Word for the Day: Monday, May 31, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.

What does it mean to be innocent? Opposite of guilty? Or looking at life as if everything is new, like a child might? Both, probably.

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 30, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.

People think this means to forget what somebody did, but that is not the way I see it. To tie this to this week's theme, I see Forgiveness as an attempt to salvage the personal relationship between myself and the other person.

Weekly Themes, Week of May 30 to June 5, 2010

There are two Themes for this Week: Salvage and Salvation.

An example: After an automobile accident, a car may be unusable, but still have good tires. So, the tires are Salvaged. The word Salvation has religious connotations, suggesting that it is US PEOPLE who are damaged. So are they asking if we still have usable parts?

Please help me out, folks! Thank you.

Saturday, May 29, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 29, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.

This is related to last Tuesday's word (Acceptability), as it is easier to accept an Authentic person. One slang way of suggesting Authenticity to another person is, "Be real!"

Friday, May 28, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, May 28, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.

Interpret: Take an idea and translate it so others can understand it? Take an experience of yours and make it understandable? All of the above?

Yes, Interpretation is a tool of understanding.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 27, 2010

The Word for Today is Socialization.

What does it mean to be social? Social Studies in school?

This is not easy.

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 26, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentrate.

What do you concentrate on? Constructive action, or "doom and gloom"? I have found, first hand, that actual concentration on a task makes it easier to accomplish it. But, on the other hand, concentrating on why something will not work makes it difficult (or even impossible) to make headway on it. One game, found in the world in human relationships, is "Why don't you?", with the response, "Yes, but...", where "but" is followed by all the reasons the suggestion won't work. (I put a link on the word, "game" back there, to an article about a book by Eric Byrne, called "Games People Play").

Suggestion? Concentrate on the tasks you wish to accomplish.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 25, 2010

The Word for Today is Acceptability.

To bring in our theme, is Addiction ever Acceptable? It often triggers behavior that can only be described as "Service to Self, at the Expense of Others". (At the worst, people addicted to hard street drugs will use crime to get money to purchase their next "fix").

My suggestion? Be acceptable, and be accepting.

Monday, May 24, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, May 24, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.

Tying this to our Theme, being generous to others can take your mind off of your addictions.

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 23, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.

Sharing is generally a good thing, except that it seems to clash a bit with Addiction (theme for this week). But sharing ways to get out of Addiction sounds good.

Weekly Theme: Week of May 23 to 29, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Addiction.

I'm not quite sure what the Michael Teachings has in mind with this Theme, unless it is dealing WITH Addiction, including healing it. Any ideas?

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Words for the Day: Saturday, May 22, 2010

The Words for Today are Overview and Perspective.

The big picture view. As to Perspective, have any of you seen pictures by M. C. Escher? You can learn a lot about the theory of Perspective by attempting to traverse some of his drawings.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, May 21, 2010

The Word for Today is Reflection.

This is taking your time and processing what you did, as well as what you experienced. It also has to do with how you look in a mirror. These might actually be related.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 20, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.

Like Tuesday's word (Review), this can often remind one of school. For example, both can be important to passing a test. And both can be important outside of school also. For example, I study consciousness, while I live my life.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 19, 2010

The Word for Today is Absorption.

To absorb. Does not seem like a human attribute, does it? But I can be so absorbed in a movie that I forget time passage and that I'm even in a movie theater. Could that be it?

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 18, 2010

The Word for Today is Review.

This is going back, to see what you did before. Seems simple, and it can be, but don't leave important things out!

Monday, May 17, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, May 17, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.

To bring in this week's theme, it can take a lot of experimentation to successfully simplify your life.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 16, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.

Tying this to our Weekly Theme isn't too hard: Recognize what in your life can be done to make your life simpler.

Weekly Theme: May 16-22, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Simplification.

Life can get quite complicated these days! That's why it can be good to evaluate everything in your life at times, cutting out those things that take up a lot of your resources without adding much to your life. Spring cleaning can be more than physically dealing with a home.

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 15, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.

This word is a noun ("let's show some resolve") and a verb ("I resolve to quit something").

I'm not sure which one of these was in mind here. How about "I resolve to show some resolve today"?

Friday, May 14, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, May 14, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.

This is one you might not feel when it is happening, but only notice after the fact. Because during the situation, you might simply be "being yourself", and not thinking too much. (Yes, "thinking too much" can mean obsessing on fear, and not acting constructively).

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Words for the Day: Thursday, May 13, 2010

Two Words for Today: Strength and Empowerment.

What does it mean to be strong? Physical power only? How about a "force of will"?

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 12, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.

This word brings up the Peter Principle in business (where people stop getting promoted when they get to where they are NOT competent).

Do you think of the word Competence when you look at Congress?

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 11, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.

How much can we endure? I know I often get tested in that manner. How about you?

Monday, May 10, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday,Fi May 10, 2010

The Word for Today is Fertility.

Fertile imagination? This is where books come from, folks!

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 9, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.

I've recently been attempting to tie the Word with the Theme. But how do you have a "stable sacrifice"? Sacrifice a Stable (on a farm)?

Let's just leave it at the fact that Stability is a good thing to have in your life.

Weekly Theme: Week of May 9-15, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Sacrifice.

Here's a word with lots of connotations! Even in the Michael System, it's the Positive Pole of the Chief Feature (or Obstacle) of Self Destruction.

In life, we often prioritize. Those items that end up low on the priority list get "sacrificed" for those higher up on the list. Just be aware of this process when it occurs.

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 8, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.

This can be as simple as finding the "release latch" on the luggage rack, to as profound as a prisoner looking forward to his/her big release date after several years in prison.

What do you need to be released from?

Friday, May 7, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, May 7, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.

I find this such a funny sounding word, but it's an important one, because if you don't shoot for something greater than you already are, you are likely to become stagnant. And you know what happens to a pool of stagnant water.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 6, 2010

The Word for Today is Contrast.

This word works in more ways than one. For example, there might be a knob on your TV set called Contrast (noun). Or you might Contrast one experience from another (verb).

Whatever, heads up, you are likely to find some contrasts in your life.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 5, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.

What does it mean to adapt? To change, related to the environment around you? A wording I like better is to "make adjustments". For example, a television program is at a moderate volume. Then, it's commercial time, with the commercial at high volume. So, to adapt, turn the TV volume down. (And, then, perhaps raise it a bit when the program resumes).

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Words for the Day: Tuesday, May 4, 2010

There are two Words for Today (Tuesday): Agility and Grace.

Once again, for those who are searching for ways of developing these two traits: Yoga comes to mind.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, May 3, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.

This word is good, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. For example, in a car, watch out for speeding tickets. But spiritual acceleration is great!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Words for the Day: Sunday, May 2, 2010

There are two Words for Today (Sunday), Patience and Tolerance.

Contrary to popular belief, Tolerance is not the same thing as Acceptance. Acceptance is much more neutral (as well as being one of the seven Goals in the Michael Teachings).

Patience goes along with Tolerance, as people tend not to be patient with people they "can't stand".

Weekly Theme: Week of May 2-8, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Prophecy.

The funny thing here is that we all do this a little bit (for example, anticipating a phone call from someone we haven't heard from in a long time, shortly before he/she actually calls). It's just that some people are more consistent with the talent.

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 1, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgment.

It is, of course, always good to acknowledge those who help you directly, but how about those who help you indirectly?

By the way, I find a lot in common between this word and Recognition (which comes two weeks from tomorrow).
