Word for the Day: Thursday, January 31, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  And good humor (our Theme) is a great way to get along with people you socialize with.

For those who are following the Michael DNA Chart, with its Numerology, today has the number of 229, on the Truth side (others being Love and Energy/Beauty).  Today is a Triple Sage day, with Global Job matching the Theme and Community Responsibility matching the Word.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 30, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  Tying this to our Theme, I put "concentrated humor" into Google, and was surprised to get 858 results.  :-)

More generally, keep in mind that you tend to get what you concentrate (or focus) on.

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 29, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  This ties into our Theme, because I do not feel that it's a good idea to widely spread unacceptable humor, the worst of which is cruelty to others, but with laughter.  (Note:  I feel painfully uncomfortable watching The Three Stooges).

Monday, January 28, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, January 28, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  The comedians that I like the best are the ones who are generous with their humor.

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 27, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  And, of course, humor is one of the most pleasant things to share.  (Otherwise, why would stand-up comics be so popular?)

Weekly Theme: Week of 01/27 - 02/02/2013

The Theme for this Week is Humor.  This is certainly a theme I like a lot.  And it can even help people be more healthy.  (For example, Reader's Digest has a segment called, "Laughter, the best medicine").

Words for the Day: Saturday, January 26, 2013

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  This is the Cliffs Notes, or Executive Summary of life.  Perspective, in particular, has many definitions, including my favorite, "cognitive reference point", or "point of view".  And having a good overview of the concepts, behind a mediation, is crucial in being an effective mediator.

Word for the Day: Friday, January 25, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  "Let's reflect on what we've learned this week".  This week has been about mediation, as well as being about many different ways people can learn.  If I have to choose one of the other Words, to compare with today's one, I'd choose Tuesday's word, Review.  Because reflection is a more intense and focused method of review.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 24, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  And good mediators must study both sides of any issues they're mediating on.  This goes, even for "amateur mediators", like I was when I was a child, needing to intervene between my parents.  (But my "birth chart" has this Theme as my Global Job, which made me "qualified").

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 23, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  This ties in with Mediation (our Theme) because, when listening to both sides, it's good to listen so well, that you are absorbing both sides of the issue, such that you can be effective as an impartial mediator.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  This ties into our Theme very easily, because mediators absolutely need to review the details on both sides, before coming up with the questions to ask of the parties in question.  If you feel you've already made up your mind, and have no needs of the facts, why do you think you'd make a good mediator?

Monday, January 21, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, January 21, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  What would an "experiment in mediation" look like?  Mediation where it's not popular?  Mediation in a situation where it had not been attempted before?  Whatever you do, remember the paperwork.  :-)

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 20, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  Tying this to our Theme is problematical, though it's helpful to recognize those who can be impartial enough to be good mediators.

Weekly Theme: Week of January 20-26, 2013

The Theme for this Week is Mediation.  According to Google's "define mediation", "a negotiation to resolve differences that is conducted by some impartial party".  The difficulty, here, is the word, "impartial" because, even in a court of law, the judge can have an opinion about the case in point.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 19, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  We're nearing the end of our week (and Theme) of Cooperation.  But both of these are keepers, because they pretty much always help us through our lives.  For example, "I resolve to cooperate more with other people".

Friday, January 18, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, January 18, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  Sometimes, it takes a lot of courage to cooperate with some other people, especially if you don't agree with all of the views of those other people.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Words for the Day: Thursday, January 17, 2013

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  If you can cooperate, from a position of strength, your cooperation can empower all of the people who are involved.  In fact, I think this says it all.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 16, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  General competence in life, as well as in the required skills, in your line of work, make it easier to cooperate with others.  For example, lack of competence can confuse (and/or frustrate) those around you, making them less interested in working with you.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 15, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  I firmly believe that life is easier to endure, when people cooperate with each other.

Monday, January 14, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, January 14, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  Ideally, this works well with Cooperation (our Theme), because it takes two to "be fruitful and multiply".  Note that I did say "ideally", because there are some who use violence to attempt to take what they want.

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 13, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  It is easier to cooperate, in a stable environment.  Why?  Because who you're cooperating with is easier to discern.  (In an extremely unstable environment, it can even be hard to determine if the "other entity" is a partner or an opponent).

Weekly Theme: Week of January 13-19, 2013

The Theme for this Week is Cooperation.  Why is cooperation, in general, better than competition?  Because, in business, it gives more choices to the american people.  (What?  More choice?  Business B competes against business A, trying to drive it out of business.  If it succeeds, the choices from business A are removed from the marketplace).  There are arguments on the other side, so your "mileage may vary".

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 12, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  Life gives us plenty of highways and byways to circulate through.  Unfortunately, some of these can make us feel trapped.  But look around, because there are generally "release levers" to help you improve your surroundings.  And please, slow down and take time to smell the flowers.

Friday, January 11, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, January 11, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  How does this connect to our theme?  "I aspire to circulate through life as effectively as I can".  OK.  :-)

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 10, 2013

The Word for today (Thursday) is Contrast.  As you are circulating through the roads, highways, subways, airways, and/or seaways of life, you observe, and/or even experience many contrasts.  Bad things might happen to good people.  Good things might happen to people you label "bad".  Exciting things may happen to people you label "mediocre".  And finally, mediocre things may happen to people who seem exciting.  So where do you fit, in all of this?  :-)

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 9, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  This is, of course, flexibility, the flexibility to "be small", or to "be large", at least figuratively (but maybe sometimes more literally!)   Also, flexibility allows you to "blend in" to the environment around you.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Words for the day: Tuesday, January 8, 2013

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  These two traits help with yesterday's Acceleration, which can help you circulate through your life.  (Wow!  Imagine how well that worked out!)  But you don't have to be fast, to be agile or graceful.  In fact, I find these traits are often learned better, through going slowly.  For example, try walking a labyrinth.  Note that this is available in many cities in the United States (as well as in the world).

Monday, January 7, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, January 7, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  One part of Circulation (our Theme) is the circulation around the country (or world), via our cars, trucks, buses, and so forth.  Yes, circulation is good but, if done unsafely (including too fast), it can stop suddenly.  So be careful of too much acceleration.

Words for the Day: Sunday, January 6, 2013

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  One concept, in the New Age movement is making affirmations.  What people forget is that it takes time for these affirmations to make their way into our day-to-day physical reality.  This is because it takes time for them to Circulate through our Aura, as well as the non-physical Planes of Existence, before they finally make their way back "home".

Another thing (besides clock time) that can interfere with affirmations, are what I call "deniers".  For example, the following two statements can interfere with each other, even to cancelling each other out:  "I affirm I will be rich", can be cancelled out by, "I do not deserve much money".

This takes me back to our Words:  "I will patiently wait for the result", as well as, "I will neutrally tolerate when reality doesn't match my affirmation, because either insufficient time has passed, or I need to change some of my beliefs, that could interfere with the affirmation".

Weekly Theme: Week of January 6-12, 2013

The Theme for this Week is Circulation.  What do we think of, when we think of circulation?  It happens on different levels:  Blood circulates, library books circulate, and money circulates.  Also, when discussing an electric motor, it is best if oil is circulating inside of it.  Circulation makes things last longer:  Our body (blood), our economy (money), a motor (oil) and our literacy (library books).  In fact, I believe that circulation forms a part of sustainability.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 5, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  Just like, last Thursday, it took courage to encourage, today it takes knowledge to acknowledge.  Know who has helped you in your life, so you can acknowledge them.

Friday, January 4, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, January 4, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  Any time the percentage of kind acts rise in this country, we have a right to celebrate.  And that is why I celebrate #26acts, which ask for everybody to imagine what life would be like, if everybody would perform 26 acts of kindness, to honor each life, lost in Newtown, Connecticut in December, 2012.

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 3, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  It takes courage to encourage, already something to celebrate.  But the other aspect is to use discernment in your encouragement, or you might have a "long term relationship" to what you encouraged!

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 2, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  The world would definitely be a place to celebrate if more people would just think, before speaking and/or acting.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 1, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  Do you have an active support group?  Are you in the support group of other people?  If you answered "no" to either (or especially both) of those questions, look closer.  Often, these support relationships are subtle.

If you know who supports you, and who you support, this is something to celebrate!

Happy New Year!
