Word for the Day: Friday, March 31, 2017

The Word for today (Friday) is Interpretation. So how *do* you interpret a Partnership? It helps if the members speak the same language. Then you see how the members of the partnership get along with each other. The good news? There are careers out there for Interpreters. Good luck!

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 30, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. Should Partnerships be Social? The first response is, "Of Course". But, thinking further, the "second answer" is, "It depends on the Partnership". First up, for a "No Answer", would be any "Criminal Partnerships", of course. But also, any Partnerships, that regularly deal with "Classified Data" probably should limit their social activities. But, in general, "being social" is recommended (which "should" include "some" in-person activities).

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 29, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. So what do Partnerships Concentrate on? Depends on what kind of Partnership, of course. A company, run as a Partnership concentrates on, what they are in business for. A marriage (partnership of two people) concentrates on each other, as well as "family issues" (which often includes children). But, in all cases, there is one, commonly heard "statement about Concentration": "You Get what you Concentrate on".

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 28, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. So *what* would constitute an "acceptable Partnership"? (For that matter, what would constitute an Unacceptable Partnership?) For example, was the Partnership of Bonnie and Clyde "Acceptable"? (I guess it depends on who you ask: "Fellow criminals" might find it acceptable!) One thing to remember (after we get past all these "themes"): Who is the *most* important person for you to be acceptable to? Yourself!

Monday, March 27, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, March 27, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. And what better kind of Partnership, than a Generous one? Besides generosity to your partner, there's also the scenario, where the partnership *itself* might perform group activities, that are generous to the area, around where it is located. Keep that in mind, even if the Partnership is a Family.

Sunday, March 26, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 26, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. And yes, any kind of Partnership (includes Marriage) involves many varieties of Sharing. What first comes to mind is sharing, *within* the Partnership. But don't forget the *other* form of sharing, where the "results" of the Partnership are shared with the World.

Weekly Theme: Week of 3/26 to 4/01/2017

The Theme for this Week is Partnership.  First off, in the Gilbert / Sullivan Operetta, "HMS Pinafore", there's an Awesome joke about this Theme, which comes in the Fourth Stanza of the song, "When I was a Lad..."  Enjoy! (Click "Show More" for the printed lyrics).

The joke, in that song, was to compare a physical Ship (that travels on water), with "a business or firm owned and run by two or more partners" (found, via "Define Partnership" on Google).

Now obviously, the Google definition is closer to what we are looking at, in this Theme, though there are other kinds of Partnerships, including even a Marriage.

Words for the Day: Saturday, March 25, 2017

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. Now these go awesomely with our Themes because, before you can learn the details of a subject, it helps to get a good Overview of it. When I go over memories of the School Classes I took, through the years of my life, the ones I had the best time with, were the ones, that began the class with an "Executive Summary" of the subject material. You might "think" that would be standard, but you'd be surprised how many just start barraging you with details, without giving you a clue, of why they matter. In fact, that's why Geometry was the only High School Mathematics class I didn't get "A;s" in! Oh well...

Friday, March 24, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, March 24, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. This can be, like a "deep Review" (which was our Word, last Tuesday). And a good Mentor can use "careful Guidance" to help the student to "reflect effectively". The context I see, on this is to "Reflect on what you learned, last week". Now, to partly change the subject, another meaning for Reflection, is what you see in a Mirror, whether it's a "literal Mirror", or a "subjective Mirror", such as the people around you.

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 23, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Connecting this with our Themes is a "No Brainer": Practically "by definition", a Mentor helps their student (usually an individual, but sometimes a "small group"), by teaching them how to Study the course(s) they are working on. One caution: Since there are "limited hours in a day/week", be selective on the topics you study. Otherwise, you could spread yourself quite thin!

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 22, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. So how does this fit in with our Theme? One way to Mentor somebody, in your language, is to hold "Absorbing" conversations with him/her, in the language you are mentoring them in. (This is, of course a smaller part of a Classroom Setting, for Foreign Language Education, known as "Immersion Training", where the language being learned, is, most likely the only language spoken in the class). Note that this works in other fields, too. For instance, doing a "Ride Along" with a Police Officer, or spending a day with the employees in a factory.

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Review is, of course, a huge part of providing Guidance, or being a Mentor. Whatever steps a student took already (i.e. listening to a lecture, or "Experimenting", in a laboratory setting), Review (either formal or informal) helps the student to retain what they originally learned. Please note that Review is a good step, in day-to-day life, whether a "quick review" of a shopping list, or a review of your day before going to bed at night (*highly* recommended, by the way!)

Monday, March 20, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, March 20, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. So how does this connect with our Themes? If you are taking a class, with a Lab (i.e. Chemistry, perhaps Physics, and definitely Computer Science), you might have difficulty understanding the Class material. In cases like that, a Mentor can provide Guidance, to help you through the issues. (But remember, that it *still* is up to you, to pass the course!)

Sunday, March 19, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 19, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition., And I  most Certainly  Recognize those, who have Guided and Mentored me, through the years I've put in on Earth, as well as all those Realities I "visit", including in my Dream States.

Weekly Themes: Week of March 19-25, 2017

The Themes for this Week are Guidance and Mentor.  Both of these relate to the general theme of Teaching, yet both tend, more towards "individual assistance" (though you can "give guidance" to a group).  I just checked Google, for the meaning of Mentor.  The first is,  "an experienced and trusted adviser".  I find it interesting that this is presented as a "more elevated" position to, simply being a "teacher".  So, when presented with opportunities such as this, look forward to them!

Saturday, March 18, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 18, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. [Joke you've heard too many times]: "I Resolve to keep my Resolve". Now, with that out of the way, how about a Resolution (which can be made at *any* *time*, not just at "New Years"), to be the best player, in the family (or families) that you belong to? Communicate clearly and concisely. Respect other members of the family. Conscientiously take part in "group tasks" (i.e. "chores" -- in other words, holding your own, in the tasks of the family). Families, as well as countries can work quite a bit better.

Friday, March 17, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, March 17, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. So what *is* Domestic Courage? Google doesn't know. Would it include, for example, speaking up when a frightened child is battered by her parents in a Grocery Store? Or calling 911, when *you* are the one being battered? This is actually something that seems to occur in our news a lot, now. Be courageous!

Thursday, March 16, 2017

Words for the Day: Thursday, March 16, 2017

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you know your own Strength? Do you feel Empowered? Even in Domestic situations? Unfortunately, some people don't, which shows up in, not only books and movies, but in "Reality TV Shows". What is needed, of course, is for *all* parties of Domestic "Situations" to equally be strong and powerful. Open and equal communication helps, of course, as well as experiencing personal strength and empowerment in your own life.

Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 15, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. So how does this relate to Domestication? Well, it helps to be a "competent parent", if you have children. And I see, in the news (as well as "Reality Shows", such as Cops), what occurs, when parents are *not* competent! (I've even seen it in public, when I stood with a Grocery Store manager, as he called the police on a mother, who was battering her daughter, right in the store!)  It pays to be competent.

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 14, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. And yes, some "domestic environments" (including the one I grew up with) require a *great deal* of Endurance. Do you have it? Do you want it? Now, many people take up memberships in Health Clubs (or Gyms), for this purpose. But I wish to suggest another approach, at least in addition to this: Yoga.

Monday, March 13, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, March 13, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. And, of course, domestic "situations" are, what makes up most of the "Myths and Connotations" for today's Word. But remember that you can, also have a Fertile Imagination.

Sunday, March 12, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 12, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And there's a lot to be said, for Stable, Domestic situations (also known as "Home Life"). But remember that good households also need a bit of Adventure at times, else the relationship(s) are likely to "go stale". Word to the wise.

Weekly Theme: Week of March 12-18, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Domestication.  When I checked Google, I found a somewhat humorous definition:  "the process of making someone fond of and good at home life and the tasks that it involves".  Hmmm...  From the looks of my Apartment, I'm guessing that I'm "not very Domestic".  There's more about this topic, including how animals (i.e.  Cats and Dogs) can become domesticated.  Let's see how this week goes.

Saturday, March 11, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 11, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. So how is Release healthy? If you feel stuck in life, that often does *not* feel good. So, to "feel better", you "release yourself" from "being stuck". And often, that is enough for better health. So look for that "release lever", in your Reality. And don't be surprised if you find something!

Word for the Day: Friday, March 10, 2017

The Word for Yesterday (Friday) was Aspiration. With a Theme of Health, you can't ignore the "medical definitions" for this Word (which you might *not* want details. LOL!) But I still like, better, "I Aspire to live as healthily as possible". So be healthy!

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 9, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. And how does Contrast connect with Health? (Besides some "Contrast Solutions", you might find in a Medical Test?) My take, is that we find a healthy balance in this arena, because too little Contrast can seem boring, yet too much can get, downright scary!

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 8, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. And I believe a flexible (adaptable) body is likely to be a healthy body. For example, I know one limitation (I can't touch my toes, without bending my knees), comes because I stopped doing flexibility exercises, when I was a child. I am considering Yoga. Good luck, folks!

Tuesday, March 7, 2017

Words for the Day: Tuesday, March 7, 2017

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. This works in both directions, as a healthy body loves being, both agile and graceful. Likewise, developing and maintaining agility and grace assists, in the good health of the body.

Monday, March 6, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, March 6, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. I have one suggestion already, that Accelerated Health leads to Growth. I mostly agree, except that "illness" can sometimes lead to "Growth-inspired Learning" also. There *is* another relationship, between our Theme and Word: "Healthy Acceleration". In my opinion, that combination depends on what is being accelerated: If a metallic container, with wheels and an engine, that transports humans, be careful about the *degree* of Acceleration, since there are conventions, known as "Speed Limits". Word to the wise!

Sunday, March 5, 2017

Words for the Day: Sunday, March 5, 2017

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. And it can take both, to remain Healthy, in an "uncertain World". (Or even a "Certain World". LOL!)

Weekly Theme: Week of March 5-11, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Health.  So what *is* Health?  Some think it's the "opposite" of sickness (including Google, who says, among other things, "the state of being free from illness or injury").  But I disagree, since you can have "good health" or "bad health".  Also note that "health" can refer to things.  For example, people may refer to, "the health of our Computer Network".  Anyway, be healthy!

Saturday, March 4, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 4, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. Is Acknowledgement a Service? Let's turn it around, where we Acknowledge Services, performed on our behalf. So, it can be "a Service, to Acknowledge Services"? Awesome! One more thing. Remember that it takes Knowledge to Acknowledge!

Friday, March 3, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, March 3, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. Random Kindness is, of course, a Service in itself. But also keep in mind those who provide Services (of practically any kind: This seems to work, no matter the type of Services provided). Depending on Circumstances, they may give quite a bit of themselves. Recognizing this, and showing *special* kindness to those Caregivers can get quite awesome!

Thursday, March 2, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 2, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. And, yes, I suggest Encouragement of Honest Service, in whichever form it is found. (And sometimes, it's the "little things", such as a random, yet honest smile, that makes the difference: We can be of Service, when we don't even know it!)

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 1, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. So how is Thoughtfulness a Service? For one, thinking before speaking and/or taking action fosters better behavior in general. Second, Thoughtfulness is a relative of Mindfulness. So, in addition to being "full of Thought", we are also "full of Mind". So be thoughtful!
