Word for the Day: Monday, December 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  And having a comfortable place to hang out in is definitely something to celebrate.

Happy New Year!

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, December 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  And guess what?  Good nourishing meals are definitely something to celebrate!

Weekly Theme: Week of 12/30/2012 - 1/5/2013

The Theme for this Week is Celebration.  And what do we have to celebrate?  I hope you include yourself in your answer.

Saturday, December 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, December 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Some consider the Bible to be a special example of Revelation (which is the theme for this week).  And, of course, there are others who contest this.  But a bible verse (Mark 8:36) does a great job of tying the recent United States election to today's Word:  "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

Friday, December 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, December 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  When looking at revelations [theme], whether in the Bible, or in other writings, take a look at whether they tend to free (or liberate) other people, or if they are more likely to enslave them.  Remember the words in the Bible, "The Truth will set you free".

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, December 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  Well, I guess the best Revelations are the wisest ones, right?  :-)

One reminder:  Gaining wisdom is best, if it includes real-life experience.  Book reading, though helpful, often doesn't take into account that we all experience life in our own way.

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  One might contest the relationship between today's Word and Revelation (our Theme).  However, if not impartial, that means that the person giving the revelation is putting his/her own opinions in with the "surprising, secret data".  Doesn't make it seem quite as useful, does it?

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  It's good to do revelations, if that is one of your gifts, but be careful of the details of the "surprising facts" that you reveal, because not everyone is ready to hear the secrets of the Universe.  In fact, that can be so true, that it could be said that there are consequences to revelation.

Monday, December 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, December 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  And, just like with some other Themes from the past*, my take is that it is best to eliminate what stands in the way of Revelation.

(*Explanation:  These Words repeat themselves every 49 days.  The Themes repeat themselves every 49 weeks).

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, December 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  In my opinion, this ties in with our Theme in that, if we are self-reliant enough to handle our worldly needs, it can be easier for us to accurately receive "new and surprising information", via revelation.

Weekly Theme: Week of December 23-29, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Revelation.  This is a word with an uncomplicated meaning, but with religious connotations.  In its simplest form (according to "define revelation" in Google), it's either "a surprising and previously unknown fact", or "the making known of a secret or the unknown".  Besides giving its own definition, Google also links to alternative definitions, which can include the connotations.  For example, both dictionary.reference.com and merriam-webster.com suggest it's God who's doing the disclosing or revealing.

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, December 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  A philosophy of expansion can either work or not work, depending on type of expansion.  For example, if used with spiritual expansion, you're probably ok.  But if used with bodily expansion, caution is suggested, to avoid obesity.

Friday, December 21, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, December 21, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  And a philosophy of trust and faith includes selectivity.  For example, trust God and have faith in the Universe.  With all others, ensure that faith is not blind, and realize that trust must be earned, and can be violated.  Simple enough?

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, December 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  And I give my ultimate gratitude to the fantastic woman, on the phone at the Seattle Crisis Clinic, when I had an issue last Monday with water, as in I was dehydrated.  I don't usually tell stories on the Daily Word, but this one's great, as I, myself needed some help, and a cheerful female voice, on the other end helped me through a situation where my left foot was on the edge of one Universe, and my right foot was on the edge of another.  Now this is where people go who are drunk, by the way (as I have observed other times I've been between realities).  But other things can also cause it, including exhaustion, drugs (either prescribed or street), or even dreams (especially nightmares).

To make a long story short, the woman on the other end waited, while I went into the kitchen to drink my three waters (Fiji, symbolizing truth, Crystal Geyser, symbolizing love, and Iceland Spring, symbolizing beauty or energy).  I was back in balance in seconds, and profusely thanked this wonderful woman, and we hung up.  Folks, don't be afraid to ask for help!

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  As I see it, there are two philosophies of equality, one based on fear, and the other much more evolved.  The fear-based philosophy attempts forced conformity, because of a fear of those who think, speak and/or act differently than the ones in power.  (Note that this is relative, as it makes sense to "conform" to, at least, the laws that help with public safety).  The philosophy that I like is one of equal opportunity, especially to the extent that uniqueness is, at least tolerated, or (even better) embraced.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  An online dictionary defines this as "discretion in practical affairs".  In my opinion, prudence makes a good philosophy of life, since a good way of doing this is to think before speaking and/or acting.

Monday, December 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, December 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  And yes, a philosophy of innocence makes for a more pleasant life than a philosophy of being guilty, whether it's an emotional issue of feeling guilty all the time, or a more literal issue of behaving in such a way, as to actually be declared guilty in a court of law.

Sunday, December 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, December 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  And, tying this to our Theme, I like "I have a philosophy of forgiveness", better than, "Please forgive my philosophy".  (If the latter is true for you, you might want to look for a new philosophy of life).

Weekly Theme: Week of December 16-22, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Philosophy.  Everyone has a philosophy of life.  Some are not aware of this, because they don't think in these terms.  Learn yours and life can get easier.

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, December 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  The connection of this to our themes (education and teaching) includes controversy, as there are some disagreements on some topics to teach children, such as between Evolution and Intelligent Design.  An exercise would be to study both Wikipedia pages, to see which sounds more authentic to you.

Friday, December 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, December 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  And as I write this, there is yet another tragedy to interpret, a school shooting in Newtown, CT, USA.  Events like this are often the hardest to interpret, because they make no sense.

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, December 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Continuing with our Themes, schools are social environments.  (In fact, as a kid, I remember the teachers worrying about me, when I stayed away from other students at recess, instead talking to the adult yard monitors).

In general, the best kind of socialization is in person.  (In my opinion, second is phone, because it's still a two-way encounter.  And only then, email or, say, Facebook).

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  This is, of course, an excellent trait in an educational environment, as it's a route to good grades.  Also, I consider this a relative to the word, "focus", which is a great way to achieve what you desire in life.

Note:  This is an unusual day on the "regular" calendar:  12/12/12!

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  In educational situations, as in all situations, acceptability can be a major issue, as different people look for different traits in people around them.  But keeping with our educational theme, some think it's better to be good in sports, whereas others think it's better to be good in, say, science.  Take your pick.  But definitely take your own pick, rather than one that might have been chosen for you by other people.  This is important, because it is you who must live your life.

Monday, December 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, December 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  I remember a few generous teachers, through my school years.  For example, offering to let me visit between classes, so I can understand a topic I was confused about.  (Not all teachers do that).  Since I hated homework, I would reward teachers I liked better (often because they were generous), by doing the homework for their class.

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, December 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  To begin with, a rather complex form of sharing with another human being is teaching him/her.  And I certainly remember, when I was in school that, as students, we had plenty of chance to share with the other students, as well as the teacher.  (One form of it was titled, "Show and tell", where we brought something from home, giving us chances to learn more about the home life of our fellow students).

Weekly Themes: Week of December 9-15, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Education and Teaching.  The dictionary certainly ties these words together:  "Education is the theory and practice of teaching".  By the way, one thing I remember from my "Personal Growth Movement" days (1976-1983):  A lot of groups had "trainings".  But head of the group I was in liked to say, "You teach people.  You train animals".

Saturday, December 8, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, December 8, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  Another meaning for these words are "executive summary", which is quite important to Retention (our Theme), as it's important to know the overview of the topic at hand, as well as have a perspective on where it fits in with other topics, as well as the world at hand.

Friday, December 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, December 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  There are multiple aspects to this Word.  1 and 2, respectively, deal with either a conventional mirror, where you can examine yourself in detail, or the "mirror of life", where anyone can "mirror you".  The third aspect fits our Retention theme, where you give careful consideration to the topic you are attempting to retain.  Come to think of it, aspect three might be related to aspect one, since you are examining a topic in detail.

Thursday, December 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, December 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  After yesterday's "absorbing what you learn, as if by a sponge", it's time to hit the books, folks!  :-)

We're talking about gaining wisdom from the experiences of other people, who are "lucky enough to be published".  And Google is your friend!  For example, I was wondering about losing parts of myself through the day, due to unfinished conversations and projects, and remembered a topic from Seth (by author Jane Roberts), "strands of consciousness".  And what do I find in Google?  DNA studies!  Wow!  A whole new field of study for me.  (And the joke was on me:  The above Seth quote even mentions DNA!)

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, December 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  I find the way this relates to Retention (our theme) to be somewhat amusing, as a sponge absorbs water, thus retaining it!  :-)

One note:  Today marks a "Triple Scholar" transit.

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, December 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  Note that review is a highly scalable concept.  If you get an immediate "bad feeling" when you do something, stopping, sitting down (if possible) and reviewing, in your mind, everything around the action can help determine the pluses and minuses of that action.  That's the "low end" of scalable.  The "high end" is what is called, in the Reincarnation literature, "life review", where you look at much of what happened in your entire life, to determine what worked, and where you might improve in your "next life".

Monday, December 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, December 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  The way this connects with our theme (Retention) occurs best, when combined with tomorrow's and Thursday's Words:  "After today's experiment comes tomorrow's review and Thursday's study, allowing retention of the reason for doing the experiment in the first place".

Sunday, December 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, December 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  This ties in to our Theme in two ways:  1. Recognize the need to retain what you learn, in order to be a good student.  2. Retain the names of the people you know, in order to make it easier to recognize them.

Weekly Theme: Week of December 2-8, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Retention.  The two definitions are actually related:  Either continued possession (i.e. of material possessions) or continued memory (of topics you have learned).  The second definition is often used in scholarly settings, for example, "A good grade on the final exam depends on effective retention of the class materials we have been providing you".

That said, what do you need to retain, to be a good student of life?

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, December 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  "I resolve to keep my resolve".  Yes, this sounds like a joke.  (And probably is).  But often, that's all that is needed, like when you need to do something that's necessary in your life, but might be unpopular with, say, members of your family.

Friday, November 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, November 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  Keeping with our theme, this could mean both the courage to preserve, and the preservation of courage.  (I wonder what the Cowardly Lion on Wizard of Oz would think of this?)

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, November 29, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  A couple days ago, I mentioned archeology, from the perspective of endurance.  Please note that it also can require a lot of strength to lift some of the artifacts.

Incidentally, strength, empowerment and (from Tuesday), endurance can all be developed, with the help of yoga.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  In my opinion, preservation requires lots of competence.  For example, I used to be a coin collector.  There are lots of actions required to keep a rare coin clean, safe and shiny.  (Also, some things not to do, such as getting fingerprints on the coin or (especially), cleaning the coin!)

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  An interest of mine, Archeology, fits today (and this week) extremely well because, to preserve an ancient artifact, a lot of endurance may be needed, to make sure that the item isn't damaged, by the techniques needed to, for example, remove it from the ground.

Monday, November 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, November 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  There is a literal connection with our Theme, because the way fertility is generally understood is a way to preserve a species.  But remember that there are multiple meanings for fertility, like having a fertile imagination.

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  And yes, it is easier to preserve something (like in a museum), in a stable environment.

Weekly Theme: Week of 11/25 - 12/01/2012

The Theme for this Week is Preservation.  If you want to see preservation in action, go visit a museum, or a well-run antique store.  I used to be a coin collector, and I can say it is not as easy as it might seem.

Saturday, November 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  Tying this to our Theme might mean one of two things.  1.  Being released from analyzing something that turns out not to be useful to your life.  2.  Releasing yourself from obstacles to beneficial analysis.

Take your pick.

Friday, November 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, November 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  How do I couple this with our theme?  "Analyze how you can be your personal best, and then aspire to it".

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  A lot of analysis (our theme) includes contrast, with some days being somewhat boring, but others (depending on the subject matter) possibly rather scary.  The best approach, of course, is balance.

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  Another word for this is flexibility, which definitely helps in analysis, because a flexible person is less likely to dismiss parts of the topic being analyzed.

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Words for the Day: Tuesday, November 20, 2012

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace, both of which go well with yesterday's Acceleration.  But when I was watching the 2012 Olympics, the most agile and graceful of the contestants were often moving quite slowly.  Go figure!  :-)

Monday, November 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, November 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  Accelerated analysis?  At least it sounds good.  (Wow!  I just looked at Google and there's even a company with that name!) I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Sunday, November 18, 2012

Words for the Day: Sunday, November 18, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  Both of these are practically prerequisites for our theme, Analysis.  Because if you are impatient, you are much less likely to understand the topic at hand.  Also, if you are analyzing a topic, and can't tolerate a part of it, you are unlikely to continue the analysis.

Weekly Theme: Week of November 18-24, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Analysis.  What does it mean to analyze something?  According to the dictionary, it's taking something big, and breaking it down into its constituent parts.  And yes, that usually makes something easier to understand.  Take politics, for example.  That's a rather complex subject.  However, one part (how a bill becomes a law), via an amusing cartoon, describes how Congress is supposed to work.

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  Just like (on Thursday), it took courage to encourage, today it takes knowledge to acknowledge.  For example, if you have taken advantage of the ability to borrow free books say, from an Archive of them (aka, a Public Library), take the time to speak up like, for example, during fund raising week.

Friday, November 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, November 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  This goes well with the Words for last Tuesday and Thursday (yesterday):  It is kind to support and encourage your local Archives.

In general, a little kindness goes a long way towards a better world.

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  Encourage your local public library system (or Archives).  Often, it's the only way for the general public to view historical documents about the city or town you live in.  But, unfortunately, it can be one of the first institutions to suffer from budget cuts.

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  Coupling this with Archives (i.e. Public Libraries  --  also our Theme) can be as simple as being quiet, while in a library.  Think about it:  Libraries provide us a service, with a selection of good books to borrow.

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  This is also easy, if we want to "marry" the Word to the Theme:  Support your local Archives (or Public Libraries), as they need all the support they can get.

Monday, November 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, November 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  And boy, does this fit in with Archives (our Theme), as public libraries are often quite comfortable places to hang out.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  And, in my opinion, Archives are Nourishment for the Mind, especially if you have any scholar inclinations.

Based on the time (8:20 am, Pacific time), it's time for breakfast, a more literal form of nourishment.

Weekly Theme: Week of November 11-17, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Archives.  The "official" definition is a collection of historical documents.  This could be like the microfilm archives of old newspaper stories, which I used to go to often at my local public library (mainly in San Francisco, California, where I studied the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake).  The importance of this, in my opinion, is that, if we don't learn from history, we might just repeat it.

Saturday, November 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  This actually goes well with our theme, as it usually takes strategy to become and remain prosperous.  This includes landing a good career, performing well on the job, staying out of debt, and competently investing the money.

Friday, November 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, November 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  Liberate?  From what?  For some (especially, if they ignored laws), it could be conventional prisons or jails.  But we all, at least at times, create self-made jails for ourselves.  And if we can do that, we can also free ourselves from them.

Thursday, November 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  The Strategy (weekly Theme) for gaining Wisdom is a tricky one.  You might think that reading the "wisest" books would do it but, it turns out, actual life experience appears to be more important.

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  This makes for an excellent life strategy, but a difficult one, as we all have our opinions.

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  My most direct use of strategy (the theme) has been as a chess player.  Obviously, the most important strategy, that leads directly to a win, is to topple the enemy king piece.  But, since that is easier if you have more pieces (actually points, as a queen has many more points than, say, a pawn), a common strategy is to try to take as many of the enemy pieces as possible.  There is a consequence to that, because a competing strategy is to sacrifice pieces for better position (meaning better command of the chess board).  So a well rounded knowledge of chess strategy makes a better chess player.

Monday, November 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, November 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  Going to our Theme, I believe that this does not mean to eliminate Strategy.  Instead, I believe that it means to eliminate what gets in the way of the strategy of living your life.

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  It is definitely a good strategy to develop a certain amount of self-reliance because, if you aren't ready to step forward in your life, who do you expect to do it?

Weekly Theme: Week of November 4-10, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Strategy.  Meaning actions towards a "specific goal", it is important enough to even have its own Wikipedia page.  Often used in wartime, or chess games, it is also useful in planning your life.  For example, if asked to relocate in a job, is the relocation worth putting your family through trauma?

Saturday, November 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  It is quite useful to expand, spiritually.  It is much less useful, however, to expand around the middle of the body.  So be careful about all those "delicious things" out there.

Friday, November 2, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, November 2, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  I remember a sign, as a child, on a hardware store:  "In God we Trust.  All others pay cash".  That helped me to learn, early in life, that trust must be earned.  Another thing I learned, this time in early adulthood:  Faith should not be blind.  For example, faith in a government that includes people who lie and cheat.  Make your choices informed ones.

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Be truly useful and people are likely to have gratitude for you.  Also, it is useful to have gratitude for all of the people who help you.

If you check back on this BLOG, Gratitude always comes on a Thursday.  (These Words repeat every seven weeks, but with different weekly themes.  And even the Themes repeat every 49 weeks).  But my point is that Thanksgiving (at least in the United States) also only occurs on a Thursday.

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Word for the Day: October 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  It is useful to offer equal opportunity to all.  That way, some don't need to complain to the others, about how unfair life is.  Are we there?  Of course not!

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  Unlike yesterday's word (innocence), this one fits better with our theme (usefulness), because being useful is practical.

Monday, October 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, October 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  It is "useful" [this week's theme] to pay attention to the laws of the land, so as to remain innocent.

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, October 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  There is a special category of apology and forgiveness (or lack, thereof), when a person lacks usefulness say, in a paying job.  There is even a formal event, having to do with this, called the "Performance Review".

Weekly Theme: Week of 10/28 - 11/03/2012

The Theme for this Week is Usefulness.  It is common to want to feel useful.  As a child, I wanted this, but was frequently considered to be in the way.  In business, there is a concept called qualifications.  But sometimes, the ones concentrated on (i.e. college degree for, say, social worker) are less important than a general one (ability, and desire to listen).

Be useful to yourself.

Saturday, October 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, October 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  The more I look at it, the more I am convinced that living life authentically is a practical, economic way to live.  Why?  Because lack of economy (i.e. hoarding and/or wasting) can be extremely impractical, opening a person to a pattern of thinking that can lead to living a lie.

Friday, October 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, October 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  This is an excellent career move, if you know more than one language.  And if you can think in more than one language, there is a mental flexibility that, in my opinion, makes it easier to interpret what occurs in your life.

Word for the Day: Thursday, October 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Let's look at our themes:  Economy and Practicality.  Economic socialization would be having fewer friends, but being closer with the ones you have.  Practicality speaks for itself.  ;-)

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentrate.  Concentrate on practical matters, and your life can be practical.  Simple as that.

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  And practical, economical [theme] policies can make it easier to be acceptable to yourself and others.

Monday, October 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, October 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  And yes, it's possible to be economical and generous at the same time.  Think about it.

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, October 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  In general, I consider it good to share with others.  However, I suggest being economical in your sharing.  For example, we are close to a political election in the USA.  And, every day, I get emails from all over, wanting more and more contributions.  If I added every one of those up, it would mean not paying rent, as well as not eating.  So be practical, folks!

Weekly Themes: Week of October 21-27, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Economy and Practicality.  And, yes, being economical is practical.  And handling your finances in a practical manner typically includes not wasting your money.

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, October 20, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  This entire week is about ways of learning.  In this case, this is both how managers learn, and how everyone tends to learn about topics that are not on their "Major" or "Minor" list (from school).  But for all topics, it is important to always hold the "Big Picture" view, and to keep a perspective on it.

Friday, October 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, October 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  There are two meanings to this word.  1. Careful consideration, which is a deeper form of study.  2.  Seeing yourself, such as in a mirror, or in a person around you.  Both of these are forms of learning.

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, October 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  Some organizations require more study from their members than others.  Of course, the most extreme are the organizations that are called "schools".  But in my "day job" (computer professional), we were asked to keep current, and there was a certain amount of training included in the job.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  It's connection with Organization (our Theme) is a cautionary tale.  Because some organizations (such as big corporations) like to "absorb" their employees, so that they are no longer independent human beings.  Don't let them do that to you!

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  After yesterday's experiment comes today's review.  At least, that's how it worked when I was in a High School Chemistry class.  But it sure helps me to figure out how I did.  (Joke review:  "Did the building catch fire?  No?  Good.  Review completed").

Monday, October 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, October 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  One of my favorite high school classes was Chemistry.  And I just figured out that it blended our Theme with a number of the Words for this week:  Organized experiments (important, to avoid injury or worse).  Followed by Review and Study (Tuesday's and Thursday's Words, respectively).  That teacher was good!

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, October 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  This goes well with the Theme, as I most certainly recognize organizations that have helped me throughout my life.

Incidentally, I see a higher meaning to "recognize", than simply recalling someone's name that you see on a sidewalk.  This is "public recognition", which can help the reputation of a person (or organization).

Weekly Theme: Week of October 14-20, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Organization.  I see two meanings here that are related:  Organization verses chaos.  And a group of people working together, whether it's a non-profit organization or a for-profit corporation.  And you can even have "organized chaos", such as a street gang.

A well-run organization can act a lot like a person, but I most certainly do not believe that a corporation is a person.

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, October 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  As stated before, this is both a noun and a verb (i.e. "I resolve to keep my resolve").  But the funniest thing is that the verb can become a noun of its own:  "I resolve to keep my New Years Resolutions".  Let's bring the other version of the Word into the picture, by putting some determination (resolve) into those New Years Resolutions.

Good luck, everybody!

Friday, October 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, October 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  Is it courage to accept a dare?  It depends:  If the "dare" is to do a wheelie, on a freeway during rush hour traffic, I think not.  (Look up "foolhardiness", to see the difference).

Thursday, October 11, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, October 11, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  Obviously, both of these are helpful in the act of protection.  And yes, we all are stronger and more empowered than we think.

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  Are you competent to be yourself?  The answer may surprise you.  (For example, it is usually easier to "be yourself", than to be someone else, which includes trying to be what your family and friends want you to be).

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, October 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  On days that share this Word, time can seem to flow slowly.  This makes time management important.  Because it helps to find interesting, as well as pleasant ways to pass the time.

Monday, October 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, October 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  Continuing with our Theme (Protection), long-term protection of a species requires Fertility.  In other words, each species has some sort of "message" to its members to, "be fruitful and multiply".

That said, remember that there are multiple meanings for fertility, including having a fertile imagination.

Sunday, October 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, October 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  Guess what?  It's easier to protect someone or something, in a stable environment.  But be careful, because you might not want to live in an environment that is too stable.

Weekly Theme: Week of October 7-13, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Protection.  Be careful what you protect.  Family, friends, your home, and so forth are fine.  But protecting your limitations is just, plain silly.

Word for the Day: Saturday, October 6, 2012

The Word for Yesterday (Saturday) was Release.  For me, yesterday was practically "released" from even occurring.  How silly of me!  :-)

Friday, October 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, October 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  So let's see:  Aspire to run the best farm (theme: Husbandry)?  Aspire to be the best husband?  How about just aspiring to be the best person you can be?

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, October 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  Working a farm (theme = Husbandry) is a life of contrasts.  One day, everything is routine (even if hard work).  And another day is scary as the dickens (for example, a tornado).  But remember, contrast is present for everybody, and you wouldn't want it any other day, as "boring" is much worse.

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, October 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  When we consider our Theme (Husbandry), this word makes a lot of sense:  It takes a lot of flexibility to both run a farm, and be an effective husband in a marriage.

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Words for the Day: Tuesday, October 2, 2012

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  These were two traits I most looked for, in the recent Olympics.  I recommend Yoga, to help develop them.

Monday, October 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, October 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  Accelerated husbandry?  Just be careful that the farm in question still features quality.

In general, accelerated spiritual growth is good.  But be careful of too much acceleration in motor vehicles.

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Words for the Day: Sunday, September 30, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  First off, the "usual" meaning of Husbandry (our Theme), used in Farming, requires lots of both Patience and Tolerance.  But both of these Words are highly useful in life, also.

Weekly Theme: Week of 9/30 - 10/6/2012

The Theme for this Week is Husbandry.  There is a definition of this, used in farming. However, I always look for the bigger picture of these Words and Themes.  A second source includes, "Careful management or conservation of resources; economy".  I like the word, "conservation".

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  Since it takes knowledge to acknowledge, take the time to look back at who has helped you in your life.  I can easily see some of my teachers (especially my High School Chemistry teacher), my Mother and Father, a neighbor down the street, and some authors, such as Jane Roberts (of the Seth Material), and all of the channels that make up the Michael Teachings.

Friday, September 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, September 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  This is such a wonderful concept (that Kindness helps the World go around), that I believe only a percentage of people need to practice it, for it to take off.  This uses the Hundredth Monkey effect which, besides the link to Wikipedia, was a great book by Ken Kesey.

Homework assignment:  Practice a random act of Kindness each day.

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  With our theme, this also goes in two directions:  "Encourage cultivation", and "Cultivate encouragement".  But in the second case, "encouragement of what?"  Be selective of what you encourage, so as to like the results.

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  This is an excellent trait to cultivate.  And it's simple, especially if you break the word down:  "Full of Thought".  In other words, think before speaking and/or acting.

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  In the multidimensional model of humanity, we are all consciousness, operating a body, using aspects, based on function.  For example, I am Ken Parker, operating a "body" in Seattle, WA, and I have a great heart muscle (an aspect), helping me do it.

Sorry about yesterday.  The people, who are on the "base list" for this BLOG even found a typo, where I discussed yesterday's Word, tomorrow (September 26).  Go figure!

Remember that time is relative.  And, after December 21, 2012, you are on your own, regarding silly "sequential time" issues.  The World doesn't end, but it gets more multidimensional, if you catch the drift.

Word for the Day: Monday, September 24, 2012

The Word for Yesterday (Monday) was Comfort.  I guess I was too comfortable to get around to updating my BLOG posts.  Sorry about that, folks!

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  What a great thing to cultivate.  And make it delicious, too!  But remember that there are other meanings.  For example, you can nourish your mind with good, educational books.

Weekly Theme: Week of September 23-29, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Cultivation.  A highly used definition has to do with food (for example, cultivating food on farms).  This, of course, will go well with Sunday's Word (Nourishment).  But it's not the only meaning.  For example, any country can take steps to "cultivate peace with the countries around it".

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Whether this comes from personal choices is a topic of debate, as some people believe it's the environment around a person that determines whether he/she can get ahead enough to be prosperous.  However, a combination of personal choices definitely has a part in this, including where to live, which employment opportunities to apply for, and the way the person applies him/herself to the job itself.  A big part of this is how well we get along with the people around us.

Friday, September 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, September 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  In its most basic level, the "need" for liberation often occurs, due to unfortunate choices in life.  For example, a choice of a "life of crime" often leads to jail and/or prison (where the topic of liberation often comes up).

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  There are two ways to link this to Choice (our Theme):  Either "making wise choices", or "choosing a life path that leads to wisdom".  But note that the second leads to the first.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  This is related to neutrality, and allows you to see both sides of an upcoming choice.  Highly sought after, but hard to find, especially in the news industry.

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  This is the Law of Karma, where what you do has a response.  Of course, if what you do is harmonious, the "consequence" can be pretty music.

Monday, September 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, September 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  As to our theme (Choice), I firmly believe that it is not useful to eliminate choice, but to eliminate what stands in the way of constructive choice.

Sunday, September 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  This helps our Theme (Choice) greatly, as you are the one responsible for the choices you make.  But that responsibility includes responsibility towards other people.

Weekly Theme: Week of September 16-22, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Choice.  The Universe (actually Multiverse) is, by definition, Choice.  In fact, as you make choices, you make worlds.  Yes, I'm talking about parallel universes.  Why?  Because whatever is above you (higher self, guardian angels, essence, etc), wants to know what happens in the choice you didn't make.

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  We all expand and contract regularly, as we breath in and out.  The feeling of expanding outwards may be more pleasant, which could account for the popularity of dessert items with high sugar and fat content.

Friday, September 14, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, September 14, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  Both of these are good, in general, especially when you are in transition.  Remember, however, that trust must be earned, and faith should not be blind.

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Gratitude helps the world go around.  In fact, gratitude towards Mother Earth is highly recommended.

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  In my opinion, the best way towards equal opportunity is to embrace our uniqueness.  Because if one group is marginalized (not given the chance to express their uniqueness), that is when the group in question loses its chance for equal opportunity.

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  A person who is humble and prudent is just a practical person.  But a person, with a big ego, who explores prudence, can easily turn into a prude.  Think about it.

Monday, September 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, September 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  It's connection with this week's themes is a cautionary tale:  Be a law-abiding citizen, or else the next transition might be from innocent to guilty.

Sunday, September 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  Is it really better to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission?  REALLY?  Depending on the situation, this could bring in one of our Themes, where a person could transform into a criminal.  Please think before speaking and/or acting!

Weekly Themes: Week of September 9-15, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Transition and Transformation.  Life is full of transitions.  For example, a transition to 21 years old, and the ability to drink alcohol (a fairly "neutral" transition, at least in the USA), but which could lead to alcoholism (a less neutral transition that most would want to avoid).  Transformation is related, but not necessarily the same, an example being transforming from a child to an adult.

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  Some firms (i.e.  Franklin Mint, as well as some doll makers) ship their products with Certificates of Authenticity.  Shouldn't human beings have those too?

Friday, September 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, September 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  No matter how a project is started (self-started or dropped in your lap), interpretation is a good step towards completing it.

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Yes, we are social animals, and many projects (whether "precipitated" or initiated), support that.  In fact, many products on the marketplace would not have a market, if we were not as social as we are.  For example, the majority of games are competitions between multiple people.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  Another word for concentrate is focus, and I've found I can achieve what I focus on.  "Multitasking" can be good, but often very little is achieved.

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  And may all of your projects be acceptable ones.

Monday, September 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, September 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  This is a fantastic policy to initiate.  (And, if you do it right, it will "precipitate" to [drop into the lap of] other people, such that they can also be generous).

Sunday, September 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  The Themes (just mentioned) have to do with starting a project.  And what good is a project, if it isn't shared with others?  It could even help you, as some you share with might even help you with it.

Weekly Themes: Week of September 2-8, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Precipitation and Initiation.  In my opinion, these have to do with projects you may be involved with.  Initiation means self-starting, and precipitation means that the project is "dropped in your lap", just like water dropping out of the sky.  But, either way, it is a project that needs to be dealt with.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, September 1, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  The way this fits our theme, Discovery, is that, when you want to see where to go next, you look for related topics, and go for the executive summaries.  (A special academic example of this is what is known as Cliffs Notes).

Friday, August 31, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, August 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  You can discover (our weekly theme) things with two different meanings for Reflection.  For example, you can discover what is on the other side of the mirror (or what is on the other side of who is "mirroring" you).  And the deep, penetrating type of review (other meaning for reflection) is often a way of discovering things in your life.

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  This is, of course, a more interactive [a word that includes "active"] way of learning than yesterday's absorption.  But hopefully, you have control over the subject matter of your learning, such that you are studying what you want to learn!  (Not having that kind of control was one reason I did not like school as a child).

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  Why do we have to work so hard to learn?  Science Fiction mentions taking a pill to learn.  Foreign languages are often taught by "immersion", either short-term (only speaking the language being taught in the classroom), or longer-term (living in a country, using the taught language, for a period of time).  However, there should always be a balance between this and active learning (using tomorrow's Word, "study").

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Review is a great way to discover (theme) what has already happened in your life.  It is also quite scalable, meaning that it has a part in the "big picture" (for example, the life review that occurs after you die), but also in how one single day goes (for example, a special type of review that people do before they go to sleep at night).

Monday, August 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, August 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  This goes with our Theme at least two ways because, on one hand, when you discover something new, you often want to experiment with it.  On the other hand, when experimenting with almost anything, you can discover things you were not thinking of; even things completely new to you.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  This goes well with our theme, as Discovery can often be a two-step process.  Step 1 is discovering something that either sounds interesting, or seems important to your life.  Step 2 can be recognizing where you knew of this before, such that you can make use of it now.

Weekly Theme: Week of 8/26 - 9/1/2012

The Theme for this Week is Discovery.  To discover something is sort of like finding something.  But not completely as, in my opinion, you look for (hoping to find) something you know of, and wish to find (like, for example, a misplaced book).  However, what someone discovers may be something they may not have even known exists (like a book on a topic that is a pleasant surprise).

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  There are two definitions for this Word.  The first has to do with what we do on New Years, where we resolve to do something.  (And please note that this can occur at other times of the year also).  The other version is a noun, something you do not want to lose.  The dictionary calls this "firm determination".

I'm not sure which meaning the Michael Teachings had in mind, but both can be important.

Friday, August 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, August 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  I like this word because, for example, it takes courage to encourage.  But be careful to not mistake it for foolhardiness.

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, August 23, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  Do you know your own strength?  Do you feel empowered?  Don't underestimate yourself!

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  A good book, The Peter Principle, discusses how you can be competent in a job, until one too many promotions (and how people in their first, less competent position tend to stay there). Of course, there appears to be a problem:  This book was published in 1969.  Now, in more recent times, few companies promote from within, instead hiring from outside.

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  And some Locations require special endurance, just to survive.  (I'm thinking of locations that regularly have challenging weather, as one example).

Monday, August 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, August 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  How does our Theme fit in with this?  If you think of the way couples of opposite gender (animal or human) can be fertile, location is quite important, as procreation is a private act.

In my opinion, you can have a fertile imagination anywhere.  :-)

Sunday, August 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  This goes well with our Theme, as a good (and stable) location helps to make life easier to live.  The converse is also true:  Just ask a homeless person.

Weekly Theme: Week of August 19-25, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Location.  This works on many levels.  For example, I live in Seattle, King County, Washington State, United States of America, North America, Earth, our Solar System, the Milky Way Galaxy, and our Universe.  These are all locations, and different perspectives to view reality from.

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  Do you ever feel stuck?  Look around.  There might be a release lever somewhere in your environment.

Friday, August 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, August 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  An example, coupling this with our themes:  "I aspire to use my imagination to compose an awesome, and salable book".

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  In this week's Themes, people use Imagination to Compose stories.  These may be "pure fiction", or adaptations of true events.  Contrast is an important part of composing stories.  Why?  Because, in general, too little makes the story "boring" (or, at least, less interesting), yet too much decreases the believability of the story.  An example of the latter is a story, perhaps a movie, that is high on "special effects", but low on "plot development".  An example (in my opinion) of a movie, with lots of contrast, but also lots of story, including philosophy, is "The Matrix".

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  Another word for this is flexibility:  The flexible person adapts to his/her surroundings.  The inflexible person asks his/her surroundings to adapt to him/her.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Words for the Day: Tuesday, August 14, 2012

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  These words came up this time at a great time  --  the London Olympics.  The coverage was breathtaking.

Monday, August 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, August 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  I've said this before, but, in my opinion, accelerating spiritual growth (which includes imagination) is more constructive than pursuing excessive physical speed.  (Beware speed traps, when driving motor vehicles).

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Words for the Day: Sunday, August 12, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  Both of these are quite useful in developing imagination, as well as in composition of those ideas.

Weekly Themes: Week of August 12-18, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Composition and Imagination.  These are similar, but not the same, for imagination often leads to composition (for example, composing a story from your imagination), but composition can be done, using ideas from other people, which often occurs in school classes.

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  And I acknowledge those people, who have helped me develop and maintain a balanced life.

Friday, August 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, August 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  This is one of my favorite words, as it helps lead to a balanced life, both for you, and those you treat kindly.  What will help a great deal is a policy of performing random acts of kindness, perhaps each day.

Thursday, August 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  I wish to encourage all of you to live balanced lives.

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  This can definitely help with a balanced life, because it means taking time out to think, before speaking and/or acting.  This helps one to avoid "sudden moves", including what are called "knee-jerk reactions".

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  And support is a big part of a balanced life for many reasons.  Support groups, for example:  Having one or more support groups, as well as being part of support groups for others.

Monday, August 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, August 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  This works with our theme in both directions, as achieving comfort in your life helps make that life balanced.  But, from the other direction, a balanced life includes comfort, as discomfort, by definition, is a symptom of a lack of balance.

Sunday, August 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, August 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  Balanced diet?  Balanced life?  Need I say more?  But look closely at what you eat, and pay attention to any allergies you might have, as different people have different nourishment needs.

Weekly Theme: Week of August 5-11, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Balance.  Think of a circus act, with a tightrope walker.  Anything that jeopardizes balance is a matter of life and death!  Think of life the same way:  Even though the immediate danger is less, an unbalanced life can be dangerous and (in some circumstances) even painful.

Some tools to become balanced:  Yoga and Meditation.  Thank you!

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, August 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Remember that prosperity has to do with more than just money.  For example, the world can be more prosperous with natural resources, if people learn conservation.

Friday, August 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, August 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  What do you need liberation from?  Yourself?  Your own, self-made boxes?  Something external?  Today's a good day to look for it.

Thursday, August 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, August 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  This, of course, requires real life experience, in addition to watching movies or reading books about your favorite topics.  But the real-world experience always trumps the other ways of getting information.

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  This is highly looked for, but seldom found.  It is a neutral trait, such that, if you are unable to look at a topic neutrally, being impartial about it is near-impossible.

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  And I feel that this goes together with our theme, because a failure of conservation and environmental policies have far reaching consequences.

Monday, July 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, July 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  Keeping with our weekly theme, I firmly believe that the meaning of today's combination is not to eliminate conservation, but to eliminate what stands in the way of conservation and environmentalism.

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  Conservation is quite important, and something to definitely be self-reliant on.  One personal example:  Purchasing paper towels, and bathroom tissues made from recycled paper fibers.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 29 - August 4, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Conservation.  To conserve.  The problem is that conservation is considered an environmental topic.  But another variation on "conserve" is to be "conservative".  Think about that!

Saturday, July 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  I've said this before, but spiritual expansion is generally fantastic, but expansion around the middle, not so much.  :-)

Friday, July 27, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, July 27, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  I've said this before, but Trust must be earned, and Faith shouldn't be blind.  Trust the Universe and have Faith in a higher power.

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Everybody welcomes gratitude, as long as it's them who someone is being grateful to.  :-)

Please return the favor.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  The kind of equality I welcome is "equal opportunity".  The kind I'm not so happy about is "forced conformity".

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  All this appears to mean is practicality in everyday affairs.  But be careful to not go overboard, with the danger of becoming a prude.  :-)

Monday, July 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, July 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  I would assume many people would "welcome" innocence, especially if they were the ones in court.  ;-)

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  This goes rather good with our theme, as more forgiveness, in this world, would be quite welcome.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 22-28, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Welcome.  Do you feel welcome?  Do you regularly welcome other people?  These two go together, you know...

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  Are you an authentic human being?  How do you know?  I hate being "partisan", but some, in politics want you to answer that question, before asserting your right to vote.

Friday, July 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, July 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  We all have experiences.  The trick is to be able to interpret them.  For example, what's important in the long run?  Interpretation can also be a good career move.

Thursday, July 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Keeping with our theme, when with a partner (especially a domestic one), some people are tempted to exclusively interact with that partner, with only limited access to other people.  In my opinion, that is a mistake, because we need a well rounded connection to others.  Indeed, human beings are social animals.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  This is a good trait to develop because, as the saying goes, "You get what you concentrate on".  There was a long-running daytime TV game show by this name, as well as a card game.

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  There is a paradox:  To be acceptable to others, do not try to force the issue.  That would be what is called "ingratiation", or what is called "being a people-pleaser".  A good start to true acceptability is to be acceptable to yourself.

Monday, July 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, July 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  That is really what we need more of in this world.  So, what are you waiting for?  :-)

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  Partnerships give great opportunities for sharing, whether in business or family settings.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 15-21, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Partnership.  There is an old saying that goes something like [paraphrased]:  "None of us are islands unto ourselves".  To go farther, I could suggest that we are all partners, and get farther by cooperation, rather than competition.

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, July 14, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  Keeping with our Education theme, this is the "executive" method of learning, also used for subjects we don't major in:  Instead of reading whole books, we could, instead, read "Cliff Notes editions".  Or, as has been recently popular, ________ for Dummies.  (Fill in the blank).  But a well-balanced approach to life does give give a level of perspective to life.

Friday, July 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, July 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  This is an introspective method of study, which can come close to meditation.  In other words, "reflect on that experiment you did last Monday".

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  I'll express this in a hypothetical, semi-humorous way:  First, there was Monday's experiment.  Then, on Tuesday, a review of how well that experiment worked.  Then, on Wednesday, a chance to get absorbed in lectures and documentaries of how the experiment SHOULD have worked.  And then, today, study hall!  Does this sound like how school went (or is going)?

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  This is an unusual method of learning  --  think of the "immersion method" of learning an alternative world language.  It makes me think of a sponge.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  We continue with this week's themes (Guidance and Mentor  --  in effect, educational issues).  After yesterday's experimentation, comes the paperwork of today, where you "review" how successful the experiment actually was.  Did you learn anything from it (or them)?  Did anything go wrong (such as broken glassware)?  But, most importantly, did you clean up that glassware?  :-)

Monday, July 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, July 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  This goes with our themes (basically education) very well, as a good way to learn some subjects is to "try things out".

Sunday, July 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  I would like to recognize those who have taught me through the years, regardless of how they did it.  And please note that, in my opinion, we all learn from each other.

Weekly Themes: Week of July 8-14, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Guidance and Mentor.  For the most part, we have experiences in giving and receiving both of these.  For example, I might ask a person on the street if they know where the Amtrak train station is.  Assuming they know, and give me the right answer, I received guidance from them.  Also, I may be visiting a friend at his/her home, who is having trouble with his/her computer.  I have no trouble sitting down and mentoring people on computer use.  Giving and receiving:  They both work.

Saturday, July 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  "I resolve to not lose my resolve".  Yes, resolutions are for more than just New Years.

Friday, July 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, July 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  A couple of weeks ago (on a Thursday), the word was Encouragement.  These are related as, on one hand, it takes courage to encourage but, on the other hand, encouragement is lending your courage to another person.

Thursday, July 5, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, July 5, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  These are good traits to develop, but be careful to not overpower those around you.  Especially in domestic situations.

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  It takes a level of competence to run a family.  Indeed, it takes some competence to even be a member of a family!  :-)

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  The connection with our Theme (Domestication) can be problematic, as home life can be hard to endure at times.  Fortunately, yoga and a good diet can help with these issues.

Monday, July 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, July 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  In its "usual" definition, this goes perfectly with Domestication (our theme):  "Be fruitful and multiply".  (Note:  I'm not saying I fully agree with the prior sentence, at this time in history).

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  And I believe this helps with our theme, as a stable family environment usually helps.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 1-7, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Domestication.  Family life?  Please note that this can be quite multidimensional, including career choices.

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  When you find yourself stuck in life, look for the "Release Lever".  You'd be surprised at where it hides!

Friday, June 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, June 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  Yes, aspire to be your own, personal best.  That's a good way to stay healthy.

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  Life can look and feel many ways.  On the "low" end, there is "Peaceful", but also "Boring".  However, on the "high" end, it can get "exciting", but it can also get "nerve-wracking" (also known as "anxious", or "scary", depending on details).  Neither Boring   nor Anxious are conducive to health.  Which is why the "middle way" (as known in Eastern Religion) becomes important to bring into life.  Yes, find that Contrast knob!

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  Learning to adapt to your surroundings helps make friends.  "Requesting" that those around you adapt to you helps lose them.  Just a heads up...

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Words for the Day: Tuesday, June 26, 2012

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  Proper eating, exercise, yoga.  Need I say more?  :-)

Monday, June 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, June 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  This is an odd Word, as some aspects of it are conducive to Health (our Theme), such as Spiritual Acceleration.  However, other aspects, such as addiction to physical acceleration, like what you get by overusing the gas pedal in a car, can actually hinder health, by making you accident prone.

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Words for the day: Sunday, June 24, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  These help with health in many ways, including allowing the body time to do its own healing work.  I learned, a long time ago to keep patience, regarding body discomforts.  And only if they go too long, or get too severe, to "follow up" on them.  In effect, keep my motto in effect, "Be Calm, Relaxed and Neutral" but, at the same time, keep a "low level surveillance" on the "situation".  This can be done in a way that doesn't "violate" the old saying, "What you resist persists".

Weekly Theme: Week of June 24-30, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Health.  One reminder here is that Health means more than the condition of the physical body:  For example, we have emotional health, mental health, and spiritual health.  Stay healthy in all ways!

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgment.  It is a great service to acknowledge those who provide help in your life.  Why?  Because we are not alone and, therefore, we are dependent on each other.

Friday, June 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, June 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  This is one of the best examples of Service that can be performed on Planet Earth.  Yes, practice random, senseless acts of Kindness, as often as practical.  Pretty soon, it will be one of the best habits you can form.

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  This can be a great service to another human being, especially if they spend time in fear.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  This is an excellent service to provide to others (as well as yourself):  Think before you act or speak.  Simple as that.

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  A good part of Service (the theme) is to provide support to others, possibly on the same team (like in a conventional job).  This is called being a team player.

Monday, June 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, June 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  To Serve [theme] in Comfort?  Or provide Comfort, as a Service?  Both of these work well.

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  This is a most delicious Word, and a great way to be of Service.  Enjoy!

Weekly Theme: Week of June 17-23, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Service.  There are many ways to be of service.  For example, you are of service in your Day Job, based on on your interests and training (education).  But there are other examples, such as being of service to another person, simply by being willing to lend an ear, and listening to what is on their mind.

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Remember, here, that this has to do with more than monetary prosperity.  In fact, I would put money lower down in the list.

Incidentally, this is the last day of a "Greater Michael Year" (made up of 3 "Lesser Michael Years", titled, Truth, Love and Energy/Beauty).  Numerically, it is 1029, or King/King/King.  Tomorrow will be 1, or Server/Server/Server.  Good luck with the shift!

Friday, June 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, June 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  What blocks and/or barriers do you have in your life?  If you could liberate yourself from them, what price would you be willing to pay to do that?  (And one of those prices is that those blocks and barriers can seem very "comfortable" and "familiar").

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  Reading good books certainly help  --  practical philosophy, say about reality itself might help more than, say a Romance or Western novel.  But, in the long run, first hand experience living that reality is even better.

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  Highly sought after, but hard to find.  Even news corporations have trouble finding this.  (And note that some would replace the first word in prior sentence with "Especially").

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  Always the law of Karma, this is that old phrase, "what Goes around, Comes around".  And, to tie this to our Theme, we always look for ways to Complete our Karma.

Monday, June 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, June 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  In our Theme, I suggested the importance of completing projects.  I don't believe this Word means to eliminate projects but, instead, to eliminate the obstacles to completing them.

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  And yes, this trait makes it easier to complete projects, in my opinion.

Weekly Theme: Week of June 10-16, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Completion.  I have found it much easier to begin a new project, than to complete a project.  Why?  Probably me.  :-)

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  My feeling about the meaning of this Word is that spiritual expansion is good.  However, be careful about expansion around your middle, usually caused by "eating lots of delicious things".

Friday, June 8, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, June 8, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  Would you believe that some people of authority demand your trust?  The problem:  Some of those people violate that trust.  (Shocker!)  Oh, by the way, it's also a good idea to keep your eyesight with your faith, as blind faith isn't the best thing.

Thursday, June 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Isn't it nice having Thanksgiving once every 7 weeks?  :-)

Yes, these Daily Words repeat themselves every 49 days.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  My philosophy is equal opportunity for all, regardless of background (within reason).  The problem is that some look at this differently, by demanding equality through conformity.

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  Practicality in a big way.  But be careful not to go overboard, lest you become a "prude".

Monday, June 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, June 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  What does it feel like to be innocent?  Actually, great, because I feel free to just "be myself", rather than having to "maintain a lie", to "make it in the world".  You can see this with young children, who know nothing better than just being themselves.

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  Forgive and forget?  How many times have I heard that, but it never seems to work that way.  I forgive easily enough, but usually can remember what others do to me.  And it makes sense, because I can respond affirmatively, if they attempt to repeat their "action" against me.  A long time ago, I heard "give forth" [i.e.  "give forth love"] as a way to turn around the word "forgive", in a good way.

Weekly Theme: Week of June 3-9, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Vision.  This is the realm of the Eyeball, since vision is eyesight.  But there is an inner meaning of Vision, that takes into consideration an inner form of vision, known in Eastern Religions and Metaphysics as the 3rd Eye, located on the forehead.

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  (Hmmm...   Interesting:  You can't have Authenticity without a city being in it.  I choose Seattle).

When you purchase "useless baubles" from companies that advertise on late-night TV, you frequently hear about how they come with a "Certificate of Authenticity".  How important is that, anyway?  For example, I never found one with the Human Body I got when I was born.

Friday, June 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, June 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  I'm going to get controversial by attempting to interpret our Weekly Theme, Union.  One interpretation is a union of two people who love each other.  Does this take the "conservative" view of only one man and one woman, or can two people of the same gender form a loving, committed union?  I personally believe the latter view.  Thank you.

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Human beings are social animals.  So how are we doing it now?  Facebook?

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  As a child, I liked the TV Game Show by this name.  In it, you concentrated on where certain images were, in a square game board.  If your memory was good enough, you won.  If not...

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  What do you accept in your life?  I hope yourself!  :-)

Monday, May 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, May 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  If enough people practice this, the "state of our Union" will be good, indeed.

Sunday, May 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  This goes with our Theme when families share their union, via marriage.

Weekly Theme: Week of May 27 - June 2, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Union.  Once a year, we hear our President say something like, "The State of our Union is Strong".  How does that compare to your life?

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, May 26, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  These make up the "Executive Summary" of life.  This is the Forest, that contains all of the Trees.

Friday, May 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, May 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  We can all be mirrors for each other, as easily as a clear lake, or a mirror made of glass or metal.

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  This is, of course, the "meat and potatoes" of getting through College.  But could adding spices make it better?

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  This is what a sponge does  --  absorb what is next to it, if it can.  (Obviously, something like water or oil is easier to absorb than something like silver or granite).

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  After yesterday's experiments, come today's paperwork, attempting to make sense of the results.  Review is also an important part of life in general.

Monday, May 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, May 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  A lot of us like to experiment  --  for example, pushing the limits.  Unfortunately, less of us like the resulting cleanup that might occur.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  So, to bring in our Theme, this would be recognizing differences, and the importance of combining (integrating) them.

Weekly Theme: Week of May 20-26, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Integration.  This is an act of combination, typically of differences previously separated.  In the United States, for example, integrating people of different races.  Spiritually, a multidimensional human being might integrate different aspects of him/herself.

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  This word can be used in two ways.  For example, "I resolve to keep my resolve".   Not too many like that...

Friday, May 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, May 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  There is a fine line between courage and foolhardiness, often based on whether the word "no" can be spoken.  Example:  "I dare you to ...", "No thank you!"

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, May 17, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  Do you know your own strength?  Do you feel empowered?  In most cases, everyone has spheres of influence where both of these are true.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  Are you competent to be yourself?  If not, how could you expect to be competent in anything else?  (Hint:  It is very relaxing to be able to just "be", without worrying about if one lie will collide with another one).

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  This is a good trait to develop, as we all know there is lots to endure these days!  :-)

I recommend Yoga for this.

Monday, May 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, May 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  Please note that this helps with Survival (our Theme) also, but more in "species survival".  In other words, be fruitful and multiply.

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, May 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  And, yes, stability can "improve the chances for survival".  (For example, it "might" be easier to survive in your own living room, in good weather, than in a jungle, with Lions, Tigers and Bears on land, as well as Piranha in the water).

Weekly Theme: Week of May 13-19, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Survival.  I wish to propose that this means more than just keeping the body alive:  Quality of life (in other words, Thriving) is important also.

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  If you feel stuck, find the "Release Lever".  Don't see it?  Ask your "upstairs" [Higher Self, Essence, Guardian Angels, etc.] for help.

Friday, May 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, May 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  Why aspire to the best you can be?  Because who would want to aspire to be mediocre?

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, May 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  Find your Contrast Knob:  Too much contrast is scary, yet too little can be boring.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  This is flexibility, which is usually considered a good thing.  However, President Obama was recently attacked for mentioning Flexibility to a Russian head of state, thus gaining the nickname (momentarily, at least) as "President Flexible".

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 8, 2012

The Words for Yesterday (Tuesday) were Agility and Grace.  Being fastest (Monday's word) may not be the best to shoot for:  Remember the beauty of Ballet, for example, where graceful can be slow, but agile.

Monday, May 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, May 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  Spiritual acceleration is fine, as "spiritual traffic cops" are not known on Planet Earth at this time.  However, be careful of "physical acceleration", especially in a motor vehicle, or you might "manifest" a traffic ticket.

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Words for the Day: Sunday, May 6, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  Both of these are fantastic traits to use as tools in conscious manifestation.  Why?  Because it takes time for physical reality to change, to match your inner visions.

Weekly Theme: Week of May 6-12, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Manifestation.  We all manifest what is in our lives.  However, lots of people manifest, practically in an unconscious manner, by repeating "mental loops".  What is better is to manifest consciously, what you want in life.

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, May 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  And I most certainly acknowledge those who have helped me to achieve what I have in this life.

Friday, May 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, May 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  This is one of my favorite Words, as it helps the world go around.  I encourage everyone reading this to perform a random act of kindness.  (Daily would be good).

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday: May 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  Remember that it takes courage to encourage someone.  It's like you're adding your own courage to the courage of the other person.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, May 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  I call this "being full of thought", meaning to think before speaking and/or acting.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, May 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  Do you know your support group?  We should all have one.  Also, you are likely to be part of the support group of others.  (Hint:  Family is part of this, but not all).

Monday, April 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, April 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  Here's a humorous connection with our theme:  "Be a patron of comfortable businesses".

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  Some restaurants are more nourishing than others.  (An example of a type of restaurant that is not known for nourishment is the fast food type).  So, if you find a restaurant that you like a lot, and serves good, nourishing food, then I encourage you to patronize it (which brings in our Theme).

Weekly Theme: Week of April 19 - May 5, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Patronage.  I've certainly heard the term, "Patron of the arts" before, typically referring to a symphony orchestra or opera house.  You can also be a patron of an organization, by contributing a significant amount, per year.  I suspect you can also be a patron of an idea, by putting a lot of your focus and attention on it.

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Prosperity is not necessarily about money.  For example, you can be prosperous with ideas.

Friday, April 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, April 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  Do you ever feel stuck?  In a box?  In a prison (either literally, or of your own creation)?  A lot of us need liberation at times.  Look for it.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  And remember that this comes, more from living life in detail (including trial and error), than it does from reading books.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  This is a trait that is highly sought after, but often hard to find, including in the News industry.  In the Michael Teachings, the Scholar Role has a slightly easier task of achieving this, as it requires a neutral stance towards life (or, at least, the topic at hand).

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  This is, of course, the Law of Karma:  "What goes around, comes around".  In fact, a site, the website for "The Middle Way" (a philosophy I live by) has a page called "The Domino Effect", which graphically shows this law.  (And note that I found this picture from a newsletters from one of the "Kindest Organizations" I can think of).

Monday, April 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, April 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  I see this as eliminating what does not work in life.  To tie it to this week's Theme, eliminating what stands against an ethical life.

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  We live in an Interdependent world, yet it still makes sense to know how to take care of yourself.  Also, this can be an Ethical Principle to live by.

Weekly Themes: Week of April 22-28, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Principles and Ethics.  If you are going to live on your principles, it is best if they be ethical ones!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  Spiritual expansion is fine.  However, watch out for overeating, as expansion of the "middle" can be a problem.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, April 20, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  I've said this before, but trust must be earned, and faith should not be blind.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Think of this as an extra "Thanksgiving Day".  We certainly need more than one day of the year to give thanks for all who have made us who we are.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 18, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  In my opinion, this doesn't mean a "false equality", by forced conformance.  Instead, I believe it means equal opportunity for all.

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  This is, of course, "discretion in practical affairs".  So what's so bad about it?  Does a person have to be a Prude to be Prudent?

Monday, April 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, April 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  This word can be used, either in the context of "the Innocence of Little Kids", or as the opposite of Guilty.  Take your pick!

Sunday, April 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  One special meaning I've heard for includes splitting forgive into give forth, as in "Give forth Love", with love being defined at its highest  --  Agape.

Weekly Themes: Week of April 15-21, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Salvage and Salvation.  One career choice would be a member of a Salvage team, finding useful items from, say, a building that is to be torn down.  According to the dictionary, salvation is pretty close, "the act of deliverance from harm, ruin or loss".  I guess the religious meaning of "saving your soul from sin" is close to this, as sin can cause "harm, ruin and/or loss".

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  There is only one person who can really be you.  Who?  You, of course!

Friday, April 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, April 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  This can, by the way, be a great career:  Just learn two or more languages, and be able to help people communicate with each other.

By the way, happy Friday, the 13th.  (Note that some past Friday, the 13th have been very lucky days for me).

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  The Human Being has been defined as a Social Animal.  The problem, now, is that people often socialize on the computer (i.e. Facebook).  However, please note that I consider in-person to be better.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  A long time ago, I heard, "You get what you concentrate on".  Guess what?  That is correct!  And how do I know?  Because some of what I concentrated on was not very pleasant!

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  Keeping with our Theme, a lot of addictions can be damaging, by turning away from constructive programs for other people, and towards service to self, at the expense of others.  Who can accept that?

Addictions must be managed.  We are all "addicted" to food, since we need nourishment.  However, that doesn't mean we need to go overboard and get overweight.

Monday, April 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, April 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  I consider this a way to get past addiction (our theme), because this gets a person to think about others, rather than him/herself.

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  In my post about the Theme, I mentioned Transits as tendencies.  And this combination is one to really be careful about.  In other words, I don't encourage sharing your addictions with others!  :-)

Weekly Theme: Week of April 8-14, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Addiction.  I look at this like Astrology transits:  This is a tendency that, if known, can be dealt with.  In other words, knowing that this is a tendency for this week, means that extra care can be taken, to ensure that addiction doesn't take over your life.

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Words for the Day: Saturday, April 7, 2012

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  Keeping with our education theme (which is NOT our Weekly Theme  --  it is Simplification), this is the Cliff Notes approach, for someone who only needs an "Executive Summary" of the topic at hand.  An example would be a manager, who would, of course, need the Perspective part of this also, so as to be more effective as a manager.

Friday, April 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, April 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  As far as learning is concerned, this is where you sit (or lie) quietly, and "internalize" what you heard and/or read, about the subject at hand.  There is a word, that was (as far as I know), coined in a Science Fiction book, "Stranger in a Strange Land".  That word is "Grok", which I define as "understand in a big-picture way".   I believe Reflection is required to Grok something.

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  Unlike yesterday, this is a more involved method of learning.  As an example, for a foreign language, you might use a textbook to "study" the structure of the French language. In addition, even with immersion, you need to study, to learn how to read and write the language.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  In Science Fiction, this is the way of learning, where you take a pill at night, and then sleep with a speaker in your pillow.  It's close to one way to learn a foreign language  --  Immersion, where you might spend a month in Paris, France, where there is practically nothing except French being spoken.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.

This is a loaded word, because there are more than one type of review.  Life review?  Review of your last choice (that might not have worked)?  Review before a test in school?  All of this is important.

Monday, April 2, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, April 2, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  Bringing in our Theme, we get "simple experiments".  What's wrong with that?  :-)

Sunday, April 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  It's good to recognize those who help you in your life.

Weekly Theme: Week of April 1-7, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Simplification.  Life gets so complicated these days.  Why?  Why can't we cut down on the clutter in our lives?  I have.  One way is to not over-commit to events.

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 31, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  This word is both a noun and a verb.  For example:  "I resolve to keep my resolve".  I am not certain which of these the Michael Teachings had in mind.

Friday, March 30, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, March 30, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  People often contrast Courage with Cowardliness, and rightly so.  However, there is another, overlooked contrast, Foolhardiness.  There is a three-word phrase to be very careful about:  "I dare you".  (Remember, the person doing the "daring" is not the person to be hurt).

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Words for the Day: Thursday, March 29, 2012

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  Do you know your own strength?  Do you feel empowered?  Both of these questions are quite important.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  To be competent in a subject, you go to school and study.  To be competent in a trade, you get training, which (hopefully) includes on-the-job training.  And you keep getting more competent (also hopefully), as you work at this trade.

Why did I say "hopefully" in the prior paragraph?  Because of a book, "The Peter Principle", which suggests exceptions to that "rule".  Be careful!

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  This is a good thing to develop.  Yoga is helpful.

Monday, March 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, March 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  Remember that there are more than one definition for this word:  For example, how about a fertile imagination?

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.  A major dilemma in life is Stability verses Adventure.  And our theme, Sacrifice often plays a part.  Like would you sacrifice stability for adventure, say, to take a promotion in a different part of the country?  Or would you sacrifice adventure (like frequent travel) for the stability of getting married, purchasing a house, and starting a family?  (Come to think of it, the latter example starts out like a huge adventure itself!)

Weekly Theme: Week of March 25-31, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Sacrifice.  There are, of course, extreme cases that are found on the news, like where a person sacrifices his/her life to save a child from a burning building.  But there are lesser examples, which are also important, such as sacrificing your good night's sleep to help out with an emergency at work.

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.  The release lever is a  good thing to find, especially if you are stuck somewhere.

Friday, March 23, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, March 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.  Aspire to be your personal best.  Why?  Because who would want to aspire to be mediocre?

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  Television sets have contrast controls, why don't we?  For too much contrast can get scary, while too little can get boring.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  Another word for this is Flexibility:  The flexible adapts to his/her surroundings, whereas the inflexible asks his/her surroundings to adapt to him/her.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Words for the Day: Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  These are good traits to develop and, of course, Yoga can help.

Monday, March 19, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, March 19, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  Spiritual acceleration is usually good, but please be careful in a car, as that sort of acceleration can bring speeding tickets.

Sunday, March 18, 2012

Words for the Day: Sunday, March 18, 2012

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  These are both good traits in life, and helpful in developing the Theme for this week, Prophecy.

Weekly Theme: Week of March 18-24, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Prophecy.  In the dictionary, this simply means predicting the future!  Of course, when you look at religious definitions, it looks sort of like the "New Age" concept called Channeling:  "Channeling the divine Word of the Lord".  I guess people can take their pick.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 17, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  I always like to acknowledge those who help me in my progress through this lifetime.  I think it is only fair.

Friday, March 16, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, March 16, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  I suggest a "random, senseless" act of Kindness today, as the world will be a better place if enough people do this.

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 15, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  It's good to encourage people, but be selective.  In some cases, encourage the person, but not necessarily his/her behavior.

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 14, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  Literally, "full of thought", this means to think, before speaking or acting, and is a good path to a better world.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 13, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  Do you have a Support Group?  Are you part of Support Groups for other people?  The answers may surprise you.

Monday, March 12, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, March 12, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  Are you comfortable right now?  Physically?  Mentally?  Spiritually?  Don't be surprised if the answers are different.

Sunday, March 11, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 11, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  Good nourishment is important for anybody, but especially for a person, challenged with a disability.

Weekly Theme: Week of March 11-17, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Disability.  I simply see a disability as a challenge to our way of life.  Leg issues, for example, would mean difficulty walking.  As long as there are other ways to get around (wheelchair, crutches), life can go on.  And a person, so afflicted, may excel in other ways, such as perhaps being a genius.

This marks a new seven-week Michael Month, with a Priest theme.

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 10, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  What would it mean, if one were financially prosperous, but spiritually destitute?  What would you do with the money to enhance your spirituality?  Think about this, all of you who would cut medical care to the poor (say by cutting back on Medicaid), while you lie on your mattress full of money, wondering where you fit in the universe.

Friday, March 9, 2012

Word for the Day: Friday, March 9, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  Do you ever feel like you are trapped, as if you are in Prison?  There can be many reasons for this, besides (of course) actually being in Prison.  There is a book about this called "We're All Doing Time", published by the Human Kindness Foundation, about just this subject.  The book, about Liberation through Meditation, is about all of the possible self-made prisons we might make for ourselves, but it hedges its bets by being offered, free of charge, to Jail or Prison inmates.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 8, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  I consider this to come, mainly, by Life Experience.  To a lesser degree, book reading is possible, depending on the books!  By the way, wise diplomats are the best.

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 7, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  We look for this in our News reporters (often with futility).  It is actually hard to find, due to the "rose colored glasses" syndrome.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  This means the Law of Karma:  Be careful what you say or do, because "what comes around goes around".  In science, it's "each action carries an equal reaction" [or some such].

I still remember that game show, as a kid, "Truth and Consequences".

Monday, March 5, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, March 5, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  My feeling is that this means to eliminate what doesn't work in your life.  But, whatever you do, eliminate it diplomatically.

Sunday, March 4, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 4, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  This is a good trait to have, especially if a diplomat.

Weekly Theme: Week of March 4-10, 2012

The Theme for this Week is Diplomacy.  One job, Diplomat, is so important that people holding it are often heard of, on the news.  Why is it so important?  Because it can even be a last step before war.

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 3, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  Spiritual expansion is great.  But watch expansion "around the middle".

Friday, March 2, 2012

Words for the Day: Friday, March 2, 2012

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  Trust must be earned (and shouldn't be demanded, like some government leaders try to do).  Faith shouldn't be blind.  These both can be matters of life and death.

Thursday, March 1, 2012

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 1, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  Gratitude helps the world go around, as we all have things to be thankful for  --  even when we don't see them.  It would be great to find somebody to thank today.

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 29, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  Wrong:  Forced conformity.  Right:  Equal opportunity for all.

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Word for the Day: Tuesday, February 28, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  This is a practical, everyday attribute, that helps to ensure your days and nights go well.  Be careful:  If you  go overboard, you can become a Prude.  :-)

Monday, February 27, 2012

Word for the Day: Monday, February 27, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  This either refers to the Innocence of little children, or the opposite of Guilty.  Either of these are good.

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Word for the Day: Sunday, February 26, 2012

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  At different times, we might either be in a position to need forgiveness, or in a great position to grant forgiveness.  And both of these can work through conversation (a restatement of our Theme).

Weekly Theme: Week of February 26 to March 3, 2012

The Themes for this Week are Intercourse and Dialogue.  My interpretation is that spoken intercourse means one person talking, the other hearing, and it's one-directional.  On the other hand, dialogue is two-directional, where both people take turns and, hopefully, understand each other.

Word for the Day: Saturday, February 25, 2012

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  You can often tell how "authentic" a person is presenting him/herself, by making eye contact.  (Part of this is if the person refuses to look you in the eye).  Why is this?  I've heard, from many different sources, that our eyes are the windows to our soul.

Word for the Day: Friday, February 24, 2012

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  Besides being a good career choice, interpretation is good in your own life  --  for example, we all have a wide variation of experiences, which we can interpret in many ways, some good, some bad, and some, downright ugly.

Word for the Day: Thursday, February 23, 2012

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  It's great to socialize on, say, Facebook or Twitter.  However, in my opinion, it's even better to socialize in person.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 22, 2012

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  The TV Game Show by this name identifies one version of this Word, concentrating on where one symbol (or word) is, so you remember it when it comes again.

Word for the Day: Tuesday, February 21, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptance.  One Michael concept is the nine Circles of Acceptance.  In a nutshell, some people are closer than others.  For example, a family member would be closer than a shop clerk you see once a week.  But please note that some people eject others completely from this entire circle.  The one comment I will close on is that you, yourself should be right in the middle of this circle.

Word for the Day: Monday, February 20, 2012

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  Where do you find natural Generosity?  Nature!  The flowers generously bloom, without looking for anything in return (except possibly earth, water and light). Why don't we return the favor?
