Word for the Day: Monday, August 31, 2015

he Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. Now I, myself, would never suggest to eliminate Strategy (our Theme). But, on the other hand, there are many things to eliminate, to form a good strategy. Good luck.

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 30, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance, which absolutely seems a good strategy for life. It's definitely not the only one (which, in my opinion needs to include feedback from people around you), but it's a pretty good start. In my own case, it shows up, in that I make myself as "self-contained", as is practical.

Weekly Theme: Week of 09/30 to 10/05/2015

The Theme for this Week is Strategy.  Strong chess players know that winning a chess game requires both strategy and tactics (where good strategy includes proper tactics).  My interest in the topic comes from a background of playing Chess, but this article, comparing strategy and tactics, is about running a corporation. And, in the context of the source for Michael Transits, is about running your life!

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 29, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. How useful is expansion? In my opinion, it depends on what's being expanded. For example, if it's your intellect, very useful. If it's your spiritual development, extremely useful. If it's the middle of your body, because of lots of delicious food, much less so.

Words for the Day: Friday, August 28, 2015

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Both of these are useful, when applied "correctly". For example, I find it useful to trust the Universe, my "upstairs" (whether Essence, Whole Self, Guardian Angel, or whatever your own term is for he/she), and the "higher power", that I can call All That Is, or, if you please, God. However, trusting other fallible human beings can be problematical because, in general, Trust needs to be earned and developed (but not demanded of you). Likewise, faith is useful, as long as it is not blind. What do you think? Thank you!

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 27, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. I find this (along with Kindness) to be among the most useful Words around. No matter how bad things seem, I never have trouble finding something to be thankful for. Have you noticed that, even though Thanksgiving takes place different days of the year, it's always on a Thursday? Thank you!

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 26, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. In my opinion, there's "Useful Equality", and "Scary Equality". The useful version is, simply "Equal Opportunity" and include details, that some oppose, such as "Affirmative Action", which attempts to "shake the pot", so as to see all of what's in it, not just the "most visible".

Now to "Scary Equality": Forced conformity? Say, in a Parochial School which, for example, makes people wear the same "school uniforms". But also, some countries. As another example, I followed the collapse of Czechoslovakia, in 1989. Before the communistic government (which DEFINITELY preaches equality) failed, there was only one party, the communistic one, "of course". In other words, forced conformity.

The issue here, is to have opportunities for people, who do NOT fit into the "popular cubby holes".

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 25, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. Is it prudent to be useful? I think so. Is it useful to be prudent? As long as you don't go overboard, to the point of acting like a "prude". It helps, by the way, to understand what Prudent actually means, which includes the concept of being practical.

Monday, August 24, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, August 24, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Is it useful to be innocent? Ask anyone, who is fighting a criminal case, in a court of law. Is it innocent to be useful? Oh well, some questions are easier to answer than others.

One meaning of Innocence I like, is used in the phrase, "The innocence of little children".

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 23, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. Hopefully, none of you will feel the need to ask forgiveness, for "being useful". I've apologized for "being in the way" before, when I thought I was being useful. Oh well. Life is a series of experiences, that we (hopefully) learn from.

Weekly Theme: Week of August 23-29, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Usefulness.  What does it mean to be useful?  That was an important question for me, personally, because I was accused of "being in the way", many times, as a child.  One common answer to the above question is a term called "qualifications".  So how does one get qualified?  Usually, with "formal jobs", a combination of education and "experience".  But let's take a look at that word, "experience".  They are, of course, most interested in "work experience", which includes companies worked at, supervisors and managers, perhaps access to performance reviews, and so forth.  What they are, almost categorically not interested in, is life experience!  (In fact, in one case, the most direct experience I had, for a computer position was from volunteer work that I did, between two, paying positions.  (It was accepted, finally, after two days of deliberation).  So are you useful?  Thank you!

Saturday, August 22, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 22, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. An authentic economy? Do you THINK that the Economy of the United States is authentic, or based on lies, from individuals (including members of the Government), and Corporations? Come to think of it, how many countries, in our world have, what could be considered authentic economies? Once more, I'm bringing up more questions, than I attempt to answer.

Word for the Day: Friday, August 21, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Today, this works well with the Themes, because it's important how we interpret economy and/or practicality in any events, relationships, career issues, financial issues, and so forth. Just do what you can, to keep track of what actually is occurring, with these issues (a term I like better than problems). Whatever you do, don't forget last Saturday's Overview and Perspective, because that's a big part of any interpretation of an issue.

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 20, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. Practical socialization? Economical socialization? Well, if you can't afford travel, forcing it wouldn't be economical, would it? Probably not practical, either...

So where DOES socialization fit in? A lot of people are comfortable with "digital socialization" (i.e. Twitter and Facebook). I like to see people in person (but am aware of issues, in the first paragraph). I also like phone calls, because you can tell how something is being said, rather than only seeing the words themselves. All I can say, is have fun.

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 19, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. I've heard, many times, "You get what you concentrate on". So what do YOU concentrate on? If it's economy, for example, it's got to really be honest concentration, such as, with little effort, finding the best sales, shopping mainly at places that don't "gouge" the customer, and tending toward repairing appliances, rather than frequently replacing them. (Note: The reason I'm stressing "honest concentration", is that someone might say they're concentrating on "economy", but it's actually more about lack, and often includes complaints about corporations, that charge "high prices").

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 18, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Is it acceptable to be economical and/or practical? OK, silly question. Is there such a thing as practical acceptability? How about economical acceptability? Yes, folks, some of these combinations bring up more questions than they answer.

Monday, August 17, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, Augut 17, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. Economical and/or practical generosity? Definitely! For example, don't be "generous" with something you can't legally give (like, for example, money, belonging to your employer). But generously giving of yourself? I'm absolutely for it!

Sunday, August 16, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 16, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Economical sharing? Of course, if you don't burn yourself out, by sharing too much. Sharing practicality? Advice, on how to be practical can, of course, be welcome.

Weekly Themes, Week of August 16-22, 2015

The Themes for this Week are Economy and Practicality.  One way these go together, is the Verb definition, from telling Google to "define economy":  "careful management of available resources".  Doesn't that sound practical?  And, indeed, when asking Google about Practical, it (among other things) brings up "sensible and realistic", which can include being economical.  So how will these two Themes work, with the Words for this week?  We shall see.

Words for the Day: Saturday, August 15, 2015

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. Through my life, I've worked for a number of corporations, and one government agency. One thing I considered important, in each case, was being involved with the Big Picture View, of each of these Organizations. My feeling was that I thought I could do a much better job, if I knew where I fit in. Unfortunately, not all corporations agree with this, thinking that employees need to be focused on only that small part, that their job description actually entails.

Friday, August 14, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, August 14, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. [Joke]: "How do you organize Reflections?" "Strategic placement of mirrors". [OK. Not a very good joke].

Remember, people in organizations (or companies) reflect each other. When you find fault in others, look closely at yourself, or you might be accused of the same fault.

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 13, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study). Organized Study? Or Studies of Organizations? (Yes, some things, that could be called that name are interesting enough, to warrant their own books). But choose carefully, because a lifetime provides enough finite time, to study only a limited subset, of the total quantity.

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 12, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Absorbing an Organization? Well, I guess that's what occurs, when one corporation "purchases" another. My favorite use of the word, Absorption, is to be in a sort of "observation mode", absorbing (or "taking in") what's occurring around you. And, of course, this technique is used, to learn alternative languages.

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 11, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Organized Review? Review of Organization? (Like "reviewing" how to Organize my apartment? And don't think that's not an issue!)

Regarding the Word itself, there are many levels of Review, all the way from reviewing how a shopping trip went (i.e. did I "miss something"?) All the way to Life Review (again, a different level of "Did I miss something"?)

Monday, August 10, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, August 10, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. Experiments in Organization? Or how about Organized Experimentation? I sure experienced the latter, in my High School Chemistry class, where we were able to learn things in the lab, but it was easy to tell that the experiments we were allowed to perform were carefully created, and organized, so that things would not go wrong. (The Chemistry teacher signed my yearbook, with "Have fun, Ken, but don't break the glassware").

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 9, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. Recognize the organizations that help you through your life. Also, recognize the need to organize your belongings. See, this works with both major meanings of our Theme.

Weekly Theme: Week of August 9-15, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Organization.  There are multiple meanings to this word.  One use of this word, that I know well, is the act of organizing (or arranging) my belongings, so I can find what I need.  Another meaning:  A group of people, with related purpose, often known as a business or agency.  We'll see how this works out with the Words for this week.

Saturday, August 8, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 8, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. "I resolve to protect my Resolve". (There: That takes care of our Theme. LOL!)

I've brought this up before: Remember, folks, that resolutions don't require a New Year to present and (at least hopefully), complete.

Friday, August 7, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, August 7, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Is this the Courage to Protect? Or the need to "Protect my Courage"? Personally, I like the first choice MUCH better, because courage is courage.

One general thing I've found about Courage: Often the most courageous act, is to say "NO!" to someone, who is asking you to do something (especially if it's dangerous). Remember that your health and safety has more bearing, than what someone else "thinks" about you.

Thursday, August 6, 2015

Words for the Day: Thursday, August 6, 2015

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. The Strength to Protect? Protecting your Power? Occasionally, it seems it takes more strength to protect what you have, than it does to get other "things". I believe there's a reason for that: Grabbing hold of what you "think you have", and trying to "hold it steady" often goes against the flow of the Universe, where things move around a lot. What if someone else was "supposed" to "spend time" with that "object" (or even person!) that you were holding on to?

Finally, do YOU know your own strength? Do YOU feel empowered? Thank you.

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 5, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. So, bringing in our Theme, do we discuss the act of protecting competence? Or being competent to protect? Competence, by itself is an important topic. For example, are you competent to be yourself?

I've brought up a lot of questions today, without providing answers. Sometimes, that feels like the right approach.

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 4, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. So how do we protect endurance? (Yoga comes to mind, among other methods). And how do you endure protection? Protection of what? (Or FROM what?) Just remember that life delivers many different challenges. Just finally remember that we're all in this together.

Monday, August 3, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, August 3, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. Bringing in our Theme (Protection), I believe, once again, that this works in both directions: "Maintaining fertility helps protect our species". "There are levels of protection, that help a couple to create a family. For example, good housing, a good career, good health on both sides of the relationship, and finally, a good foundation for the relationship itself, which includes friendship, communication, mutual trust, and good self-esteem on both sides of the relationship".

Since I'm not in one of these "relationships", I likely missed something. Comments are, of course, welcome.

Sunday, August 2, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 2, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. So is stability helpful, in protecting you, or is protection a tool for stability? I suspect it can work, in either direction.

Weekly Theme: Week of August 2-8, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Protection.  One issue, for words like this, is that, say when using Google to "define protection", it likes to use variants of the word itself, in its definition.  For example, "Protection is the state of being protected".  :-)

A good question to bring up is, "Protected from what?  Or who?"  Like one example, which could be important, when used with Monday's Word:  "One tool people use, to protect themselves from fertility is Contraception".

In general, I find my best "protection" is a good relationship with my body (via a strong Immune System), the Earth (by working with the Balance of Nature), and my Whole Self.

Saturday, August 1, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 1, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. If ever you feel stuck in your life, whether or not it includes being a husband (or wife), look for the Release Lever. Now where would you expect to find something like that? Perhaps close to the Contrast Knob, from last Thursday! :-)

But seriously, every problem should come with a way to solve it, if only you look for it.
