Word for the Day: Saturday, April 30, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. Once again, I find some "versions" of Expansion more welcome (i.e. Spiritual and Mental expansion), than other "forms" of Expansion (such as "expansion of the middle of the body"). Be selective!

Words for the Day: Friday, April 29, 2016

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.I have Faith in God, and I Trust the Universe. But, when people are involved, it can get complex, because Faith should not be blind, and Trust must be earned.

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 28, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. What a welcome concept: Giving Thanks for what you have! This is, by the way, one of my favorite Words!

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 27, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. I find one version of this welcome: Equal Opportunity. (The "less welcome" connotation is "forced conformity"). But equal opportunity allows individuals to excel.

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 26, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. Let's get practical for a moment, because that's what Prudence actually means: "Showing discretion in your practical affairs". That's all! Nothing about "fear of sex", like the connotation of Prude. Isn't that welcome?

Monday, April 25, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, April 25, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. As I compose this, I hear mention of Mass Incarceration on the news. And (especially in jails), a subset of those held, will be found innocent, as Jails are where people are "detained", during trial. (Prisons, on the other hand, can be destinations, for those who conduct their lives in ways that make them unacceptable to the general public). But, no matter from what, innocence is a welcome option to seek.

Sunday, April 24, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 24, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. So do any of you feel the need to ask forgiveness, for how you welcome other people? (You certainly see this in the news). My preference, is to apply the Golden Rule to this topic: Welcome others, as you would like to be welcomed.

Weekly Theme: Week of April 24-30, 2016

The Theme for this Week is Welcome.  Welcome to my BLOG!  :-)

Seriously, this is quite a pleasant Theme, which is "welcome", after some we've put up with, in the past.  So how do you welcome people, in your lives?  That would be a good thing to monitor, during this week.  Thanks!

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 23, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. So do Partnerships come with Certificates of Authenticity? (For that matter, do human bodies?) The best thing, of course, is to simply live an Authentic Life: Be truthful to yourself! Be Authentic towards others! The one who benefits most is you.

Friday, April 22, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, April 22, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. So how do you interpret partnerships? First off, so many types, some personal and some professional. But enough of this: If you know multiple languages, you may be qualified for a great career, as an interpreter.

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 21, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. We are a social species. How do I know? Facebook, of course! But don't let things, such as Facebook or Twitter stop you from socializing in person. For that's the most rewarding social contact of all!

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 20, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. "You get what you concentrate on". And this includes, of course, other people you are associated with, including in partnerships. So what ARE you concentrating on? What's working, or what is not? That can make a difference.

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 19, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Are some partnerships more acceptable than others? I guess, for example, that I would call a Prison Gang a "partnership" to avoid. Incidentally, the person to be most acceptable to, is yourself.

Monday, April 18, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, April 18, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. And it's good to be generous to anyone, not just to your partners (whether of family, career, or organizations you belong to). In my opinion, generosity helps the world go around.

Sunday, April 17, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 17, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. And, if you belong to a partnership, why wouldn't you be sharing with the others? And there can be some "partner arrangements", that might not immediately be thought of, as such: Such as a family. The spouses enter into the partnership, via marriage. And then, the children are "born into" the partnership. Think about it!

Weekly Theme: Week of April 17-23, 2016

The Theme for this Week is Partnership.  A "ship of partners"?  :-)  Seriously, why not:  Two of the [Google] definitions, combine to business or association of partners.  Why not a ship?  Partners, by the way, share both the profits, and liabilities of this business, which is something some people ignore, when they enter into this kind of arrangement.  (And then, often "act surprised", when things don't work out).

Saturday, April 16, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 16, 2016

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. These go together, to provide the "Big Picture" of whatever you are studying, or being tutored in. And anybody, wishing to teach a topic, should start with the big picture, before getting into the details.

Friday, April 15, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, April 15, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. Reflect, on what you've learned today. But also, be a mirror for others, and recognize others, as mirrors for you.I love mirrors.

Thursday, April 14, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 14, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. And a Tutor (aka Mentor) is often there, to help you study. But one of your responsibilities, is to be selective in what you study, because there are so many topics out there, that we'd not have time, to even scratch the surface.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 13, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Learning by absorbing? Absolutely! Especially other languages: One technique, for learning languages is called, "Immersion Training". It is where, pretty much the entire class, the only language spoken is the one being learned. So, how does it feel, being a sponge?

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 12, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Now absolutely, both Guidance Counselors and Mentors use the "Review Technique", to help in your teaching. That is a given. But is it practical for you to use Review in your own lives? Absolutely! For example, review your Shopping List, BEFORE you leave the store! But, also, review your day, while you are drifting off, before sleep. And, if you are pondering an upcoming "life change", review your life, so far, so as to avoid repeating mistakes. In my opinion, "Review" is a great life tool.

Monday, April 11, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, April 11, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is experimentation. Do you experiment, in your life? It's risky, of course, but trying new things can also be quite rewarding. Be careful, because anything new can foster mistakes, which could even be painful.

Sunday, April 10, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 10, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. I always like to recognize those, who help me, which definitely include those who assist with my learning. So who do you recognize? Thank you.

Weekly Themes: Week of April 10-16, 2016

The Themes for this Week are Guidance and Mentor.  These two words, both about education, can be used together:  "I provide guidance by being a mentor".  Mentor can also be used as a verb:  "Let me mentor you, before your examination".  One more note:  These words tend, more to individual help rather than, say, teaching in front of a group, in a classroom.

Saturday, April 9, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 9, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. "I resolve to keep my resolve, especially in domestic situations". Seriously, those you live with all the time, would likely be quite happy if you keep your Resolutions, even half of the time. Also note, that Resolutions can be made anytime. (Not just at New Years).

Friday, April 8, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, April 8, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Courage, in a domestic environment? Often, in my opinion, courage shows up, in the willingness to say "No", at appropriate times. Don't become a doormat! (And yes, in the household I grew up in, it was my Father, who played the role of Doormat. No stereotypes there. LOL!)

Thursday, April 7, 2016

Words for the Day: Thursday, April 7, 2016

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Any situation you are in, works better, if you find your own Strength, and this goes double for Domestic situations, in my opinion. And one way towards this, is to avoid giving your power away, for example, to a "dominant member of a family".

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 6, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. So what does it mean, to be domestically competent? A working family? A career? At the very least, a stable living environment, including a place to call home.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 5, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. And yes, some "Domestic situations" are easier to endure, than others. The one I grew up with, helped influence me to not see out adult relationships. But back to endurance. To develop it, many join Fitness clubs. I also suggest Yoga.

Monday, April 4, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, April 4, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. This is, of course, best known, in a "domestic context" (i.e. "Be fruitful and multiply"). But there are other usages of this Word also, such as "...a fertile imagination".

Sunday, April 3, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 3, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And there is a LOT to be said, for a stable "domestic situation". For one thing, I feel the need for a stable "base of operations", to plan my daily "expeditions". And I don't think I'm alone, either!

Weekly Theme: Week of April 3-9, 2016

The Theme for this Week is Domestication.  According to Google, "Domestication is the process of adapting wild plants and animals for human use".  Some examples of domesticated animals, are cats, dogs and cattle.  An expanded definition, in my opinion, is living in a family environment, including raising children.  This, as opposed to living by yourself, concentrating on a career, and home only to sleep and, at times, eat.

Saturday, April 2, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 2, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. To tie this to our Theme, are we released from Health, or are we REALLY released from those things, that keep us from being healthy? And remember, health occurs on multiple levels, such as physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. And, in my opinion, each level affects the other levels.

Friday, April 1, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, April 1, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. And there are health-related meanings for this word, especially in a Doctor's office. But I prefer the usage, that I aspire to be the best that I can.
