Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 6, 2012

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  My most direct use of strategy (the theme) has been as a chess player.  Obviously, the most important strategy, that leads directly to a win, is to topple the enemy king piece.  But, since that is easier if you have more pieces (actually points, as a queen has many more points than, say, a pawn), a common strategy is to try to take as many of the enemy pieces as possible.  There is a consequence to that, because a competing strategy is to sacrifice pieces for better position (meaning better command of the chess board).  So a well rounded knowledge of chess strategy makes a better chess player.
