Word for the Day: Friday, January 31, 2014

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  Kindness helps Planet Earth go around.  I love it, when people do random, "senseless" acts of Kindness, especially if the people around them weren't doing it first.

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 30, 2014

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. I suggest being careful of who, or what you encourage. For example, I see clips on Reality TV shows (i.e. on TruTV, one example being "World's Dumbest Daredevils"), where people are strongly encouraging dangerous behavior (even, in some cases, Daring the person to conduct this behavior). In some cases, this can even bring in our Theme, when the person gets badly injured, and winding up disabled.  (A recently seen example, in the show mentioned earlier, had to do with Motorcycle riders performing "Wheelies" and "Stoppies" [in effect, a "reverse wheelie", done with "careful" use of the brakes].  You can get badly injured this way).

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 29, 2014

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  Being "full of thought", this simply means to think, before speaking and/or acting.  And this is important for everyone, especially those with disabilities.

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 28, 2014

The Word for Yesterday (Tuesday) was Support.  Everybody needs a support group.  And it's great if you can be part of somebody else's support group.  It works both ways.   And, to bring in our Theme, I wish to point out that people with disabilities really need support.

Monday, January 27, 2014

Word for the Day: Monday, January 27, 2014

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  Continuing with Disability (our Theme), one type of disability is Chronic Pain Syndrome, which absolutely makes getting comfortable difficult. Now pain is a "signal", from the body, that something is not right.  If the pain is constant, then the pain, itself is what's "not right", and different methods for relieving that pain is the answer, which gives the possibility for comfort.

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 26, 2014

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  We all need good nourishment, regardless of if we are disabled or not.  And it can help people with disabilities to feel better.

Weekly Theme: Week of 1/26 - 2/01/2014

The Theme for this Week is Disability.  When I went to Google, to look at definitions for disability, I got this gem from Wisconsin state.  In effect, a person, as compared with the majority of other people, is limited in what he or she can do.  The good news, based on the Michael Teachings, is that the Essence of us are whole.  It's just this part, on Planet Earth that has challenges.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 25, 2014

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  And yes, to bring in our Theme, the career path of Diplomacy comes with promises of prosperity, as long as you do your job well.  :-)

Friday, January 24, 2014

Word for the Day: Friday, January 24, 2014

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  So how does Diplomacy help with Liberation?  If practiced impeccably, diplomacy can liberate people from individual wars.  If made a regular practice, perhaps it could provide a step towards liberation from war itself.

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 23, 2014

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  How does this connect to Diplomacy (our Theme)?  Simple:  The best Diplomat is a wise one, in my opinion.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 22, 2014

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  Highly sought out, but hard to find, even in Diplomats, and especially in news organizations.  In the Michael Teachings, examine the Scholar Role, for those, who have the easiest path to achieve this.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 21, 2014

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  And yes, diplomacy has consequences, by definition.  However, I firmly believe that "alternatives to diplomacy" (like, for example, war) have even worse consequences.

Monday, January 20, 2014

Word for the Day: Monday, January 20, 2014

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  I state, full out that I am against eliminating Diplomacy!  There, that's done.

On the other hand, we could eliminate the obstacles to diplomacy, such as terrorism, war and, of course, corruption.

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 19, 2014

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  A self-reliant diplomat?  What would be the opposite?  A trainee diplomat?  :-)

Weekly Theme: Week of January 19-25, 2014

The Theme for this Week is Diplomacy.  Using Google to "define diplomacy" brings up a phrase, "international relations".  You mean, in the United States, you can't become a diplomat, between a red state and a blue state?  :-)

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 18, 2014

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  My take on how this fits with our Theme is that I welcome any chances to expand my communication skills.

In general, some expansion is great (for example, spiritual expansion), but there are some examples that can get uncomfortable, such as expanding the middle of my body, due to eating too much.

Friday, January 17, 2014

Words for the Day: Friday, January 17, 2014

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  Be careful who you trust, as trust should be earned.  (I remember a sign, on an independent hardware store:  "In God we Trust.  All others pay cash").  Also, blind faith might get you in trouble:  Be aware.

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 16, 2014

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  I am eternally grateful for all help I've gotten in this lifetime.  And that includes all help, clearly communicating with other people.  Thanks, everyone!

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 15, 2014

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. And this brings up a point, related to our Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue): Communication of ANY sort is best, if all parties are treated as equals. Otherwise, you might have one person "talking down" to the other, which often turns out to be unpleasant, at least to one of the individuals involved.

Good luck!

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 14, 2014

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  One definition is, "practical in everyday affairs", which fits our Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue) fine.  We definitely need to be practical when we communicate (in whatever way).  Another way to state this is to think before we communicate.

Monday, January 13, 2014

Word for the Day: Monday, January 13, 2014

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  How does this relate to our Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue)?  They both have to do with communication, which can be open, up front (in other words "innocent"), or subversive, deceitful (or, in other words, guilty).   Which do you think works better?  Thank you.

Sunday, January 12, 2014

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 12, 2014

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  And a good policy for our Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue) are to perform them, in a way that doesn't end up, requiring "too much" forgiveness.  (In other words, be careful).

Weekly Themes: Week of January 12-18, 2014

The Themes for this Week are Intercourse and Dialogue.  Guess what?  If you google "define intercourse", you get "communication or dealings between individuals or groups", which actually would make this a synonym for dialogue.  And, come to think of it, the kind of intercourse, usually "thought of" is still a type of "communication", right?

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Word for the Day: Saturday, January 11, 2014

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  Authentic humor?  Fake humor?  (I guess trying to pass someone else's joke off as your own isn't good).

In general, be an authentic human being.  Thank you.

Friday, January 10, 2014

Word for the Day: Friday, January 10, 2014

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  How do we interpret reality (which includes our theme, Humor)?  Remember that, when someone is telling a joke, it's not necessarily "the truth", but something, intended for laughs.  But be careful when telling jokes, as one person's humor might be outrageous to another.  And people have gotten in trouble (even losing jobs), for the jokes they told.

Thursday, January 9, 2014

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 9, 2014

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization.  Humorous socialization?  (Besides socializing at a comedy club)?  Indeed, good, clean humor can help keep a social group together.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 8, 2014

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration.  "You get what you concentrate on".  Well, what you concentrate on is your priority, and focus can be a synonym for concentrate, in this case.  And if you concentrate on humor, you might even have the possibility of a career as a stand-up comic.

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Word for the Day: Tuesday, January 7, 2014

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability.  And this fits this weeks Theme (Humor) like a glove.  Acceptable humor?  Unacceptable humor?  An easy example would be someone who bonks another person on the head, laughs, and yells, "Can't you take a joke?" - when the other person asks, "Why?"

Another example of unacceptable humor is denigrating another human being, based on who or what he/she is.  Fortunately, other people agree that this is unacceptable, and the person making the "joke" often finds him/herself in trouble.

Monday, January 6, 2014

Word for the Day: Monday, January 6, 2014

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity.  Be generous with your humor.  But don't overdo it.  A joke, repeated too much becomes something else, and you might not want to know what that "else" is.

Sunday, January 5, 2014

Word for the Day: Sunday, January 5, 2014

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing.  And this Word fits our Theme like a glove, because sharing humor (i.e. good jokes) can be awesome.  Share and share alike!

Weekly Theme: Week of January 5-11, 2014

The Theme for this Week is Humor.  Plugging "define humor" into Google gives multiple meanings, both positive and not so.  The one people usually think of is the good one, where you have a sense of humor and, perhaps tell good jokes.  Not so good, in my opinion, is where you "humor someone", by saying something that will "keep him/her happy", even if it's a lie.

Saturday, January 4, 2014

Words for the Day: Saturday, January 4, 2014

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective.  Another term for this is, either the "big picture view", or an "executive summary".  Always important to have, even (or perhaps especially) if a Mediator.

Friday, January 3, 2014

Word for the Day: Friday, January 3, 2014

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection.  Either a deeper version of Review, or what you look like in a mirror.  Both of these can fit, if you are a Mediator.  And should.

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Word for the Day: Thursday, January 2, 2014

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study.  How do you study to  be a Mediator?  In my case, I had to mediate between my Mom and Dad, growing up.  Does life experience count in college classes?

In general, the best thing to do, with Study is to study what you are interested in, not what others might think you should study.

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

Word for the Day: Wednesday, January 1, 2014

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption.  Looking at Google's definition, I find a definition I hadn't thought of: Engrossed, like "absorbing myself in a good book".  As far as formal education goes, this is a good way to learn a language.  There's even a name for it:  Immersion training.
