Word for the Day: Friday, July 31, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. Bringing in our Theme would give the opportunity for anyone, involved in farming, to aspire to do the best job of Husbandry possible. Also, I'll add that those in relationships, have the opportunity to aspire to be the best husband (and I'll add wife) possible. I find Aspiration, by itself to be a rather humorous word, because of how many different definitions there are, many of which fit inside the medical field. (Just try putting "define aspiration" inside of Google).

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 30, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. And the life of Husbandry (as well as BEING a Husband) is often one of intense contrasts. Now, I'll grant that the life of being a wife can ALSO include contrasts, and of a different nature.

Now, what do you do, if you are overwhelmed by contrasts? Take a look in the "scene of your experience". Can you find that "Contrast knob"? It should look similar to the contrast knob, for your old-style Television Set. :-)

Why am I so concerned? Because too much Contrast can seem scary. And not enough of it, can get boring at times.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 29, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. So how do you become a more adaptable, or flexible husband? (Or wife, for that matter)? In general, a flexible person adapts to his/her surroundings. Now, the trouble with being inflexible is that, in my most humble opinion, the highly inflexible people actually ask their collective surroundings (including, but not limited to people) to adapt to them!

Words for the Day: Tuesday, July 28, 2015

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. An agile, and graceful husband? That actually sounds pretty good! But how does one develop agility and/or gracefulness? I suggest Yoga.

Monday, July 27, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, July 27, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated Husbandry (say, on a farm)? Accelerated Husband? (You know: A hard day on the job, followed by having to work hard at home)? Acceleration, in general is a double-edged sword, as accelerated intellectual and/or spiritual development is a good thing, in my opinion, while excessive physical acceleration say, in a motor vehicle can get you in trouble.

Words for the Day: Sunday, July 26, 2015

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. And Husbandry (as well as just being a good husband) requires both of these traits. However, don't forget that they both also help you through your life.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 26 through August 1, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Husbandry.  This word is highly known, in farm circles, commonly used, as the phrase Animal Husbandry.  Early on, when I encountered it, a sarcastic question came up:  "If we have husbandry, why not wifery?"   And then, when I looked up Wifery, I came up with a Wikipedia article on Spiritual Wifery.  I'll leave it up to you, whether you read the article.  Suffice it to say, that it has to do with love, "at differing points along the carnal-spiritual spectrum".

Back to husbandry, the above article describes the "management and care of farm animals by humans for profit".  Since this is a Theme, within the Michael system, I looked closer, to find a deeper meaning.  While it can easily go beyond, just animals, I am at a loss to find where it goes much beyond the farming trade, except for the concept of ecology.  Anybody else?  Thanks!

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 25, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. So are we acknowledging the act of cultivation, or are we cultivating acknowledgement? Both work, of course, though I acknowledge more than just cultivating crops. For example, I acknowledge those, who have helped me, through my lifetime (and there are WAY too many to name here). Remember, folks: It takes knowledge to acknowledge!

Word for the Day: Friday, July 24, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. "Cultivate Kindness"? This is so simple, it's obvious: Be Kind. There is a "neutral level of kindness", that I've found to be the best balance. See, if too kind, you call attention to yourself, and the person suddenly gets caught up in their own issues, such as if they "deserve" your kindness. The opposite (i.e. a person "acting like a jerk"), also shows up. But there's this middle level, such as, if I'm close to the person in back of me, holding the door for him/her, and they just say a neutral, "thank you", pass through, and you may never meet again. But if you "go out of your way" to stand there, for an extended period, it might stand out, especially if, for example, you are holding a door open for a woman, who already has a man with her. The word "etiquette" comes to mind.

Bottom line: I prefer acts of kindness that do not stand out.

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 23, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. So do we cultivate encouragement, or encourage cultivation? Both possibilities have their uses (the second, especially if you are on a farm). But watch out for our Word, as you often have to live with what you encourage.

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 22, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. So how does one cultivate thoughtfulness? By thinking before speaking and/or acting of course. And how does one cultivate this in others? By being a good example.

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 21, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. So how does one cultivate support? There's one way, that is obvious to some, but not even thought of, by others: Provide support to others. What I've found, is that my talents support others in some ways. Often those same people find other ways to support me. And then, some, who see that I'm willing to provide support, feel better, supporting me. It works well on all levels.

Monday, July 20, 2015

Word for the day: Monday. July 20, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. As a Computer Consultant. I can be comfortable in a lot of environments. But Can we live in a cloud? Is that sustainable?

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 19, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. And what better way to start this [7 week] "Michael Month" (as well as Week), by cultivating some good, delicious nourishment? Have you had anything delicious today?

Weekly Theme: Week of July 19-25, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Cultivation.  In "farm-language", this denotes the preparation of the land, as well as planting, weeding and picking the crop, that then can be part of our food supply.  But you can cultivate more than just farms, including a personal quality or skill like, for example, your imagination.

Saturday, July 18, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 18, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. So can we make a choice to be prosperous? We make choices, all through our lives, in that direction. Going to school. Picking our major (often, even before college). Choosing where to work (or choosing an "alternative"). And, for the metaphysically involved, perhaps even choosing the nature of the current lifetime.

Friday, July 17, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, July 17, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. Liberation by Choice? Well, conduct your life ethically (to avoid the "criminal justice system") and don't act too mentally unstable (to avoid getting committed to Mental Hospitals), and you generally keep the ability to "self-liberate". What I have found, over the years, is that the majority of "restrictions from Choice" are illusions. (However, there are reasons to "voluntarily avoid" some "choices", due to some choices lacking ethics, and/or "appearing crazy").

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 16 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. I consider a wise choice, the best kind to make. And how would I describe a wise choice? With a handful of Words from prior weeks, such as thoughtful, kind, courageous, generous and authentic. So a lot of these Words build on each other.

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 15, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. My choice to become, as close to impartial as practical, wasn't just one choice, but an entire series of choices, all the way from College and Career, to how I handle other human beings, whether in my infrequent "relationships", or how I treat those I see around me, in everyday life. Please note that it's not easy to become impartial, because we all have opinions. It's also not easy to find impartiality, especially in the place that describes it, the news. But don't stop looking.

Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 14, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. I agree that making choices include consequences. However, I firmly believe there can be a significant consequence, when a person fails to make a choice (which often means things occur, by "default").

Monday, July 13, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, July 13, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. And I am "giving myself the authority" to categorically deny that people should "eliminate choice". On the contrary, if anything is to be eliminated, it's what might be standing in the way of making effective choices.

Sunday, July 12, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 12, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. And of course we make choices, whether we consider ourselves self-reliant or not, but we can sure feel better about these choices, when we are.

Weekly Theme: Week of July 12-18, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Choice.  How many times have you heard the phrase, "You have no choice"?  As far as I'm concerned, you always have a choice.  Often, when that phrase is used, it's laughable:  "You have no choice, because if you don't do ______, than such and so will happen".  Of course you have the choice of "such and so".

Make your choices wisely!  Thank you.

Saturday, July 11, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, July 11, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. If I'm going to have a Transformation of Expansion, I'd rather it be spiritual expansion, than expansion "around my middle" (which is usually caused by overdosing on delicious food). I'll even happily expand my intellect. Thank you very much!

Friday, July 10, 2015

Words for the Day: Friday, July 10, 2015

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. I think it works somehow like: "I Trust my Transitions, and have Faith in my Transformations". When working with "ordinary people", be careful, however, as trust must be earned or developed, and faith must not be blind.

Thursday, July 9, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 9, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. And I'm definitely grateful for the Transformations, in my life. Having this Word is almost like having an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 8, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. What does it mean to be equal? Does it require a transformation? Or is being human meant to include equal opportunity? Please note that I've never been in favor of the "other meaning" of equality: Forced conformity!

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, July 7, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. So how would you describe a "prudent transition"? How about a "prudent transformation"? How about, where you never lose perspective? Where you remain practical? Above all, stay sane.

Monday, July 6, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, July 6, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Now this could be a transformation, in the other direction than yesterday's scenario. So how DO you transform, from "Guilty" to "Innocent"? A good appeals attorney, of course. :-)

Getting serious, for a minute, my favorite usage o the word, Innocence, is "the Innocence of little children".

Sunday, July 5, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, July 5, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. And yes, some transformations might require asking for forgiveness like, for example [and Heaven Forbid], a transformation from a "Law Abiding Citizen", to a "Felon". So make your transformations positive ones.

Weekly Themes: Week of July 5-11, 2015

The Themes for this Week are Transition and Transformation.  These are, of course related, because something is different.  Transitions occur to everyone, even every day.  For example, you transition between wakefulness, sleep, and then wakefulness again, hopefully every day.  With transformations, it's you that changes.  Some of these can be easy to understand like, after [usually] four years, a transformation from a high school student, to a graduate.  But, as can be found, by Googling Transformation, it is a complex subject.

Saturday, July 4, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, July 4, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. In the care of a project (which brings in our Themes), you first want to be working on an "Authentic Project" which, in my years in the computer industry is not a given, especially when the requirements of the "End User" (who will be directly benefiting from the project) get drastically changed by your chain of management, before the project is given to (or "precipitated upon") you. And that's a major reason I wish to look at the original documents, from the requesting (or end user) department, so that I can challenge my supervisors, when these documents don't match the "Final Design" documents.

Now that was a bit more complex than I wanted. Let's paraphrase: Sort of like, if a person wants a house built, and says to put the Kitchen next to the Dining Room. But the managers of the builders themselves change the "Design", so as to put a full bathroom between the kitchen and dining area.  Not very authentic anymore, right?

Friday, July 3, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, July 3, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is interpretation. Before I get to this week's Themes, I wish to point out that Interpretation makes a good career choice on its own, because people who know more than one language are always in demand. Now, a project often has its own descriptive language, especially if it includes computer technology. So, for example, people who are already highly experienced, in the technologies involved can interpret them to the less experienced members of the team.

Thursday, July 2, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, July 2, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. So, if you're working on a Project (via our Themes), you often have others, helping you out, directing you, and/or benefiting from the project. So, don't be shy! Socialize! It's a good way to have people work together: Play together also. And, like I've said before, Facebook and other computerized ways of being social are fine. But, if practical, see if you can meet in person. Sitting over coffee, or your beverage of choice can be quite refreshing.

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, July 1, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. Many times, I've heard the statement, "You get what you concentrate on". When there's a project involved (whether it "precipitates into your lap", or you "initiate it yourself), this is quite important, because it can work against you, if you're concentrating on everything but the project. For example, unless you are into Video Game design, playing something like Angry Birds or Farmville is unlikely to get you closer to completing your project.
