Word for the Day: Saturday, July 31, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.

Prosperity can have many meanings, such as a prosperity of creativity. It's not only about money, though that is also important.

As the Vulcans [in the Star Trek universe] say: Live long and prosper.

Friday, July 30, 2010

The Word for the Day: Friday, July 30, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.

What holds us back in life? Often, it can be our own attitudes. For example, who is more likely to succeed? A person who acts on idealism, or a person who acts on cynicism? Unless you are a successful stand-up comic, idealism is likely to take you further in life. And a change of attitude from cynicism could be looked at as a form of liberation.

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 29, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.

I've discussed the need for life experience before. In fact, you are more likely to hear mention of wisdom, with regard to older people. ("Young and wise?" Not as often).

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 28, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.

Needless to say, this is a difficult trait to develop. For example, just look at your daily news. (To look even further, compare the news on different networks, or especially from different countries).

One clue: This trait requires a lot of neutrality. In the Michael teachings, the role of Scholar can understand the issues easiest, as they are the neutral role.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 27, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.

To tie this to Completion (weekly theme), nothing is complete, until everybody, involved, is satisfied. This is the law of Karma, which says, in effect, "What goes around, comes around". In Physics, it's stated as, "an action causes an equal reaction".

The best way to handle this is to think before you speak or act.

Monday, July 26, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, July 26, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.

This word has multiple meanings, some of which people often don't like to hear, such as the version of elimination, tied to the human digestive process. However, that is so necessary that a person can die if it is prevented.

Another meaning for Elimination is eliminating items from a house or apartment that no longer serve a purpose. In other words, "cleaning house", which can often be a very difficult task, if the home in question is in a state of clutter. (Unfortunately, mine is!)

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 25, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.

This word goes well with the weekly theme (Completion), as self-reliance is needed to be a complete human being. (It's not the only needed trait, however, as a complete human being relates well with other people).

Weekly Theme: Week of July 25 - 31, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Completion.

Ever notice that it is easier to initiate a project than it is to complete one? I certainly know that I have a lot of incomplete projects!

Also note that this marks the last week of the truth-based "Lesser Michael Year". There are three "lesser years", with 343 days in them, to make up a 1029 day "greater year". Next week begins the second of these three "lesser years", which will be love-based. (The third will be energy, or beauty-based).

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 24, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.

Some scientists say the Universe is expanding. Are you?

Friday, July 23, 2010

Words for the Day: Friday, July 23, 2010

There are Two Words for Today: Trust and Faith.

I've stated this before, but wish to expand on it: Trust must be earned, and Faith should not be blind. Yes, there are institutions that try to demand that you trust them, as well as have faith in them. For example, churches and governments. Both of these can be corrupt, however, even leading people to their deaths. An example of a government like that: Pol Pot in Cambodia. An example of a "religion" [cult] like that: Jonestown.

Here's what has worked for me: Find my real higher self. It is often described as the "still, small voice" within. For me, it is so still and small that I don't actually "hear" it, but just "know" it happened, and, when I, myself am still, understand it. What drowns it out most is the "usual" internal "bicker" about what occurred in the past, as well as what's in store for the future. But what I've found is that it's gentle, kind, and doesn't mislead me (though I sometimes think it is, before I understand the "why", behind an experience I was led into). It is also consistent. (The "counterfeit" voices, often much louder, can bounce you all over the place).

Good luck in all of this!

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 22, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.

And I extend an immense amount of gratitude to everybody who has helped me to become who I am today. Thank you, all!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 21, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.

To tie this to Vision (weekly theme), eyesight seems to work better when our eyes equally see what is around them. (Preferably 20/20, also).

I've said this before: Equal opportunity for all!

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 20, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.

First off, the dictionary states, "Descretion in practical affairs". In the Michael Teachings, there is an Attitude that comes to mind, "Pragmatist", that tends to be practical.

The best thing I can suggest is to think before you speak or act.

Monday, July 19, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, July 19, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.

I find it amusing that this word comes right after Forgiveness, as why would one need to forgive someone who is innocent? But it does appear to fit with the theme, Vision, as a clear vision of where you need to go with your life makes it easier to live your life ethically.

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 18, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.

If we had more of a spirit of forgiveness in this world (especially countries forgiving each other), there would be no reason to wage war, and the world would be a much better place.

Weakly Theme: Week of July 18 - 24, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Vision.

How is your eyesight? How about your inner eyesight, where you keep watch over how your life is going? Both need to be strong.

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 17, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.

One well-used opposite of authentic is counterfeit. And I'll leave you with a question: What would it mean to be a counterfeit person?

Friday, July 16, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, July 16, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.

Hello! Can you please translate your Comments to English, before posting them? I have 10 pending Comments, all in Chinese, to moderate. I will do it this time, with the help of Google's translation tools, but could you please comment in the same language as the BLOG?

By the way, it is great that this word comes up now.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 15, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.

I've said this before. But it's not me, it's John Donne (except he said "man" instead of "one"): No one is an island unto him/herself. What it means to me is that we are all connected, and might as well relate socially to each other.

Incidentally, this is a good lesson for me, who often plays the role of "loner".

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 14, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.

Remember the game show of this name? It was designed to test how many items (locations within a square) that a contestant could remember. Yesterday, I read that there is a finite number of proper names a person can hold in their memory simultaneously. (Yes, it's not just me who forgets people's names).

Finally, remember that you get what you concentrate on (as it's generally considered a priority).

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 13, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.

This is an interesting topic, as what is acceptable behavior varies widely from group to group. For example, take Etiquette (i.e. "Miss Manners"). That helps in many cases, but perhaps less in motorcycle gangs.

One priority I have, which, in my opinion, should be obvious is acceptability to myself. That can be a yardstick, as I ask myself if I'm still acceptable to myself if I follow the behavior asked by others. (For example, if somebody only considers me acceptable if I attend loud rock concerts or rough bars, I'd say no, because it's not acceptable to me).

In summary, be acceptable to yourself.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, July 12, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.

Please note that Generosity has to do with more than money: For example, to be generous with your praise. Also, I have observed that when I am generous, the Universe tends to be generous also.

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 11, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.

To connect this to the theme for this week, people who are united with each other (however closely or "loosely"), appear to share more freely than people do, who feel separate from each other.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 11-17, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Union.

This reminds me of the yearly "State of the Union" address in the United States, which usually begins something like, "The state of our Union is strong".

Why unite? There is an old saying, "United we stand, divided we fail".

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Words for the Day: Saturday, July 10, 2010

Two Words for Today (Friday): Overview and Perspective.

This is like asking Reality for the Executive Summary. Doesn't always work, but, as they say, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained".

Friday, July 9, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, July 9, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.

As mentioned before, there are multiple angles to Reflection: The fact that we are all mirrors for each other, and a deeper version of Review (Tuesday's word). An example of the latter would be a statement like, "Reflect on what you did earlier today".

In general, I like mirrors.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 8, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.

This is related to Tuesday's word, as Review is a form (actually a subset) of Study.

Remember that Study should not be limited to when in school. In fact, it can keep the mind and brain sharp and active, even when the physical years go up. Look for books of "Brain Teasers". There is often a lot of study needed to be able to complete many of them.

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 7, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.

One example of Absorption is a way of watching a movie: Become absorbed in it. Some people say it's like "becoming the movie", or "entering the universe of the movie". The last movie I was able to do this with was Avatar (especially when it was in 3D).

In the Michael Teachings, the Scholars can be extremely good at this.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 6, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.

Review is very scalable, meaning that it can be big or small. Small might be reviewing what happened in the meeting the prior hour. Big could mean a job performance review. But one thing that does help is to review each day before going to bed. That way, you are more ready for the next day.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, July 5, 2010.

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.

As a [Michael Teachings] Scholar Role, this is one of my favorite Daily Words.

As a child, I would take things apart, in order to figure out how they work. (Unfortunately, doing this with my Father's watch wasn't very popular with my parents).

Experiment, but experiment carefully.

Sunday, July 4, 2010

Word for the day: Sunday, July 4, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.

To tie this in to our theme, it can be helpful to Recognize items (or people) that can be Integrated.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 4-10, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Integration.

This is where you get to put things together. Of course, the challenge can be to find things that will work together (or even will "get along with each other").

The opposite of Integration comes across to me to be Separation. And, to answer to what is in parentheses above, if two people prove they can't get along together, they can be separated.

Which feels better to you, integration or separation?

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 3, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.

This word can be a verb or a noun. Verb: "I resolve to help oil soaked birds in the Gulf area". Noun: "I plan to not lose my resolve, when it comes to the poor birds in the Gulf area".

Remember that it doesn't need to be New Years to make resolutions.

Friday, July 2, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, July 2, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.

One of the most recent movie DVD's that I just watched is "The Wizard of Oz", complete with a Lion who spent much of the movie looking for Courage (or "Nerve", as he spoke of it occasionally).

One thing to remember is that you can experience the emotion of Fear, but still be Courageous. It's how you process that fear that matters.

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 1, 2010

Two Words for Today: Strength and Empowerment.

These definitely help out with this week's theme of Survival. In fact, you not only survive, but can help others survive.

And what is this world, if not people helping people?
