seven-week "Michael Month", with the attribute of "Sage", and a "Monthly Theme" of Communications.
Saturday, November 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, November 15, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. I'm sure most would welcome revelations, that they can be prosperous. And please note that there are more than one definition of prosperity. For example, a prosperous imagination.
Friday, November 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, November 14, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. And I have a preference for Revelations, that have a liberating feel to them. (Of course, I like to "fact check" intending revelations, before "living by them").
Thursday, November 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, November 13, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. And what better Revelation, than a wise one? Thank you.
Wednesday, November 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 12, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. So, how hard is it to impartially pass on Revelations? I'd say, about as difficult as it is to impartially deliver a news program on TV.
Tuesday, November 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 11, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. One definition of Revelation (our Theme) is "a surprising and previously unknown fact". Going out and Disclosing, such a fact has consequences, especially if others prefer it to stay hidden. However, keeping such a fact secret often has consequences of its own. Your choice, folks!
Monday, November 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, November 10, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. And I'm ENTIRELY CONVINCED that the implied combination of this with our Theme, does NOT mean that, "...we should eliminate Revelation". Instead, I would suggest that it's more important that we endeavor to eliminate personal behaviors, or limiting beliefs, that prevent us from the ABILITY towards Revelation. (And yes, some of you might object, that you have no interest in Revelation. My reply is that "your mileage may vary [or YMMV]"). Thank you.
Sunday, November 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, November 9, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. This is a trait to develop, in general, yet is also one, that helps in a life direction, where you reveal things, perhaps not known to others.
Weekly Theme: Week of November 9-15, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Revelation. According to, at least one online dictionary, there are multiple meanings for this Theme. Anything from, simply "disclosing" (though meaning 2 adds, "...something not before realized"), to heavy religious connotations, including "God's disclosure of Himself...". Let's see how this fits in, with the "Words", for the days of this week.
Saturday, November 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, November 8, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. An Expansive Philosophy? How about a Philosophy of Expansion? (Regarding the 2nd, I like it, if it's "spiritual expansion", or even "intellectual expansion". But I suggest caution, if it's "expansion around the middle of the body, due to too many delicious food items").
Friday, November 7, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, November 7, 2014
The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Do you trust your own philosophy? Do you have faith, that you can live your philosophy? (By the way, one answer I get, with questions like this, is the question, "What Philosophy?" What I've found, is that people who don't have their own philosophy, often borrow from other people).
Thursday, November 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, November 6, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. Philosophy of Gratitude? I consider THAT, the best kind! Thank all of you. (Pass the gratitude on).
Wednesday, November 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 5, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. The "philosophy of equality" that I like, is equal opportunity for all. An alternative, that I'm not so happy with, would be "forced conformity".
Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 4, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence? How would this fit Philosophy (our Theme)? Prudence actually has many meanings, and is big enough to have its own Wikipedia Page. But one of my favorite meanings is, "discretion, with regard to practical matters". And THAT, in my opinion, makes a good philosophy of life.
Monday, November 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, November 3, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. A philosophy of Innocence? [as opposed to being guilty]? Or an Innocent Philosophy? What do you people think? Thank you.
Sunday, November 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, November 2, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. Do you ever feel like you need to ask forgiveness, for your philosophy? Alternatively, do you have a philosophy of forgiveness, towards other people? Just some food for thought. Thank you.
Weekly Theme: Week of November 2-8, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Philosophy. This word has four syllables yet, as seen by this rather extensive Wikipedia article, has lots of facets to it. So what is your philosophy of life? And how will this Theme fit in with the Words, for the days of this week? We shall find out.
Saturday, November 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, November 1, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Authentic Teaching? An authentic Education? And how about conducting yourself, in an Authentic fashion, as a student? See, it works both ways.
Friday, October 31, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, October 31, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Themes? Nothing much, except to point out how important "foreign language" classes can be. For example, you STILL can find a respectable career, as an Interpretor. And it can be, even an easier career, if you are able to THINK, in multiple languages.
Thursday, October 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, October 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. And yes, this works with our Themes, because Education includes LOTS of Socialization, at least, when done the "usual way". (A possible exception includes something called "Home Schooling", where the teachers, are the parents of the children. [There CAN also be tutors involved, but USUALLY not other kids to play with say, at recess]).
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 29, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. And THIS word fits our Theme in MANY different ways. For example, concentrating on your lessons, can assist, in giving you better grades. Also, when our local (and state) governments concentrate on the well being of our teachers (rather than, say, making them worry about if their job's going away soon), then they are free to concentrate on the well being of their students.
Tuesday, October 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 28, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Is the Education you received in, say the last year, acceptable? Are you acceptable, standing in front of your most recent Teacher? Does the current Government, for the state, and/or county, you live in, include an acceptable level of support for your educational system? The answers to all of these questions might surprise you.
Monday, October 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, October 27, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. A generous teacher? Generosity towards teachers? (I hope!) And, sure to attract the political crowd, why it's a good thing for governments to be generous to the Education field, in general.
Sunday, October 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, October 26, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Both of the words, making up our Theme, are practically definitions of how one might share to another. In other words, "Teaching is a good form of Sharing, which can provide a good Education for somebody".
Weekly Themes: Week of October 26, through November 1, 2014
The Themes for this Week are Education and Teaching. There are sentences, that show how one of the Theme words relate to the other: "Proper teaching is the best way to provide a decent education to people". Now, we have seven days, to express these Themes, through our Words. Let's see how this works out.
Saturday, October 25, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, October 25, 2014
The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. In my opinion, the best way to retain, what you are attempting to learn about a topic, is to pay attention to the Big Picture view of the category, that includes the topic in question. For example, if you are concentrating on a chapter in, say, a textbook, skim the entire section, to get the big picture view, as well as the context and perspective, of the chapter in question.
Friday, October 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, October 24, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. The way this ties in with our Theme COULD be somewhat dicey. Like, for example, how do you "retain a reflection", because the moment you move from the mirror, the reflection moves too? Camera? Isn't that a way of "performing a Selfie"? :-)
Thursday, October 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, October 23, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. And here is some extremely good news, for anybody in the academic field. (And, let me know, as an Applied Quantum Physicist, I'm required to regularly take classes, to keep from forgetting what I learned before, as well as learning new developments, in my field. And this is NO different from many other fields, such as, DEFINITELY, the medical field, and (HOPEFULLY, but sadly, probably not) the legal field). But, to keep this connected with our Theme, the good news is that proper study habits will GREATLY help, with the retention of what you are studying.
Wednesday, October 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 22, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Tying this to our Theme (Retention), is actually kind of funny, because there are relationships. For example, "I'm absorbing knowledge, so I can retain it". In an academic environment, absorption is often manifest via, for example, "Foreign Language Immersion Training" where, after any introduction(s), the ONLY language spoken is the one, being taught.
Tuesday, October 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 21, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. And review IS an important part of Retaining what you are learning, in an academic situation. But Review is also important in other situations, whether short term (reviewing a shopping trip, to make sure you didn't miss anything) or long term (like Life Review, where you can evaluate how you did, in the life you just led, in preparation for the "Next Lifetime").
Monday, October 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, October 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. My tie-in with our Theme might come across as humorous (though I think I'd LIKE to learn the technique, for real): "I like to experiment with water retention, in my body, to prepare for hikes, in desert areas, in the summer". :-)
Sunday, October 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, October 19, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. To tie this to our Theme, "When I'm studying a book, say for a homework assignment, I can recognize the point, where I'm retaining the meaning of the assignment, such that I am confident about tomorrow's test".
Weekly Theme: Week of October 19-25, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Retention. There are multiple meanings, for this Theme. For example, you may retain knowledge like, for example, "You can often retain a story better, by reading it aloud to yourself". A less "happy" meaning, but related, would fit this: "He looked overweight, but the doctors told him that it was mainly caused by water retention". Once again, there are seven days in this week, so we have seven opportunities, to combine this Theme, with this week's daily Words.
Saturday, October 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, October 18, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. Let's bring Preservation (our
Theme) in to this. How about this? "I resolve to preserve my
resolve"? :-)
Friday, October 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, October 17, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. It takes courage to live in a
multi-dimensional world. A LOT of courage. Especially, when you have
to argue with family and/or friends, that try to avoid, even a topic,
people like to read (or watch movies) about, such as
multidimensionality. And how do we preserve our sanity, in all of this
chaos? In my case, Meditation. Thank you very much, while I go quiet.
Thursday, October 16, 2014
Words for the Day: Thursday, October 16, 2014
The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you know your own strength? Do you feel empowered? Do you want to preserve these two traits? Actually, I'll be different from many others, and recommend Yoga.
Wednesday, October 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 15, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. Are you competent to preserve things? Are there ways to preserve competence? And, for more on competence, I recommend a book, "The Peter Principle".
Tuesday, October 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 14, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. Bringing my Theme in, how would you preserve endurance? Or, on the other hand, how would you endure preservation? Incidentally, if you need help with, say, endurance training, I prefer yoga to, "just" going to the Gym.
Monday, October 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, October 13, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. And, to a point, this helps "preserve" [theme] our species, unless it's done to an extreme, causing overpopulation.
Sunday, October 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, October 12, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And a stable environment can make preserving "things" easier.
Weekly Theme: Week of October 12-18, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Preservation. I looked up preservation on Google, and got the "usual" self-referent "definition": "The act of preserving something". Oh well. So I go back and look up preserve. According to Merriam-Webster, Preserve means (among other things) "to keep (something) in its original state or in good condition". Let's see how this fits with the Words, that make up this week.
Saturday, October 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, October 11, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. This is quite a word to analyze. For example, there are many ways to be stuck, and often fewer ways, to release yourself, depending on the circumstances, and how many other people are involved. But still, if you feel stuck, look around your environment. You MIGHT find a "release lever", whether figurative or literal (for example, an actual room, and there's a lever to open the door).
Friday, October 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, October 10, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. Our Theme (Analysis) can "work" here, since it's a complex word, with several meanings, many medical (i.e. "We must aspirate the fluid, from his chest cavity). My favorite use of it? "Aspire to be the best, that you can be".
Thursday, October 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, October 9, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. And the way contrast helps us with Analysis (our Theme) is that contrast can show the many facets of the topic we are analyzing. For example, too little contrast can seem boring, yet too much can seem scary.
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 8, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. I consider this to be a synonym for Flexibility, which means you can function is various situations, perhaps including ones you haven't encountered. Regarding our Theme, Analysis, flexibility includes things, like including data from people, that are different, whether via political beliefs, race, gender, and so on. In other words, include the data, if it matches the study being performed.
Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Words for the Day: Tuesday, October 7, 2014
The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. So what would it
mean, to perform an agile, graceful analysis? That doesn't come across
as an easy to answer question, except that I felt that some examples of
System Analysis I did, in my computer career came close.
Monday, October 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, October 6, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated analysis?
Like when you have to think, quick? That sounds good, but DO be careful
about excess acceleration, in a motor vehicle, lest you get points
against your driving record.
Sunday, October 5, 2014
Words for the Day: Sunday, October 5, 2014
The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. This fits our Theme well, because it can take both of these, to be competent to perform a good analysis.
Weekly Theme: Week of October 5-11, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Analysis. According to Wikipedia, Analysis is breaking down a complex item or topic into smaller pieces, in order to gain a better understanding. In computer science, there is System Analysis, which are the steps, prior to writing a computer program. We will now have to see, how this fits in with this week's Words.
Saturday, October 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, October 4, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. And yes, the Theme
(Archives) comes in, as I acknowledge the Public Libraries I've lived
by, during my life, including the one in San Francisco, which allowed me
to learn a great deal about the history of San Francisco.
Friday, October 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, October 3, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. This (along with Gratitude) is
one of my favorite Words. It helps the world go around, and even ties
in to our Theme, because it's always good to show kindness to your
fellow patrons of, say, public libraries.
Thursday, October 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, October 2, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. And yes, encourage your
Archives (i.e. Public Libraries). Why? Besides being places where
people can read and borrow books, libraries are also frequently places
you can go, to learn about the history about where you live.
Wednesday, October 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 1, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. First off, when
combined with Archives (our Theme), it's quite thoughtful to remain
quiet, in a public library, so that other people can concentrate on the
books they are reading. In general, however, remember that, to be
thoughtful is, simply to be "full of thought". In other words, think
before speaking and/or acting.
Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. And yes, I encourage
supporting your Public Libraries (or Archives), if you benefit from
them.
Monday, September 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, September 29, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort). And Archives (aka Public
Libraries) often have quite comfortable chairs. Not always, though...
Sunday, September 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, September 28, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. And what kind of nourishment can you get from a Public Library? How about nourishment for the mind, such as a good book?
Weekly Theme: Week of 9/28 - 10/4/2014
The Theme for this Week is Archives. An archive is a collection of historical documents or records. And I'll add books, which means that a commonly used type of archive is a Public Library. It will be interesting to see how the Words, that make up this week fit in with this Theme.
Saturday, September 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, September 27, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. A strategy of prosperity?
Yes, and a well-respected one: Complete school, hopefully with some
element of College. Then, go find a job, and perform it conscientiously
and competently. This sort of strategy SHOULD work fine, except that
there CAN be other, overriding considerations, such as Office Politics.
Friday, September 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, September 26, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. A strategy of liberation?
I'm sure those in prison have been known to have such a thing. But you
can replace the word "prison" with any sort of limitation you have, in
life.
Thursday, September 25, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, September 25, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. A strategy of wisdom? For one
thing, I consider that life experience is what makes one wise. And
life experience is where strategy is learned, and applied.
Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 24, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. A "strategy" of
impartiality? I would define that as "putting away, at least
temporarily, my 'Rose Colored Glasses'". In other words, allowing
myself to honestly consider another point of view.
Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 23, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. And yes, any strategy
could easily carry a consequence. But, I submit that a LACK of strategy
is likely to carry a more severe consequence.
Monday, September 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, September 22, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. A strategy of Elimination?
That might be a strategy to lose weight. It also might be a strategy
to simplify a life. Or Elimination might be used to eliminate, what
stands in the way of a good strategy. These Words and Themes work
together in many ways.
Sunday, September 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, September 21, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. And this is quite important, with our Theme, as you don't want to give your strategy away, to too many others, especially if you use the example of Chess, like I did.
Weekly Theme: Week of September 21-27, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Strategy. I used to play Chess (and still occasionally do, especially against computerized opponents). There are two parts, to winning a chess game: Strategy and Tactics. Strategy is a high-level goal, including, in chess the highest level goal of defeating the enemy King. But, to get there, keep in mind the lower level strategies, such as controlling the middle of the chess board, and keeping your pawns connected. On the other hand, tactics are things to watch for, to be able to win the game. For example, look for weaknesses in the opposing player's position, as well as looking for combinations, that allow you to gain material, such as the ability to win unprotected pieces.
Saturday, September 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, September 20, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. In my opinion, Spiritual
Expansion is not only awesome, but quite useful. However, expanding your "middle", due to a lot of delicious items in your diet, perhaps less so.
Be careful and have a great weekend.
Friday, September 19, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, September 19, 2014
The
Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Trust God and have Faith in the
Universe. Simple as that. Other people? That's where tools can be
useful, to discern if the person you are "trusting" warrants it. And
faith? Please don't take away its eyesight, because Blind Faith can
cause issues.
Thursday, September 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, September 18, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. Now I find THIS useful, no
MATTER what reality I am in. On the one hand, I can be thankful, for
the vision of an interesting alternative reality (say, in a dream), but
on the other hand, I can also be thankful, to make it "home" safely. So
thank you, all who read this!
Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 17, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. I find some forms of Equality
"useful" [theme], such as equal opportunity. But there is a less useful
version, that can feel quite uncomfortable, called "forced conformity".
Tuesday, September 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. "Discretion in practical
matters"? Seems like a "useful" definition. Just don't go overboard
and turn into a Prude.
Monday, September 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, September 15, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Useful AND Innocent? Due to
rules (or even laws, in some places), as well as common biases, it can
become harder to BE useful, after being guilty, especially of a felony.
Sad, but true, as it makes it harder to rehabilitate yourself. (Note:
one of the Words that makes up this Friday is Trust, which is a
reason for this).
Sunday, September 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, September 14, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. And why would anyone feel the need to ask forgiveness, for being useful? If they were convinced they were, like me as a child, in the way, then maybe. Where I would feel I need forgiveness, might be if I prevented somebody else from being useful.
Weekly Theme: Week of September 14-20, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Usefulness. What does it mean to be useful? No, seriously! :-) (As a child, I was frequently "considered" to be "in the way", when I attempted to be useful, in my home environment).
Saturday, September 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, September 13, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Practical authenticity? An
authentic economy? Oh well: These Themes and Words don't always seem
to work together. However, DO be authentic to yourself.
Friday, September 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, September 12, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. For instance (and to get
back to our Themes), Economy is subject to interpretation, which depends
on the perspective of the person interpreting it. For example, an
ultra-rich person would interpret economy differently from someone,
attempting to "make do", with only a minimum wage job.
Thursday, September 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, September 11, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. Economic socialization?
Practical socialization? Yes. Don't burn yourself out, either by
paying more than you can afford, or spending so much time at it, that
you don't live a balanced life.
Wednesday, September 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 10, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. Economic concentration.
Unfortunately, that is an unpleasant thing (to many) that is occurring
now. But concentrating on practicality is something we all can do, to
better our lives.
Tuesday, September 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 9, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Acceptable practicality?
Economic acceptability? Some Themes combine with some Words easier than
others do.
In general, always strive to be acceptable to yourself.
In general, always strive to be acceptable to yourself.
Monday, September 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, September 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. This is actually related to
yesterday, because a life of economy and practicality can leave you with
more to be generous with.
Sunday, September 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, September 7, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. So how does sharing connect to Economy and Practicality? Because if you live by our Themes, you could have more to share. Literally!
Weekly Themes: Week of September 7-13, 2014
The Themes for this Week are Economy and Practicality. Economy has many meanings, but the one related to Frugality comes closest to Practicality. In the Michael Teachings, this relates to the seven Roles in Essence. In particular, these Themes make up a combination of the Roles Warrior and Sage.
As we start this week, the second Role (Sage) will interact with all seven Roles, beginning with Server, and ending with King. And then, next Sunday, we get to explore another Theme. Simple as that!
As we start this week, the second Role (Sage) will interact with all seven Roles, beginning with Server, and ending with King. And then, next Sunday, we get to explore another Theme. Simple as that!
Saturday, September 6, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, September 6, 2014
The
Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. So how do
these intertwine with Organization (our Theme)? A major kind of
Organization is a Corporation, which many people work for, me included.
Today's Words relate to me personally, by the way, which meant I was
always interested in "the Big Picture", when I was working. Not all
work locations liked this, however. Many told me I was "getting
sidetracked" when, for example, the computers went down while we, the
employees, were attempting to work on them.
Friday, September 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, September 5, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. This is either a more intense
version of Review (last Tuesday's Word), or what happens with a mirror.
(Speaking of mirrors, each of us can be a mirror for each other).
Thursday, September 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, September 4, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Organized study? Of course!
That's what (hopefully) occurs in, say, high school and college.
Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 3, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Absorbing an organization?
If it's a corporation, it usually means one corporation purchasing a
smaller one, "gobbling it up", and spitting out the pieces. :-)
Hopefully, that's not what the Michael Teachings [can be Googled] meant by this combination.
Hopefully, that's not what the Michael Teachings [can be Googled] meant by this combination.
Tuesday, September 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 2, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Organized Review? That's probably
the best kind, where you write out the topics you want to review before
you, say, sit in a relaxed position with a Journal, to gain clarity on
those topics. And note that the scope of a Review can vary. For
example, if you experience something unexpected, it's a good idea to find
someplace to sit down, so you can review the experience, right on the
spot. But then, you can review your day, before falling asleep, and
multiple spiritual teachings discuss the topic of Life Review.
Monday, September 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, September 1, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. So how would one experiment
with organizations? Actually, it might be easier to perform organized
experiments. (And, in fact, I remember those in my High School
Chemistry class).
Sunday, August 31, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 31, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. And yes, I recognize organizations (as well as people) that help me in my life.
Weekly Theme: Week of August 31-Setptember 6, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Organization. This is a case, where the verb, creates the noun. See, the verb, organize, means to "arrange into a structured whole", which forms the noun, organization, some examples being companies or clubs. I'll likely be referring to the noun, much of this week.
Saturday, August 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 30, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. So how can I possibly connect
this to the Theme, "Protection"? How about, "I resolve to protect my
resolve"? (Yes, some are easier than others).
Friday, August 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, August 29, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. And remember that the most profound
courage, in some situations, is the courage to say, "No!"
Thursday, August 28, 2014
Words for the Day: Thursday, August 28, 2014
The
Words for Yesterday (Thursday) were Strength and Empowerment. Do you
know your own strength? Do you feel Empowered? Are you ready to
protect those two attributes? If you wish to develop, or maintain
these, I recommend Yoga. It's not the only path, but it works for many.
Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 27, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. How do you protect your
competence? Depending on where it is, it could include refresher
courses in the topic(s) you are competent in. It could include time at a
gym or exercise programs if it's a physical trait. And many other
categories (including music composition and/or performance), simply
require sticking with it including, in many cases, practice.
Tuesday, August 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 26, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. To Protect [our Theme] or, for that matter, develop endurance, I recommend Yoga.
Monday, August 25, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, August 25, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. Theme? Oh well, there is a
rubber device, that has "protection" as one slang term, that actually
protects AGAINST fertility.
Seriously, please note that fertility has multiple meanings. For example, you could have a fertile imagination.
Seriously, please note that fertility has multiple meanings. For example, you could have a fertile imagination.
Sunday, August 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 24, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And protecting a person, animal or object is easier, in a stable environment.
Weekly Theme: Week of August 24-30, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Protection. This time, I was not too impressed with Google's "define protection", because meaning one began, "the act of protecting...", which doesn't come across as a meaning at all. Therefore, I replaced it with "define protect", which is much better. Meaning one is, "keeping safe from harm or injury".
Saturday, August 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 23, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. Two days ago, we discussed a
"Contrast Knob". Today, how about a "Release Lever", for when you feel
stuck, in your life? And, of course, there's a lot of places in our
Theme (Husbandry, often expressed in farming), that can allow people to
feel stuck.
Friday, August 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, August 22, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. One statement, that would
connect this with our Theme: "I aspire to be the best farmer I can be".
(Sorry, not me: I'm a "city guy").
Thursday, August 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, August 21, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. Farming (a part of Husbandry)?
Yes, things can get repetitive, even boring at times, and possibly scary
at other times. These are the two sides of Contrast, and they can
easily show up in life also.
Since you have the opportunity to control your life, that means there is likely to be a "Contrast Knob", somewhere in your environment. Find it! :-)
Since you have the opportunity to control your life, that means there is likely to be a "Contrast Knob", somewhere in your environment. Find it! :-)
Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 20, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. Also known as Flexibility,
this is useful, both of which are useful in life, as well as farming
(one meaning of our Theme).
One saying I like, that I've shared before: The flexible adapt to their surroundings. The inflexible request that their surroundings adapt to them!
One saying I like, that I've shared before: The flexible adapt to their surroundings. The inflexible request that their surroundings adapt to them!
Tuesday, August 19, 2014
Words for the Day: Tuesday, August 19, 2014
The
Words for Today are Agility and Grace. These attributes help in
everyday life, and in farming (husbandry, our Theme), due to how many
"moving parts" are on a farm. To develop both Words, I suggest Yoga.
Thank you.
Monday, August 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, August 18, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated husbandry? Or
(going to the two basic meanings of our Theme), accelerated farming, or
accelerated conservation?
However, be careful about accelerated driving of a motor vehicle because, if excessive, you could face a traffic ticket.
However, be careful about accelerated driving of a motor vehicle because, if excessive, you could face a traffic ticket.

Words for the Day: Sunday, August 17, 2014
The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance, both of which are helpful in life, in general, but especially when taking on either meaning of Husbandry (our Theme).
Weekly Theme: Week of August 17-23, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Husbandry. I found something interesting, when I asked Google for the definition: Meaning number one, "the care, cultivation, and breeding of crops and animals", included last week's Theme, "Cultivation". But there's more, including what appears to be a requirement for physical strength, yes, but even more than that. Let's see what happens, when this is related to the Words, for the days of this week.
Saturday, August 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. I like to acknowledge
those, who help cultivate many of the prior Words for this Week.
Especially ones like Thoughtfulness and Kindness. Thanks to all of you.
Friday, August 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, August 15, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. So how DO you cultivate kindness?
A great start would be to perform a random, senseless act of kindness,
at least once, daily.
Thursday, August 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, August 14, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. Cultivating encouragement?
Encouraging cultivation? This can definitely work in both directions.
Just be careful not to encourage bad behavior.
Wednesday, August 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 13, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. Here's one, where I
firmly believe that, for me to cultivate it in others, I must develop,
and maintain it in myself. For example, think before you speak and/or
act. Simple as that.
Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 12, 2014
The
Word for Yesterday (Tuesday) was Support. How do you cultivate support?
How about beginning by supporting others? In some cases, the Support
ends up going both directions. In other cases, just the fact that you
support others, brings you support, straight from the Universe.
Monday, August 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, August 11, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. So, how DO you cultivate comfort?
Proper furniture might be a good start. Then, a combination heater /
air conditioner, to keep temperatures in a comfort range. Proper
friendships are also helpful.
Sunday, August 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 10, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. What does it mean to Cultivate Nourishment? First, see the entry for our Theme. So I would say that, to "cultivate nourishment", I go to a grocery store, and purchase some nourishing food to cook at home. So I should say that I am "cultivating delicious nourishment". :-)
Weekly Theme: Week of August 10-16, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Cultivation. What does it mean to cultivate? Depends. According to "define cultivate" on Google, it could mean to "prepare and use (land) for crops or gardening", or it could mean to "try to acquire or develop (a quality, sentiment, or skill)", with usage (in a sentence) of "he cultivated an air of indifference".
Saturday, August 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 9, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. Making a choice to be
prosperous? Please don't laugh at this, or say it's "not possible",
because it's EASY to make choices to NOT be prosperous, such as
beginning a life of crime, or turning off all of your friends. Think
about it!
Friday, August 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, August 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. A choice to live a liberated
(meaning free) life? Google also suggests Liberation to mean "freedom
from limits on thought and behavior". That sounds good to me also.
Thursday, August 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, August 7, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. A "choice" to get wise?
Developing the wisdom to make better choices? Once again, I believe it
works in both directions.
Wednesday, August 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 6, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. Impartial choice? When we
take the meaning of Impartial: "Fair and just", yes.
Tuesday, August 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 5, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. Every choice has a
consequence. And this includes the one you THOUGHT wasn't a choice:
Staying in bed, and refusing to choose. Sometimes, that "choice" has
the most dramatic consequence of all.
Monday, August 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, August 4, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. Eliminate Choice? NEVER!
However, I can easily see eliminating behavior patterns that might make
choice harder. (One example would be to eliminate tendencies towards
criminal behavior, since being someplace, such as a prison or a jail,
makes personal choice problematical).
Sunday, August 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 3, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. And yes, since only you can
live your life, it makes sense to be self-reliant about the choices you
make.
Weekly Theme: Week of August 3-9, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Choice. Google (through "define choice") gives three meanings for this word, two adjectives and one noun. I'll first eliminate the adjectives, one of which might be said if, say, a driver cuts you off on the freeway: ("He had some choice words, for that driver"). The other adjective means, "of good quality": ("He purchased some choice grapes, at the grocery").
However, the noun fits the intent of these Themes (or Global Jobs, the other use, in the Michael Teachings): "A potential promotion at work provided a difficult choice, between career and family".
However, the noun fits the intent of these Themes (or Global Jobs, the other use, in the Michael Teachings): "A potential promotion at work provided a difficult choice, between career and family".
Saturday, August 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 2, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. And this Word shows the
differences between the two words that make up this week's Theme: For I
would look forward to a Transformation to spiritual expansion, but
consider it a "transition to be careful of", to simply "expand around
the middle of my body".
Friday, August 1, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, August 1, 2014
The
Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Do you trust your
transformations? Do you have faith in your transitions? It should
depend on who's behind them. For example, I DO trust, and have faith,
in the Universe. Other people, not always (except for limited versions
of, "Trust, but Verify" that I hear in the news).
Thursday, July 31, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, July 31, 2014
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. Working on a project? More than one? There are likely others helping you on it. Show gratitude! And, of course, show gratitude, generally, in your life. We ALL have things to be thankful for.
Wednesday, July 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. "Transition to something equal"? No? How about "Equal Opportunity Transformations"? (As long as it's not a "transition" to "forced conformity").
Tuesday, July 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 29, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. Prudent transitions? Gaining prudence, through a spiritual transformation? Both of these apply.
Monday, July 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, July 28, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Our Themes? Sure, as long as you're careful. For example, it might not be pleasant to transform yourself from Innocent to Guilty.
Sunday, July 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, July 27, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. Asking forgiveness for one's transitions? I guess, if it's a transition from law abiding citizen, to a criminal. Please behave yourselves!
Weekly Themes: Week of 07/27 to 08/02/2014
The Themes for this Week are Transition and Transformation. These themes are related, as you are likely to be different, at the end, than you were, at the beginning of the process. However, transition is more "ordinary", such as the transition from the sophomore year, to the junior year of high school. Transformation, on the other hand, has many meanings, from Molecular Biology, to Religion and Spirituality. Please note that some transitions might not be pleasant, such as the transition from a free life, in the world at large, to a multi-year stay in a prison. Be good!
Saturday, July 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, July 26, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Did that recent project you
initiated (or was recently "precipitated" into your lap) come with a
Certificate of Authenticity? The answer might be important!
Friday, July 25, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, July 25, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Interpreting your projects?
Since many topics have their own "terminology" (with computers being a
big example), interpretation is an important phase of any project. And
it can be a great career choice also, if you know more than one
language.
Thursday, July 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, July 24, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. It's great to socialize on
sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+. But I strongly feel that
those are not a replacement for meeting in person.
Wednesday, July 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 23, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. And concentrating (or
focusing) on projects is a way to help complete them faster.
Tuesday, July 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 22, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Are you acceptable to
yourself? Look in the mirror. Now are you? If you're still with me,
great! Look at your life choices, including what projects you've either
initiated, or which have been dropped into your lap (taking in our
Themes). Do you still feel acceptable to yourself? If so, I find it
awesome! Thanks for following!
Monday, July 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, July 21, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. If the Universe "precipitates" a
project into your lap, to your benefit, be generous with the results.
Sunday, July 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, July 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Sharing a project (started through either of the Theme words)? Why not?
Weekly Themes: Week of July 20-26, 2014
The Themes for this Week are Precipitation and Initiation. I consider both of these to be variation on starting a project. If by Precipitation, think of it as "raining from the sky, right into your lap". Initiation, however, suggests the possibility that you, yourself, possibly through imagination, came up with the project yourself.
Saturday, July 19, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, July 19, 2014
The
Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. These make up
the "Executive Summary" (also known as the "Cliffs Notes") of life. But
don't think you can't discover things for yourself with these.
Friday, July 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, July 18, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. How can you discover, through
reflection? Besides "discovering yourself" in a mirror? In a student
scenario, you can develop, or expand on a discovery, by reflecting on
it.
Thursday, July 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, July 17, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Discovery, through study? Of
course, though I caution you to be selective about subjects to study.
At best, you might burn yourself out, if you study "too many topics".
At worst, you might pick one (for example, "how to build explosives")
that actually throw you on a harmful life track.
Wednesday, July 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.. This is like MANY
commercials, these days, which include fantasy and/or science fiction
depictions of Wormholes, bringing you from your home, into a "New Life",
where the product, that is being advertised, saves the day. You sure
"discover", if you jump INTO that wormhole. But the only issue is that
you might NOT like what you get. Just be careful, folks, because magic
is afoot.
Tuesday, July 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 15, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. After yesterday's experiments come
today's review. Both of these help with potential discoveries.
Monday, July 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, July 14, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. And don't think you can't
discover a LOT, via experiments. Two examples I can think of are LSD
and Penicillin.
Sunday, July 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, July 13, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. Can you "recognize a
discovery", if you experienced one? Or "discover recognition" say, if
you experience the double-edged sword of getting famous?
Weekly Theme: Week of July 13-19, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Discovery. The "standard" definition (as well as the expected one, when the Michael system was being "thought up", perhaps millions of years ago) uses itself: "the action or process of discovering or being discovered". (Note: The other "main" definition has to do with law, in particular, the "relationship" between the Prosecution and the Defense: "the compulsory disclosure, by a party to an action, of relevant documents referred to by the other party").
The part I like the best, is in the first one, where it might be YOU, that is "discovered" by others. (An example would be a "garage band", that was overheard by a music lover who, by "officially" discovering them, made them famous).
The part I like the best, is in the first one, where it might be YOU, that is "discovered" by others. (An example would be a "garage band", that was overheard by a music lover who, by "officially" discovering them, made them famous).
Saturday, July 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, July 12, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. Let's see: "I resolve to move to
a more harmonious location". Obviously, everything depends on where
the "harmony quotient" falls, for his/her present location. ("Mother's
basement?" Hmmm...)
Friday, July 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, July 11, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. And, keeping with our Theme, some
"locations" take a LOT of courage, for someone to choose to live there.
Two examples I can think of, both because of tough winters: Fargo,
North Dakota and Nome, Alaska.
Thursday, July 10, 2014
Words for the Day: Thursday, July 10, 2014
The
Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. First off, do
you know your own strength? Do you feel empowered? These are important
questions. And, tying this to our Theme, I've found I feel more
powerful in some areas of the country, such as San Francisco and
Seattle. I felt a lot weaker in, for one example, Lodi, New Jersey. I
believe this is something that can occur, due to climate and the
political environment, to name just two examples.
Wednesday, July 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 9, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. Competent locations? Or
competence at picking the location to live in? Perhaps a little bit of
both?
Tuesday, July 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. And yes, I would think some
locations would be harder to endure than others, such as war-torn areas,
or areas that have no water (including California, where I used to
live). Examine where you live. Are you happy there? Thank you.
Monday, July 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, July 7, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. And this ties into our Theme
well, as the Location is QUITE important, where it's "appropriate" to
"practice fertility".
Sunday, July 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, July 6, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. A stable location? For me, that
is my "Base of Operations", aka "A stable living environment". I make
that a priority.
Weekly Theme: Week of July 6-12, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Location. How important is your location? It depends. For example, if you are located inside an active volcano, that would qualify as an "uncomfortable location". Other examples would include California's Death Valley in the middle of the Summer, or Antarctica in the middle of the Winter (or, arguably, at any time). A comfortable location could be practically anywhere, as well as it includes a couch, a bed, working electricity and water, a TV and books and, for me, a computer. Also, of course, would be heating, when cold outside, and air conditioning, when hot.
How will this go with the Words for this week? We shall see.
How will this go with the Words for this week? We shall see.
Saturday, July 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, July 5, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. And I firmly believe that this
does NOT mean to be released from imagination but, instead, to be
released from behavior that inhibits imagination.
Friday, July 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, July 4, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. Our themes? Of course: "Aspire
to complete the best compositions!" "Aspire to develop the best
imagination you can!"
Thursday, July 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, July 3, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. How does this connect with our
Themes? For one, compositions you write, or creative works (i.e.
stories) can get boring, if there is too little contrast in them. On
the other hands, too much contrast can make them, either not make much
sense or, in some cases, become VERY scary!
Wednesday, July 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 2, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. This is a synonym for
Flexibility, which helps imagination a lot. And, in my opinion,
adaptability can even help, to complete a composition.
Tuesday, July 1, 2014
Words for the Day: Tuesday, July 1, 2014
The
Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. How do these connect
with our Themes? How about an agile composition, and a graceful
imagination?
Monday, June 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, June 30, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated imagination. I sure would like that, thank you very much!
Sunday, June 29, 2014
Words for the Day: Sunday, June 29, 2014
The
Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance, both of which help
inspire the imagination, as well as making it easier to complete
compositions say, from school.
Weekly Themes: Week of 6/29 to 7/05/2014
The Themes for this Week are Composition and Imagination. Either of these can be turned into reading material. But a composition can be assigned say, in a school class. And many compositions that I remember, could have been put together, using existing sources from, for example, an encyclopedia. But my examples of imagination came from inside.
Saturday, June 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, June 28, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. And I most certainly
acknowledge those who helped me to be able to live a balanced life. (By
the way, note that it takes knowledge to acknowledge).
Friday, June 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, June 27, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. Balanced Kindness? Why not?
Because I believe that Kindness not only helps the world go around, but
helps to foster a balanced life.
Thursday, June 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, June 26, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. I definitely encourage what
helps create a balanced life. (And, by the way, it takes courage to
encourage).
Wednesday, June 25, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 25, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. Thinking before speaking
and/or acting? It's not only a way to live an ethical, but a balanced
life.
Tuesday, June 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 24, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. Balanced Support? Of course, and
it can easily be seen, at a circus, at the high wire act, where you keep
from falling off the wire, with the "balance beam", a pole that you
(hopefully) fold, equally on both sides. And it works similar to that,
in your lives.
Monday, June 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, June 23, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. And I strongly feel that a balanced life can EASILY be a comfortable life.
Sunday, June 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, June 22, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. And what could be better than a balanced meal? One that tastes great, as well? Eat well!
Weekly Theme: Week of June 22-28, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Balance. I am amazed at how many meanings this word has. My favorite, of course, is the one that leads to the phrase, "a balanced life".
Saturday, June 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, June 21, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. Prosperity, through
conservation? Well, if you save on Utility bills, by using less. For
example, I tend to not have heat on, overnight in the winter, using more
blankets instead.
Friday, June 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, June 20, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. Liberation through conservation?
(It might mean you're "liberated" from having to purchase an item as
often). Or being liberated gives you more opportunities to conserve?
Once again, I feel this works in both directions.
Thursday, June 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, June 19, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. And how does this tie in with our
Theme? Wise Conservation (which allows the Resource to stretch, so you
don't run out) doesn't require any more comment. Also, you might say
that Conservation, itself helps you to be more wise.
Wednesday, June 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 18, 2014
The
Word for Today is Impartiality. How can anyone be impartial in a storm,
whether it is a weather-related storm, a political storm, or even
planet earth, attempting to clean herself up? But it helps to try, doesn't it?
Tuesday, June 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 17, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. Now of course, there are
consequences for conservation. (As a child, for example, I remember the
"unit cost" of our household electric bill going up, as the amount our
community used, went down). That said, I believe the consequences of
wasteful use (opposite of conservation) are even worse.
Monday, June 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, June 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. Eliminate conservation? I
don't THINK so! However, I'm for eliminating wasteful activity, that is
the opposite of conservation.
Sunday, June 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, June 15, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. Conserve self-reliance? The self-reliance to conserve better? I think both.
Weekly Theme: Week of June 15-21, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Conservation. The Wikipedia article shows that there are many definitions, for this word. The one I take to heart is, where we conserve resources, such as water, so that what we have can be used by more people. But try some of the other links. I learned a lot like, for example, a psychological version of conservation.
Saturday, June 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, June 14, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. This is one to be a bit careful
of. For spiritual expansion is generally quite welcome. But expansion
around the waist area, perhaps not so much.
Friday, June 13, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, June 13, 2014
The
Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. These can both be
welcome, but be careful, because trust must be earned, and faith should
not be blind.
Thursday, June 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, June 12, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. This is one of my favorite
Words (along with Kindness). Both of these are welcome, just about any
time, and in both directions (giving and receiving).
Wednesday, June 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 11, 2014
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. Equal opportunity is welcome. In my opinion, forced conformity, not so much.
Tuesday, June 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 10, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. A certain amount of Prudence is
welcome (lest you say or do something "dumb"), but be careful to not go
overboard, and "turn into a Prude".
Monday, June 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, June 9, 2014
The
Word for Yesterday (Monday) was Innocence. Is it welcome to be
innocent? If you are in a court room, yes. Otherwise, the innocent are
usually just being themselves, and are only innocent, until someone
approaches them.
Yes, I'm late. Do you care? Sorry about that.
Yes, I'm late. Do you care? Sorry about that.
Sunday, June 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, June 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. And forgiveness can be SO
welcome, especially if the original "incident" was minor.
Weekly Theme: Week of June 8-14, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Welcome. And this works in both directions: You can welcome other people, or events, and other people can welcome you. And it can feel quite good to be welcome.
Saturday, June 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, June 7, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Authentic partnership? (As opposed to a "counterfeit" partnership?)
Yes, it's possible to get involved with people who are NOT telling the truth, which is the antithesis of authenticity. Be careful!
Yes, it's possible to get involved with people who are NOT telling the truth, which is the antithesis of authenticity. Be careful!
Friday, June 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, June 6, 2014
The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. If you are partners with
someone, and don't share the same language, interpretation is, of
course, quite important. But, in my most humble opinion, both people
should learn each other's language. One reason for that, is that both
people can be fluent in both languages, which helps with career choices,
because translation skills are highly sought out.
Thursday, June 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, June 5, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. How does this fit with our
theme (Partnership)? I believe the partnership goes smoother, if the
members bond with each other, which is helped by social gatherings.
(And if the only contact is via Facebook and, say, email, that's a
hindrance).
Wednesday, June 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 4, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. Also known as focus, this
is a way of accomplishing things in life. And when more than one person
is involved (i.e. via Partnership), concentration can become quite
powerful.
Tuesday, June 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 3, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Acceptable partnerships?
I can think of some I'd question, such as those, dedicated to criminal
activities. ("Ocean's 11", anyone?)
Monday, June 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, June 2, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. This helps the world go around,
and is to be encouraged. And it goes well with our Theme (Partnership),
as they work best, when all parties are generous with each other.
Sunday, June 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, June 1, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Do partners share with each other? If they want to be successful, they do! And successful partnerships share with the world at large, too.
Weekly Theme: Week of Jun1 1-7, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Partnership. There's even a Wikipedia page for this, useful for showing how many varieties of Partners can exist, from human relationships, organizations and businesses. I think the main point is that we can all be partners, even if in an informal way, with each other. Would a regular Facebook Friend qualify, for example?
Saturday, May 31, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, May 31, 2014
The
Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. This is the
Cliffs Notes, or Executive Summary of Reality. You don't need to
"suffer through" the "entire process" of [topic in question], if you can
read [and/or Google] it. But I WILL caution you that experience gives
more wisdom than, say, book reading.
Friday, May 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, May 30, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. This is both a deeper version of
Review (see last Tuesday), and what you see, when you look into a
mirror. Since the first variety can be a form of relaxation, it can
definitely help with conventional schooling.
Thursday, May 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, May 29, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. And one comment I have about this
is being selective. What subjects excite you? Those subjects can
actually be fun to study. (Of course, if in a conventional school, you
might not be able to choose all of your subjects).
Wednesday, May 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 28, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. And this can be an excellent
way of learning. For example, with foreign languages, it's called
"immersion training", where, after any introductions, the only language
spoken is the one being taught. So have fun, and be like a sponge! :-)
Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 27, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. And review helps life proceed
better, as it's a way of processing life, as you are living it. And
please honor those, who help you to do this.
Monday, May 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, May 26, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. I personally think that
life, itself is an experiment. If you are in the teaching field
(especially if providing guidance, or being a mentor, like in this
week's Theme), there are lots of opportunities for, either experimenting
on your own, or helping others with it.
Sunday, May 25, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, May 25, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. And yes, recognize people who help you learn, either as guides, or a mentors.
Weekly Themes: Week of May 25-31, 2014
The Themes for this Week are Guidance and Mentor. Both of these have to do with education and teaching, but tend more towards individual people. For example, many people find that having a mentor helps them survive college.
Word for the Day: Saturday, May 24, 2014
The
Word for Yesterday (Saturday) was Resolve. And resolutions can be done
at any time, not just New Years. For example, I could make a resolution
to submit these Daily Words on time.
Friday, May 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, May 23, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. How does this relate to
domestication (our theme)? For one, standing up for yourself,
especially if another member of the household is abusing something, like
for example alcohol. And, perhaps, having the courage to say no, when
appropriate.
Thursday, May 22, 2014
Words for the Day: Thursday, May 22, 2014
The
Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. And you need
both, to thrive in a "domestic" situation. And, besides "working out in
a gym", yoga can help to develop both of these.
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 21, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. And yes, running a "domestic"
household requires competence on SO many levels, that it boggles the
mind.
Tuesday, May 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. And it can take a lot of this to run a household, or even BE in a household.
Monday, May 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, May 19, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. And, of course, this IS often
practiced in a "domestic environment". And that can include a fertile
imagination, as many book authors write at home.
Sunday, May 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, May 18, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability, which definitely helps provide an
environment, where plants, animals and, of course humans (including you)
can be more comfortable in a home environment.
Weekly Theme: Week of May 18-24, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Domestication. I got a definition from a free dictionary, which gives several meanings for this Theme. Besides training animals and/or plants, to live in a human environment, there are meanings, having to do with simply feeling comfortable at home. How this fits with the Words for this Week will be interesting. Stay tuned!
Saturday, May 17, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, May 17, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. So we can be released from unhealthy situations, and become healthy? Works for me.
Friday, May 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, May 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. Now, there are more than one
medical meanings for this Word, including some you might not want to
know. But I consider the best tie-in to Health (our Theme) to simply
be, "I aspire to be as healthy as I can".
Thursday, May 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, May 15, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. Too much contrast can adversely
affect your health, for example, by making you more vulnerable to germs
that make you sick. On the other hand, too little contrast, for too
much time, could ALSO affect your health, by leaving you so bored, that
you might get depressed, and allow your body to suffer. Find that
contrast knob!
Wednesday, May 14, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 14, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. Also known as Flexibility,
this definitely helps you to stay healthy. (Here's a tool to "spot it
in the field": The flexible person adapts to his/her surroundings. The
inflexible person "asks" his/her surroundings to adapt to him/herself).
Tuesday, May 13, 2014
Words for the Day: Tuesday, May 13, 2014
The
Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. Both of these assist
in your health, of course, and both can be developed, using Yoga.
Monday, May 12, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, May 12, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Health? Well, this can feel
good, to a point and (for example with a disease) accelerated healing
can work quite well. But too much acceleration in a motor vehicle can
result in a traffic ticket. Be careful.
Sunday, May 11, 2014
Words for the Day: Sunday, May 11, 2014
The
Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance, both of which help
with many layers of health, including physical, emotional and mental.
Weekly Theme: Week of May 11-17, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Health. What does it mean to be healthy? First off, I believe it has to do with more than just the health of the body. For example, I believe that emotional and mental health is important.
Saturday, May 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, May 10, 2014
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. Absolutely, I suggest acknowledging those who provide service to you.
One note: It takes knowledge to acknowledge.
One note: It takes knowledge to acknowledge.
Friday, May 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, May 9, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. How does this fit in with Service
(our Theme)? First off, kindness can be a service in itself, especially
if the person you are being kind to doesn't return the favor. But
also, when people DO provide good service to you, show them kindness!
Thursday, May 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, May 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. And I would definitely
encourage good service. (Incidentally, you need courage to encourage).
Wednesday, May 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 7, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. Be thoughtful, both when
you are providing service, AND when you are accepting service from
someone else.
Tuesday, May 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 6, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. Providing the service of
supporting others? There are plenty of examples, all the way from child
care, to elder care. And, while you're at it, see if you can find your
support group.
Monday, May 5, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, May 5, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. Comfortable service? Service of
comfort? Comfort for employees, while they are providing service to a
corporation? (The last one is often one that is neglected). The idea,
here is how many ways a Theme can go with a Word.
Sunday, May 4, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, May 4, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is
Nourishment. "The Service of Nourishment?" Of course! If you work as a
cook, for example.
Weekly Theme: Week of May 4-10, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Service. There are so many meanings of Service, that I have lost count! One I find important is "volunteer service", that is freely offered. One question I often ask, is how the Theme goes with each of the seven Words. In this case, I believe these will fit together well. Follow with me, to see for yourself.
Saturday, May 3, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, May 3, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. Complete prosperity?
Prosperity, due to completion? And remember that Prosperity can relate
to, other than money. For example, prosperity of creativity, which
allows for lots of published works.
Friday, May 2, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, May 2, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. "Complete Liberation"? (I like
the sound of that, by the way). How about being "liberated" from a
project, when its completion is found to be improbable? That happened, a
handful of times, during my computer career, where management wanted a
project that had multiple aspects, one of which would destroy another
aspect. (At least once, it FELT like being liberated from a sort of
prison, as I had been doing my best to complete a project, that would
have been "in a civil war with itself").
Feel free to ask questions, about this fiasco. Know that it was a technical, computer software project.
Feel free to ask questions, about this fiasco. Know that it was a technical, computer software project.
Thursday, May 1, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, May 1, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. Much as I don't like completing
projects (laziness?), I've found that wisdom frequently comes from the
experience of completion (assuming, of course, the project was worth
it).
In general, I'd say that Wisdom comes more from life experience, than from book reading.
In general, I'd say that Wisdom comes more from life experience, than from book reading.
Wednesday, April 30, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 30, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. People look for "complete
impartiality" on their news. Unfortunately, it's hard to find, because
most of us have biases.
Tuesday, April 29, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 29, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. I'm sorry to say, but
consequences go both way, regarding our Theme. If you complete a
project, expect consequences. If you "never seem able to" complete a
project, perhaps due to "terminal procrastination", ALSO expect
consequences. How they relate to each other depends, of course, on the
project. If the project benefits humanity, expect consequences
(including impatience and exasperation), if you keep delaying the
project. If the project HARMS humanity, you might be a respected member
of the public, and highly regarded, BEFORE the project is completed,
but then, the consequences come QUICKLY when you are caught with the
project.
Monday, April 28, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, April 28, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. If I'm looking for Completion
(our Theme), the first thing I think I'd look to eliminate is
Procrastination. (But then, the joke would go something like, "...but
that's assuming that I get around to it!")
Sunday, April 27, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, April 27, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. Complete self-reliance?
Well, self-reliance might be a trait, that helps a person complete
projects.
Weekly Theme: Week of April 27 to May 3, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Completion. Have you ever noticed that it can often be easier to begin a project, than to complete it? Why might that be? It might take me all week, to figure this out. :-)
Saturday, April 26, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, April 26, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. Expanded vision? This can even
be physical if. for example, your actual "eye vision" has improved. I
like the book, "The Art of Seeing", by Aldous Huxley which provides information (including exercises) to improve your vision.
Another form of expansion I like is spiritual expansion. But be careful of expansion, around the middle of your body.
Another form of expansion I like is spiritual expansion. But be careful of expansion, around the middle of your body.
Friday, April 25, 2014
Words for the Day: Friday, April 25, 2014
The
Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Do I trust my visions?
Actually, it depends on the details but, in general, I do. Remember
that, in general, with human beings, trust must be earned, and faith
should not be blind.
Thursday, April 24, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, April 24, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. Visions of Gratitude?
Gratitude for the Visions, that helped my life go forward? Both, of
course! And remember, folks, that Gratitude, like kindness, helps
Mother Earth go around.
Wednesday, April 23, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 23, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. A vision of equality? It
depends on the "type" of equality. I'm all for equal opportunity, for
instance, but not so much, in favor of forced conformity, which includes
all students (usually of religious schools) wearing the same type of
clothing.
Tuesday, April 22, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 22, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. No matter what sort of profound
Vision you might have for your life, the practical also needs to be
taken care of. That's where Prudence comes in. However, be careful not
to go overboard, to avoid "turning into a Prude".
Monday, April 21, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, April 21, 2014
The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Innocence of Vision? Visions of Innocence?
The first was an exhibition, by Robbin Zella, noted on the Housatonic Museum of Art website.
The second is a book, by Edward Hoffman, about spiritual and peak experiences from childhood.

Sunday, April 20, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, April 20, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. Please forgive my
Vision. It's only 20-200 in the left eye, so I had trouble seeing that
road sign, back there. Oh, I'm supposed to be wearing glasses? :-D
What do you expect? I'm just "supposed" to get these Themes to work with these Words. You expect Profound? Perhaps tomorrow...
What do you expect? I'm just "supposed" to get these Themes to work with these Words. You expect Profound? Perhaps tomorrow...
Weekly Theme: Week of April 20-26, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Vision. So how's YOUR Vision? 20/20? That's considered "normal". 20/40? Near-sighted, but not bad enough to have to wear glasses. 20/200 in one eye? You BETTER wear glasses to drive. 20/200 in BOTH eyes? That's considered legally blind, without glasses.
On the other side, there's 20/10, like I was, until college. It's less common, but called, "Far Sighted". In higher terms, it's seeing "the higher good", more than "local reality".
One thing people do, periodically, is a Vision Quest. Try it, some day! Thank you.

Saturday, April 19, 2014
Word for the Day: Saturday, April 19, 2014
The
Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. An Authentic Union? As
opposed to a counterfeit union? Well, I STILL haven't seen the
"Certificate of Authenticity" for a human body (I'm not sure if a "Birth
Certificate" qualifies, as President Barack Obama has found out). Other
Unions might have better Certificates, such as the papers, forming a
Corporation but, in some states (i.e. Delaware), you don't have to do
much to become a corporation. Oh well...
Friday, April 18, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, April 18, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Interpret your Union? Well,
that might help it work better. And a reminder: Knowing more than one
language gives you great career path, as a Translator.
Word for the Day: Thursday, April 17, 2014
The
Word for Yesterday (Thursday) was Socialization. It's great that people
in ANY "Union" (whether academic, career, or relationship) socialize,
including on places like Facebook or Google+. However, I always
recommend meeting in person, also.
Wednesday, April 16, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 16, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. You get what you
concentrate on. And if you're in a union (i.e. marriage, job, etc),
it's good to spend time concentrating on the health of others, in that
union, as well as the Union itself.
Tuesday, April 15, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 15, 2014
The
Word For Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Acceptable partnership?
(I'll give an example of a "less acceptable" type of partnership: A
Crime Syndicate!)
Word for the Day: Monday, April 14, 2014
The
Word for Yesterday (Monday) is Generosity. In general, this helps the
world go around. In a union, (i.e. partnership), it helps the people
get along, so they can accomplish the tasks, the partnership wants to
do.
Sunday, April 13, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, April 13, 2014
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Share your union? If it's one type (marriage), certainly! Maybe others examples might not be ones people wish to share, like that the company you've worked for many years is "forming a union" with another company, and laying off a bunch of employees including, possibly you.
In other words, be careful what you share.
In other words, be careful what you share.
Weekly Theme: Week of April 13-19, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Union. I just asked Google to "define union", which gives me multiple meanings, mainly combination of a number of things or people, into a smaller number of them. Some of them can be pleasant, such as marriage (but notice that I did say "can be"). Other types of union can be less pleasant, such as merging corporations together. (While this can be pleasant to the top managers, it tends to be less so, to the rank and file employees). That said, there can be a union between management and employees, called a labor union. If run well, this can help both sides.
Saturday, April 12, 2014
Words for the Day: Saturday, April 12, 2014
The
Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. These make up
the Executive Summary of life, and I believe that they help to integrate
ideas, FROM the point of view of the "Big Picture".
Friday, April 11, 2014
Word for the Day: Friday, April 11, 2014
The
Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. Both a deep way of pondering
say, the day you just lived, and something you look into, for example, in a
bathroom. So how do we integrate these? How about a special
meditation I learned a long time ago (and remembered today, right now at
my computer): The "mirror meditation", which is an open-eye
meditation, in front of a mirror, where I look into the mirror, but
don't focus. Try it out!
Thursday, April 10, 2014
Word for the Day: Thursday, April 10, 2014
The
Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. First off, this Word is both a Noun
(i.e. "Meet me in my study") and a verb ("I'll need to study more,
before that test tomorrow"). And how do these two versions of the Word
integrate with each other? (Besides something like, "I'll need to take
time, in my study, to study before tomorrow's test")?
Wednesday, April 9, 2014
Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 9, 2014
The
Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Our theme? Hmmm... So, a
sponge uses absorption to "integrates" all the food wastes, so that the cooking utensils
can be "segregated" from the dirt, and food waste? (I never thought
this "self-created job" would be easy for me).
Tuesday, April 8, 2014
Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 8, 2014
The
Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. This goes well with our Theme, as
Review is a way to integrate different things you might have learned,
during your daily "life experiences". (And it works well, in school
too).
Monday, April 7, 2014
Word for the Day: Monday, April 7, 2014
The
Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. "Experimenting with
Integration"? In my high school chemistry class, Literally, as we mixed
chemicals together, with the suggestion that we don't mix "incompatible"
ones, else they might explode!
Note, by the way, that this includes some household cleaning formulas. For example, NEVER "integrate" the acid-based Toilet Bowl cleaner with Clorox bleach. You could die!
Note, by the way, that this includes some household cleaning formulas. For example, NEVER "integrate" the acid-based Toilet Bowl cleaner with Clorox bleach. You could die!
Sunday, April 6, 2014
Word for the Day: Sunday, April 6, 2014
The
Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. "Recognize integration"? [Some
of these go together easier than others]. However, I WILL say that I
recognize those who help me with my life.
Weekly Theme: Week of April 6-12, 2014
The Theme for this Week is Integration. It's fascinating that this Theme comes right after anniversaries, having to do with the United States Civil Rights act of 1964 (as well as the death of Martin Luther King Jr, who fought over Civil Rights). Because integration of different races was a big part of this act.
