The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  Keeping with our weekly theme, I firmly believe that the meaning of today's combination is not to eliminate conservation, but to eliminate what stands in the way of conservation and environmentalism.

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  Conservation is quite important, and something to definitely be self-reliant on.  One personal example:  Purchasing paper towels, and bathroom tissues made from recycled paper fibers.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 29 - August 4, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Conservation.  To conserve.  The problem is that conservation is considered an environmental topic.  But another variation on "conserve" is to be "conservative".  Think about that!

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  I've said this before, but spiritual expansion is generally fantastic, but expansion around the middle, not so much.  :-)

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  I've said this before, but Trust must be earned, and Faith shouldn't be blind.  Trust the Universe and have Faith in a higher power.

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  Are you an authentic human being?  How do you know?  I hate being "partisan", but some, in politics want you to answer that question, before asserting your right to vote.

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  We all have experiences.  The trick is to be able to interpret them.  For example, what's important in the long run?  Interpretation can also be a good career move.

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Keeping with our theme, when with a partner (especially a domestic one), some people are tempted to exclusively interact with that partner, with only limited access to other people.  In my opinion, that is a mistake, because we need a well rounded connection to others.  Indeed, human beings are social animals.

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  This is a good trait to develop because, as the saying goes, "You get what you concentrate on".  There was a long-running daytime TV game show by this name, as well as a card game.

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  There is a paradox:  To be acceptable to others, do not try to force the issue.  That would be what is called "ingratiation", or what is called "being a people-pleaser".  A good start to true acceptability is to be acceptable to yourself.

The Theme for this Week is Partnership.  There is an old saying that goes something like [paraphrased]:  "None of us are islands unto ourselves".  To go farther, I could suggest that we are all partners, and get farther by cooperation, rather than competition.

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  Keeping with our Education theme, this is the "executive" method of learning, also used for subjects we don't major in:  Instead of reading whole books, we could, instead, read "Cliff Notes editions".  Or, as has been recently popular, ________ for Dummies.  (Fill in the blank).  But a well-balanced approach to life does give give a level of perspective to life.

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  This is an introspective method of study, which can come close to meditation.  In other words, "reflect on that experiment you did last Monday".

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  I'll express this in a hypothetical, semi-humorous way:  First, there was Monday's experiment.  Then, on Tuesday, a review of how well that experiment worked.  Then, on Wednesday, a chance to get absorbed in lectures and documentaries of how the experiment SHOULD have worked.  And then, today, study hall!  Does this sound like how school went (or is going)?

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  This is an unusual method of learning  --  think of the "immersion method" of learning an alternative world language.  It makes me think of a sponge.

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  We continue with this week's themes (Guidance and Mentor  --  in effect, educational issues).  After yesterday's experimentation, comes the paperwork of today, where you "review" how successful the experiment actually was.  Did you learn anything from it (or them)?  Did anything go wrong (such as broken glassware)?  But, most importantly, did you clean up that glassware?  :-)

Weekly Themes: Week of July 8-14, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Guidance and Mentor.  For the most part, we have experiences in giving and receiving both of these.  For example, I might ask a person on the street if they know where the Amtrak train station is.  Assuming they know, and give me the right answer, I received guidance from them.  Also, I may be visiting a friend at his/her home, who is having trouble with his/her computer.  I have no trouble sitting down and mentoring people on computer use.  Giving and receiving:  They both work.

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  A couple of weeks ago (on a Thursday), the word was Encouragement.  These are related as, on one hand, it takes courage to encourage but, on the other hand, encouragement is lending your courage to another person.

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  The connection with our Theme (Domestication) can be problematic, as home life can be hard to endure at times.  Fortunately, yoga and a good diet can help with these issues.

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  In its "usual" definition, this goes perfectly with Domestication (our theme):  "Be fruitful and multiply".  (Note:  I'm not saying I fully agree with the prior sentence, at this time in history).

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  And I believe this helps with our theme, as a stable family environment usually helps.
