Word for the Day: Friday, June 30, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. And, of course, Organizations should always Aspire to be the best that they can. And of course, you as an individual can always Aspire to be your own, personal best, no matter what field you are in. And, of course, aspire to have fun.

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 29, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Organized Study? Of Course! That is what our Schools and Universities are, silly! :-)

But what I wish to say, today, is to be Selective, about what you study. Not all topics are created equally. (For examples, in The Sims, you can study up, on how to become the greatest Bank Robber. But do you *really* want to do that?) I like the College model, where you pick, not only a Major, but a Minor also.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 28, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Organized Absorption? (Sounds good, except I don't see how it would work). [or] Absorbing an Organization? (Would this be like one Corporation purchasing another one? In many cases, even the *name* of the firm being purchased goes away eventually). Actually, I find Absorption working best, in an academic setting. For example, the "Immersion Training" method of learning an alternative language, sounds a lot like absorption. So let's be like a Sponge today!  :-)

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 27, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. Review of an Organization? [or] Organized Review? (better than Disorganized Review, I guess, though that can't be much worse than yesterday's "disorganized experiment"!) Anyway, in my opinion, Review is a good thing to do, whether reviewing the success or failure of a Shopping Trip, a Year End Review, or even finally, Life Review, at the end of a lifetime.

Monday, June 26, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, June 26, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. Organized Experiments? Probably better than haphazard, disorganized "attempts" at experimenting (which, depending on what's being attempted, can be *very* dangerous. For example, people have been injured, by "simply" placing a peppermint Mentos in a bottle of Diet Coke, and tightly closing the Diet Coke bottle!)

Sunday, June 25, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 25, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. So do you recognize all of the Organizations that help you through your life? Look closely -- there are more than you think!

Weekly Theme: Week of 6/25 to 7/01/2017

The Theme for this Week is Organization.  Just for laughs, I went to Google for a definition, and wasn't disappointed:  "an organized body of people with a particular purpose, especially a business, society, association, etc".  (You don't use a derivative of a word in its definition.  My 5th Grade English teacher would be appalled!)  So what do I find, if I look up Organize?  "arrange into a structured whole; order".  Well, that's better, at least!  If I put these together, an Organization would be something like, "a body of people with a particular purpose, arranged into a structured whole".  So think of that, when working with all the different Organizations you deal with on a regular basis,.

Saturday, June 24, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 24, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. So do you Resolve to Protect? Or Protect your Resole? (Or, even, "I Resolve to Protect my Resolve". LOL!) One thing to remember, incidentally, is that Resolutions can be made at any time: Not just at the time of the New Year.

Friday, June 23, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, June 23, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Protecting our Courage: The Courage to Protect? Both directions work, in their own way. For example, to "protect your courage", face your fears, in one way or another. If you fear your dreams (i.e. experiencing frequent nightmares), start learning about dreams and dreaming. For example, there is a tool, used in Lucid Dreaming, where you directly face your attacker, knowing it can't hurt your waking, physical body. (And note that there is a wealth of freely available information about Lucid Dreaming. Just Google it!)

Thursday, June 22, 2017

Words for the Day: Thursday, June 22, 2017

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you know your own Strength? Do you feel Empowered? Finding your Strength is a pretty important step, in your personal Empowerment -- probably one reason why these two Words go together today. And if you are taking steps, to "increase" your strength (i.e. going to a Gym), an additional, highly recommended step is Yoga. And have fun!

Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 21, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. Do we Protect our Competence? Or are we Competent to Protect? (Yes, some of these go together, easier than others). So what's the most important consideration, regarding Competence? That you are Competent to Be Yourself!

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 20, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance. So do we Endure Protection (rackets, such as Insurance? [No, I'm not "against Insurance" per se, but think it's often overblown. I, of course, pay for multiple Insurance policies, including Renters and Medicare]). Or, are we talking about Protecting the concept of Endurance? Like, for example, including Endurance Training in our "exercise schedule". And, if you are in this category, I want you to look at one, awesome element, Yoga. Good luck!

Monday, June 19, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, June 19, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. Protect Fertility? Of course. Support Organic Farming! Need I say more?

Sunday, June 18, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 18, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. So are we to "Protect our Stability"? Or is it easier to have Protection in a Stable Environment? I think both! And I also think both our Theme and Word are helped, by living a Balanced Life. And, above all, have fun.

Weekly Theme: Week of June 18-24, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Protection.  What does it mean to Protect?  The first definition, according to Google is to "keep safe from harm or injury".  Then the word "Preserve" is used, such as preserving natural resources.  The first definition is interesting, because there are a number of corporations that are, quite specifically into Protection.  The most famous examples are the Insurance companies, who claim to be able to (for a price, of course), protect you from "financial harm", due to the category that they are for.  Categories?  Auto, home, life and health are popular categories.  So how do you protect yourself?  In my opinion, by living a balanced life.  If you keep yourself healthy, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, you often will, intuitively know what you need to do, in addition, for any additional protection you might need.  And good luck!

Saturday, June 17, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 17, 2917

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. Last Thursday, I mentioned that a "Release Lever" might be found, close to a "Contrast Knob". See, when you learn how life works, you find that you have more control over it, than you may have thought. The Release Lever is, quite simply made, for when you feel stuck. It may be real, figurative or imaginary. And, believe it or not, the choice is yours!

Friday, June 16, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, June 16, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. So, a man could Aspire to be the best Husband in the family he is in? (Though this works better that, regardless of where you fit, in the family (or families) you are in, you Aspire to be your personal best. A great start, is to communicate, the best you can). Aspiration is one of those "fun Words", because it has so many, different meanings, including medical ones.

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 15, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. Farm Life (i.e. via "Animal Husbandry") is a *major* life of Contrasts. Parts of it can be tedious, and other parts, downright frightening. (And *how* do I know all of this? Television, of course! LOL!) But note: Even if you Don't live on a Farm, your life is likely to consist of "periods of massive Contrast". If you feel you're "losing control", look for the Contrast Knob. (It'll likely be close to the "Release Lever" that I'll be describing to you, this coming Saturday!)

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 14, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. A synonym of adaptability is flexibility. It is good to be flexible. We know this, regarding our bodies, as we go through our lives. But it's also good to have a flexible Mind. For example, it's important to take a look at ideas, that might counter the ones you hold dear.Your degree of flexibility will be graded, on how you approach alternative views. Word to the wise!

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Words for the Day: Tuesday, June 13, 2017

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. Graceful farms? (Gives me a funny picture, of dancing farm animals). So how does one develop Agility and/or Grace? I suggest Yoga. And have fun with it!

Monday, June 12, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, June 12, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. Accelerated Husbandry? Husbands that Accelerate? (LOL! And yes, some of these go together, better than others). But, if we look at the Word itself, be selective! Accelerated Spirituality (or even Intellect) is great to do. But be careful, about excessive acceleration of moving vehicles, such that they attract "unfortunate attention"!

Sunday, June 11, 2017

Words for the Day: Sunday, June 11, 2017

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. I would suggest that, being, both a Husband, and practicing "Animal Husbandry" (i.e. on a farm) would require a Lot of Patience. And the results of either (a family or farm) would require LOTS of Tolerance!

Weekly Theme: Week of June 11-17, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Husbandry.  So what do we mean by this?  Google defines Husband as, "a married man considered in relation to his spouse".  But then, it defines Husbandry as, "the care, cultivation, and breeding of crops and animals".  So how do these connect to each other, if at all?  "Husband" relates to a family, and "Husbandry" to a farm.  Of course, in the past, Farms were run by families.  Both of these seem "down to Earth".  If we go to the other side, we find "Spiritual Wifery" (with a good, Wikipedia Page).  In No Way, do I claim to understand this!

Saturday, June 10, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 10, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. So do you Acknowledge Cultivation, or Cultivate Acknowledgement? Perhaps both have their place, though I personally favor the second. Acknowledge those, who help you through your life, and you're likely to encourage more help in the future. And remember: It takes Knowledge to Acknowledge!

Friday, June 9, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, June 9, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. This is easy to Cultivate: Just throw Kindness anywhere. It works in, pretty much all situations (as long as you are operating in a balanced manner). Need I say more?

Thursday, June 8, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 8, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. So are we Encouraging Cultivation? Or Cultivating Encouragement? Or Both? There is one thing, in common with this Theme and this Word: In both cases, you need to be Selective. Like, for example, who would want to cultivate a field, full of Poison Ivy? Likewise, who wants to encourage a criminal (except, perhaps, to encourage him/her to turn themselves in?) There is, of course, *one* person to Encourage: Yourself!

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, June 7, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. So do we Thoughtfully Cultivate (food)? Or do we Cultivate Thoughtfulness? Probably both. The key, is to Think, before speaking and acting and, of course, that includes details, on how people run farms.

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, June 6, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. So how does one "Cultivate" a Support Group? See, here I am, on the "Farmland of Life", and trying to figure out, whether to Plant "Support" next to the Broccoli, or the Brussels Sprouts???!!!

Seriously, though, one thing that I have, personally found helpful, is to Join the Support Groups, of your Friends. Remember, Support works in Both Directions!

Monday, June 5, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, June 5, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. So how do you "cultivate comfort"? Often, the "little things" help. For example, when in the planning stages, of opening a new (or remodeled) Restaurant, pay attention to the details, of the seating arrangement. For example, are you supplying chairs with back support? (as opposed to benches). How about cushions? If I feel comfortable, while I am eating, I am likely to, not only come back, but bring others. Otherwise, it's either takeout only, or I look for other places to eat at.

Sunday, June 4, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, June 4, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. So, if you live on a farm, you might *absolutely* go outside on morning, and Cultivate some delicious Nourishment for you and your Family. And then, if your location has a Farmer's Market, you can, in effect, Cultivate Nourishment for others, also. bon appétit!

Weekly Theme: Week of June 4-10, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Cultivation.  So what does it mean to Cultivate?  According to Google, one meaning is to, "prepare and use (land) for crops or gardening".  As a Science Fiction fan, I am reminded of a term, "Terraforming".  So I asked Google what it means to Terraform:  "(especially in science fiction) transform (a planet) so as to resemble the earth, especially so that it can support human life".  So (back to Cultivation), aren't we "transforming" a field, so it can support crops or gardening?  But, back to the original definition:  There is a second one:  "try to acquire or develop (a quality, sentiment, or skill)".  I agree with this, except for questioning the word, "try".  As Yoda said, in "Empire Strikes Back":  "Do or do not.  There is not 'Try'".

Saturday, June 3, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, June 3, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. So how much weight does a person's "Individual Choices" hold, in his/her "Level of Prosperity"? Obviously, the more the better! In addition, the "Personal Growth Philosophies" suggest close to 100 percent. However, "personal observation", coupled with "Scholarly Sources" (i.e. College Economics) would put the percentage much lower. I do not consider myself the best Information Source, for this topic, so I leave this topic here. So Good Luck everyone!

Friday, June 2, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, June 2, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. So do you make Liberated Choices? Or do you Choose Liberation? Perhaps both. But, if you feel yourself stuck (and needing Liberation), that is one time to *look* for Choices. Because there normally *are* Choices, in every situation you are in. So (to borrow yesterday's Word), Choose Wisely!

Thursday, June 1, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, June 1, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. Can somebody make a Choice to become Wise? How does this work, anyway? Some, possibly impatient people *wish* that they can gain, "full Wisdom", simply from "reading the right books" plus, possibly "attending a handful of Weekend Workshops". Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Because, in my experience, Wisdom comes, mainly from a pattern of Life Experiences. However, there are some things that might help: Look up the concept of Satsang. It is used, both in Hinduism and Buddhism and, quite simply, means "to be in Good Company" or, in other words, with people who, quite simply, "strive to be Good".

I'm not ready to "write a book" on what I mean, by "Good". But I like the "Attributes of a Boy Scout": "Trustworthy Loyal Helpful, Friendly Courteous Kind, Obedient Cheerful Thrifty, Brave Clean and Reverent". I'll add Polite to the list, as well as (and here is where Life Experience comes in): A "proven pattern" of seeing the Good in the people around you, as best you can. Also, a "proven pattern" of treating "the least" of the people around you, well -- wishing them well, and helping others, as much as is practical, without burning yourself out. (Some might describe this as a "pattern" of "Service to Others" but, also, while taking care of yourself -- keeping yourself healthy. This would be a "Balanced Life", say 50/50, and match a "Wise Passage" in the Christian Bible, "Love your Neighbor as Yourself". Balance!)

Finally, some "proven patterns", that might lead someone to be "labeled Bad": Once again, I can't "label someone", but I "most certainly" can "see patterns" around me. In general, if somebody has a "basic Orientation" of "Service to Self, at the Expense of Others *around* them", *That* might not be someone I would want to spend an excessive amount of time around! But, once again, it would take a Book to do Justice to this topic.
