Word for the Day: Monday, November 30, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. Innocent conversation? (I'm combining my Themes). Conversation about innocence? How about innocent people, having a dialogue with each other? Lots can be done with this, of course.

Sunday, November 29, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 29, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. Forgive my dialogue? Of course, when I "ramble too much", when I talk. (At least I'm improving!) Forgive my Intercourse? That's a bit more touchy but, if you look closer at the Themes, you'll see the first definition of Intercourse is Communication. It's only in the SECOND definition, that the best known connotation of Sexual Intercourse is brought up. But I guess there could be multiple reasons, to have to apologize for that.  :-)

Weekly Themes: Week of 11/29 - 12/05/2015

The Themes for this Week are Intercourse and Dialogue.  Do  you know, that "meaning number one", from doing "define intercourse", on Google, gives "communication or dealings between individuals or groups"?  Only on "meaning number two", does it mention that "intercourse" could be "short", for "sexual intercourse"?  Please note that the term, "social intercourse" also exists, which brings in the second Theme, Dialogue, which also means communication (though Google says "conversation").

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 28, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Authentic humor? (So what would counterfeit humor be? Plagiarism of another comic?) In my opinion, the most authentic humor, is where the comic is being himself (or even when they are playing a role, but playing it, in a way that it SEEMS authentic, like Stephen Colbert, on his older show. He comes across a lot more authentic, on his new show on CBS: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert).

Friday, November 27, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, November 27, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. Interpreting humor (our Theme) can be tricky, because a joke, in one language, could be a serious insult, in another. So, when telling a joke, it is important to know your audience.

Thursday, November 26, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 26, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. And today (Thanksgiving) is a great time to socialize. But keep it light and humorous.

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 25, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. Concentrated Humor? (As opposed to Diluted Humor? LOL!) Or is it, to "concentrate" on keeping a good "sense of humor"? In my opinion, both of these are important.

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 24, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. So what is acceptable humor? I can say, in my opinion, what is NOT: Beating someone over the head, and laughing about it. But there are some rather wonderful comics, that I consider totally acceptable, including one I am watching on TV right now: Stephen Colbert.

Monday, November 23, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, November 23, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. This, by itself, could heal our world's financial system, if it were properly practiced. And, when combined with Humor, perhaps some of the philosophical misunderstandings, between different religions, might be resolvable.

Sunday, November 22, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 22, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. And what better to share with others, than a good sense of humor?

Weekly Theme: Week of November 22-28, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Humor.  As far as I can tell, humor is one of the most universal themes in the world.  No matter what the language is, in a country, there is likely to be humor, comedy and joke telling.  In fact, the only places I've seen anything, approaching a complete lack of humor, are a handful of fictional accounts of dystopian scenarios, most notably 1984, by George Orwell.  So let's hear it for Humor!

Saturday, November 21, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 21, 2015

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. These, together help make up the 'big picture view", which helps in SO many ways, including with our Theme: Mediation. In effect, to be an competent Mediator, you NEED to know the big picture view, of what's occurring on both sides of, say, a dispute.

Friday, November 20, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, November 20, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. This can be an important part of Mediation, as you reflect, carefully, on what's going on, with both sides of the dispute in question. Please note that there's another connotation to Reflection, as we are "mirrors to each other" in life.

Thursday, November 19, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 19, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Based on what I see in the news, it appears to me, that a profitable and rewarding topic, to study would be Mediation, as people, qualified to perform those duties seem few and far between.

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 18, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. And let's not "absorb our Mediators", please. From what I see on the news, mediators are needed now, more than ever. But I can see some use for Absorption Training, to help teach people to be better mediators. Put them in simulations of what might occur, in their field, or even have them give their own answers to real-world situations. (However, I see this form of teaching, more with foreign languages, in what is known as Language Immersion).

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 17, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. We can keep our Theme in mind, in two directions. Either review where Mediation has gotten us, in whatever grouping we belong to. Or review where we are now, perhaps without ENOUGH Mediation, to see if it can help us decrease, or end our War footing? Please note, that there will be a related, but different Theme, three weeks from now: Diplomacy. I believe both of these are better than actual war.

Monday, November 16, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, November 16, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. Perhaps, if more countries experimented with Mediation, they would have less use, for their standing armies.

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 15, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. I recognize those, who have helped me to be who I am now. I also recognize how important Mediation is, in the world today.

Weekly Theme: Week of November 15-21, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Mediation.  Submitting "define mediation" to Google gives some information, such as, "Intervention in a dispute in order to resolve it". It also gives a synonym, "arbitration".  This comes up in our news, frequently, where Mediation is considered a less extreme option, than War, to resolve a "dispute".  Let us hope this is always the case.

Saturday, November 14, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 14, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. So does Cooperation help develop resolve? Or do we resolve, as individuals to better cooperate with others? Both? I think so, also. We can see, here, that cooperation can occur, between countries, also. And that terrorist acts don't automatically lower the collective resolve.

Friday, November 13, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, November 13, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Is there such a thing as "cooperative courage"? Well, when people work together well, the group might have the courage to embark on adventures, that any individual member of the group might be afraid of. :The other side works also, as we can need courage, to cooperate with some, especially if the relationship isn't ideal.

Thursday, November 12, 2015

Words for the Day: Thursday, November 12, 2015

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you have the strength to enter into a cooperative venture? Do you feel empowered, when you ARE cooperating? These are both important. And, by the way, if you are looking to develop either or both of these "words", I suggest Yoga, as one tool.

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 11, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. So do we cooperate, to gain more competence? Or do we become competent, to cooperate with others? Both make sense. The first one has to do with schooling, where teachers and students cooperate with each other, for the success of the education. The second one has to do with learning how to effectively negotiate, in such a way, that both sides come out of the negotiation, winners.

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 10, 2015

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. So, can cooperation help you endure "stuff"? When you are with somebody, you can make "stuff" a "common evil" [assuming it's "hard to endure"], which "might" make it easier to "endure stuff" together. "Stuff"? I'll leave that to your imagination.

Monday, November 9, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, November 9, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. Now fertility has multiple connotations, including my favorite, a "fertile imagination". But, even with its "usual connotation", fertility is a cooperative venture, as it takes two, to "do it right".

Sunday, November 8, 2015

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 8, 2015

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. So, is it really easier to cooperate in a "stable environment"? I'm not so sure, as the kind of things, that inspire cooperation, are "common enemies", or at least "common issues".

Weekly Theme: Week of November 8-14, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Cooperation.  When people think of cooperation, they are comparing it with competition.  But I suspect that there is another "opposite" of cooperation, "going it alone".  When you plug "define cooperation" into Google, one thing you get are synonyms, such as [just 3 examples], Collaboration, Teamwork and Compromise.

Saturday, November 7, 2015

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 7, 2015

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. So how do you release clogs, in a Circulatory System? If it's in a human body, direct repair comes to mind, because clogged blood vessels can be a major problem, in this world. If it's a public library, yearly book sales are quite common.

In general, if you feel "stuck", look for the "release lever", in your Reality. It might be over, by the Contrast Knob, that I forgot to bring up, last Thursday.

Friday, November 6, 2015

Word for the Day: Friday, November 6, 2015

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. So, if you are a circulatory system, in a body, aspire to be the best one possible. Likewise, if you are a public library, aspire to be the best library possible.

(Sorry, but I dream a lot, and sometimes dream of things like this. LOL!)

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 5, 2015

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. Circulating Contrast, or a Contrast, in Circulation? I DO remember a "Contrast Solution", used, when they wanted to know more about my kidneys. And it "circulated around", before they were able to take their X-Rays. Oh well...

In general, pay attention to the Contrast in your life, because too little contrast can get boring, yet too much can get scary.

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 4, 2015

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. You have to be adaptable, to be able to circulate. What I mean, is that, if your ideas are on topic, and speak to your audience, they can circulate from person to person. The most inflexible example I can think of, is that the idea is not even given to anyone, unless there are "conditions". Feel free to continue this discussion. Flexible and adaptable ideas? Why not?

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Words for the Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2015

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. An agile circulatory system circulates blood gracefully. An agile group of city librarians also gracefully circulate books, in the neighborhood.

Monday, November 2, 2015

Word for the Day: Monday, November 2, 2015

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated Circulation? Of course: This works in more than one way, including in the body, where more oxygen goes, through your blood to your vital organs, including your brain. But I also see this, when public libraries expand (i.e. hiring more people, and purchasing more books). That way, more books circulate through the community, and faster.

Sunday, November 1, 2015

Words for the Day: Sunday, November 1, 2015

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. My favorite connotation for this Theme is Libraries. And, if you have a popular book (and insufficient copies), you would need to be patient, to get your turn, to take it out. Or be tolerant, about accepting a "substitution" (whether close or not).

Weekly Theme: Week of November 1-7, 2015

The Theme for this Week is Circulation.  Also known as Distribution, this word has multiple uses, including (for only two examples), circulating blood throughout a human body, or circulating books through a county, in the United States (or another nation, that uses the concept of "county").  As a "humble employee" of the Akashic Records, I prefer the Library analogy for this Theme.
