Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 30, 2020

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  So Revelations have Consequences?   (Certainly!  What doesn't?)  But please consider that Ignoring  (or, in some way, Blocking)  Revelations  *also*  have Consequences.  Think about it!

Monday, June 29, 2020

Word for the Day: Monday, June 29, 2020

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  Eliminating Revelation itself?  (Please, No!)  But Eliminating things, that might get in the way of you being in a good State of Mind to Receive Revelations?  That might make sense.  Things, such as Self-Doubt and Victim Mentality can get in the way.  You get the picture.

Sunday, June 28, 2020

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 28, 2020

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  A Self-Reliant Revelation?  (Why not?)  But a Revelation about why it's good to be Self-Reliant fits too.  But remember that we have others around us too.

Weekly Theme: Week of June 28 to July 4, 2020

The Theme for this Week is Revelation.  So what does Google say?  Revelation is "a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way".  Please note that there are also Religious Connotations for this Theme, but I think the given Definition is good enough.  Now let's see how this fits our Week.

Saturday, June 27, 2020

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 27, 2020

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  Expanded Philosophy?  [or]  Philosophy of Expansion?  (Lots of Google Hits on this one!)  But let's be Selective about what we Expand.  Intellect and Spirituality?  Fine!  Your Body, around the Middle  (due to lots of Delicious Food)?  Not so great.  Careful there!

Friday, June 26, 2020

Word for the Day: Friday, June 26, 2020

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  What a Philosophy this can make.  But be Selective.  For example, I Trust the Universe, and have Faith in a Higher Power.  But, when "standard" Human Beings are involved, Trust needs to be Earned, and Faith should not be Blind.

Thursday, June 25, 2020

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 25, 2020

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  A Philosophy of Gratitude?  (Sounds Awesome to me!  Also, 58.5 million Hits on Google).  And let's talk about Gratitude:  In my opinion, Gratitude helps the World go around.  So I ask you:  What are you Grateful for?

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 24, 2020

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  An Equal Philosophy?  (Say what?)  [or]  A Philosophy of Equality?  On the Second One, I say,  "it depends".  For I agree with "Equal Opportunity",  but am against "Forced Conformity".

Tuesday, June 23, 2020

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 23, 2020

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  A Prudent Philosophy?  [or]  A Philosophy of Prudence?  The second one makes sense, since Prudence is, simply about being Practical.  Just don't go overboard and become a Prude.

Monday, June 22, 2020

Word for the Day: Monday, June 22, 2020

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  An Innocent Philosophy?  (Probably better than a Guilty one).  How about a Philosophy of Innocence?  (Hmmm...  Over 18 million hits on Google including some interesting-looking ones and the Wikipedia Entry for Innocence).  The bottom line?  It's better to be Innocent than Guilty.

Sunday, June 21, 2020

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 21, 2020

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  "Forgive my Philosophy"?  If it's an honest Philosophy, you should not be asked this question.  But, on the other hand, a Philosophy of forgiving others makes sense.

Weekly Theme: Week of June 21-27, 2020

The Theme for this Week is Philosophy.  So what does Google say about this?  Among other things, "the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence".  A Question some of us have been asked:  "What is your Philosophy of Life?"  This is a good topic to look up, and ponder.  And have fun, doing it.

Saturday, June 20, 2020

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 20, 2020

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  An Authentic Education?  (Look for the Certificate of Authenticity, like you see with those Plates sold on TV).  But the best place for Authenticity, is the admonition to Be Authentic to Yourself.

Friday, June 19, 2020

Word for the Day: Friday, June 19, 2020

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  One way this works well with our Theme, is that Interpreter is a good Career Path, that can be learned in College.  Turning this around, interpreting our Educational System can be a major undertaking.  And now we have online learning options, above and beyond what was offered before.  Enjoy!

Thursday, June 18, 2020

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 18, 2020

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Socialization in an Educational Environment?  (Some people think that's the most important part!)  Now, usually, I like to suggest that,  "in person"  Socialization is better than, say, online options.  But our situation isn't normal right now.  So we do what we can.

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 17, 2020

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  Concentrated Education?  (Just add water).  One important Teaching I received:  "You get what you Concentrate on".  That can go, either in a good or bad direction, depending on the Details of what you are Concentrating on.  So Concentrate well!

Tuesday, June 16, 2020

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 16, 2020

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  Acceptable Education?  (I would certainly  *hope*  so!)  But remember what is most important about Today's Word:  Be Acceptable to Yourself.

Monday, June 15, 2020

Word for the Day: Monday, June 15, 2020

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  "A Generous Education Teaches people Generosity".  The reason this can seem to work is that we learn by Example.  For example, would you expect Scrooge  ("A Christmas Carol")  to competently teach you Generosity?  Didn't think so.

Sunday, June 14, 2020

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 14, 2020

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  And what better to Share, than what you have Learned?  In my opinion, all of Life is a Learning Experience, and anybody around me can be my Teacher, at least for a time.  So Share and Share alike!

Weekly Themes: Week of June 14-20, 2020

The Themes for this Week are Education and Teaching.  The way I see this, Education includes Teaching, but you can be "Taught" outside of an Educational Context.  (In fact, I consider that I learn things frequently, in "Everyday Life").  One phrase I learned, decades ago:  "Everyone around me can be my Teacher".  This ought to be a  *very*  interesting week!

Words for the Day: Saturday, June 13, 2020

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  If you are Studying a topic, and want to Retain what you learn, it helps to know the Big Picture View of that Topic, a Perspective you can get, from the Overview of that Topic.  And this Big Picture View helps, no matter what you are doing, as it helps you to understand  "Why".

Friday, June 12, 2020

Word for the Day: Friday, June 12, 2020

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  Besides what you see in a Mirror, Google has this to say about Reflection:  "serious thought or consideration".  That is the meaning, that I believe fits into the Spirit of these Themes and Words.  And, in an Educational situation, this is a good way to Retain what you are learning.

Thursday, June 11, 2020

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 11, 2020

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  Retention of Study?  [or]  The Study of Retention?  (Both confusing).  But be Selective of what you Study, as there are, otherwise too many Topics to get to.

Wednesday, June 10, 2020

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 10, 2020

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  A Sponge Absorbs and Retains water, so why can't we Absorb and Retain Knowledge?  Try it!

Tuesday, June 9, 2020

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 9, 2020

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.  Review and Retention?  (They both start with "Re").  But, in a Learning Environment, Review  *is*  a good way to Retain what you just learned.  For example, if you are reading from a Textbook, hoping to get a good score on a test, take time to go back over what you read  (i.e. Skim the same passage, after you finish reading it through).  And note that some Textbooks help you, by having a  "Review"  portion of each Chapter.

Monday, June 8, 2020

Word for the Day: Monday, June 8, 2020

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.  Experimental Retention?  (Lots of hits on Google).  [or]  Retention of Experiments?  (Depends on the Experiments, I guess).  But one thing I learned a  *long*  time ago:  All Life is Experimental.  Now, are you going to Retain these Experiments?

Sunday, June 7, 2020

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 7, 2020

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.  If you Recognize someone, do you Retain that knowledge?  For how long?  Likewise, do you Recognize your Retention?  (Okay, now we're getting silly!)  How about if we recognize a good day?

Weekly Theme: Week of June 7-13, 2020

The Theme for this Week is Retention.  Retention?  You mean, "the continued possession, use, or control of something"?  There is a special version of this, where what is being retained is a Memory.  This shows up in Education, where Retention of what you studied is important to the success in a class.  I'm not sure, but I believe that this is the point of this Theme.

Saturday, June 6, 2020

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 6, 2020

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.  "I Resolve to Preserve my Resolve".  (Okay, I said it!)  But there is one thing important, to know about Resolutions:  They can be made at any time, not just at the New Years.

Friday, June 5, 2020

Word for the Day: Friday, June 5, 2020

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.  Preserving Courage?  [or]  Courage to Preserve?  (Hmmm...)  The Second one depends, of course, on what you want to Preserve.  Preserve your Health?  Preserve your Book Collection?  Preserve your Leftover Food?  None of these appear to require much Courage.  Preserving your Friendships?  Maybe, depending on the details of your Relationship.  Once again, this combination isn't obvious to me.

Thursday, June 4, 2020

Words for the Day: Thursday, June 4, 2020

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.  Do you have the Strength and Power to Preserve things?  How about Preserving your Strength and Empowerment?  (Okay, I'm going around in circles).  But these are awesome traits to have.

Wednesday, June 3, 2020

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 3, 2020

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.  Competent Preservation?  [or]  Preserving Competence?  (Again, not the same!)  But the best Question to ask:  Are you Competent to be Yourself?

Tuesday, June 2, 2020

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 2, 2020

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.  Preserving Endurance?  [or]  Enduring Preservation?  (These are  *not*  the same!)  The first is easier to understand:  Health Clubs and Yoga come to mind.  And what do you get for your efforts?  Better Endurance in the Future?  Okay.

Monday, June 1, 2020

Word for the Day: Monday, June 1, 2020

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.  The Usual Connotation of this Word  (Being Fruitful, so as to Multiply)  helps to preserve the Human Species, but only to a point.  Actually, we need to Preserve our Planet, to Preserve us.
