Word for the Day: Sunday, April 30, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. Do you live in a "Stable Location"? And note that there are many issues contributing to stability, including (to name a few): climate, geology (i.e. how prone to earthquakes a location is), politics, and transportation. But the most important question: Are you happy there?

Weekly Theme: Week of 4/30 to 5/06/2017

The Theme for this Week is Location.  "Where are you located?"  That seems a simple, focused question, answerable in only one manner:  For example, if I were asked this, I could answer,"I'm located in Carrboro, North Carolina, in the United States of America".  But this can be said in multiple ways:  For example, the GPS Coordinates for Carrboro are 35°55′14″N 79°5′2″W.  An Astronomer might "muddy the waters", by discussing the changing "Location" of our Solar System in the Cosmos, as our Milky Way Galaxy moves around!

One question this Theme brings up:  How happy are you, about your current Location?  Do you like where you live?  And there are multiple reasons one might like, or dislike where they live:  Climate, crime rate, how friendly the other residents are, and transportation issues make up only some of the questions that might be asked.  Politics and the state of the schools are two other possible reasons to like, or dislike a location.  Where are *you* located?  Do you like it there?

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 29, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release. Do you feel stuck? Perhaps it's that Composition that is due shortly? Or, more likely something else? Well, look around in your Reality. Do you see a Lever? Look at its inscription. Does it say "Release" on it? No? (Oh well, not everything shows up, the way it's described. LOL!) But often, if you use your Imagination, you can find Release, from the Blocks and Barriers in your life.

Friday, April 28, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, April 28, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration, So, of course, you would Aspire to use your Imagination, to create the best Composition you have ever submitted. But what's the first step? Choose a topic!

Thursday, April 27, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 27, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. The amount of Contrast, in a composition you submit can definitely affect it: Too little Contrast can make it uninteresting (or, if extreme, even "boring"), yet too much Contrast can make it hard to follow (or, depending on the "type of contrast", even possibly scary!)  Keep that in mind.

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 26, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability. And, just like yesterday, an Adaptable Imagination makes for better Compositions. Please note, by the way, that it's straightforward to know the difference between flexible and inflexible people: Flexible people adapt to their environment. Inflexible people request that their environment adapt to them!

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Words for the Day: Tuesday, April 25, 2017

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace. Let's see: "An Agile Imagination facilitates a Graceful Composition"? (I certainly like the idea of an Agile Imagination!) So, where does one go, if they wish to develop their Agility and Grace? One resource I suggest is Yoga. (And not just Hatha, either).

Monday, April 24, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, April 24, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration. So how would you accelerate your Imagination? Pick a topic that excites you. Start exploring it. (I like Google, but there are other resources). Is there a story to it? If so, even better, because stories *want* to be told! Many stories are aching to be told, in fact. And finally, you have a composition, whether a book, movie (or both). Enjoy!

Sunday, April 23, 2017

Words for the Day: Sunday, April 23, 2017

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance. And, in my opinion, completing Compositions for school can require both patience *and* tolerance. But, using your imagination can definitely help in the quality of said composition.

Weekly Themes, Week of April 23-29, 2017

The Themes for this Week are Composition and Imagination.  I am currently studying Classical Composers (i.e. Beethoven and Tchaikovsky).  Among other things, their Compositions show *lots* of Imagination.  So these Themes definitely go together.  But what else can "composition" mean?  When I plugged "define composition" into Google, I got an interesting usage of composition:  "The social composition of villages".  But I close with a suggestion:  If you have children, do *not* discourage their Imagination!

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 22, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement. And I certainly acknowledge the Balance in my life, no matter how complex it is, to maintain. But there is one thing to know: It takes Knowledge to Acknowledge!

Friday, April 21, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, April 21, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness. In my opinion, it's one of the most Balanced Words in the English Language. In fact, I consider meanness, to be a major symptom of an unbalanced life. Be kind, folks!

Thursday, April 20, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 20, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement. Balanced Encouragement? Encouraging a Balanced Life? (I like the second one better). But one thing to remember, is to be selective on what you encourage. Like, for example, encouraging safe, kind behavior. (And perhaps, discouraging dangerous and/or mean activities. Three words I would like "minimized", are "I Dare You!") Finally, remember that it takes Courage to En-Courage.

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 19, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness. Balanced Thoughtfulness? A Thoughtful Balance? (I like that!) Anyway, thinking, before speaking and/or acting can *definitely* help foster a balanced life. (At least those around you will think so).

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 18, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support. One big step, to a balanced life is to find your Support Group. This should be obvious. What is less obvious, is how being part of the Support Groups of others is also part of being Balanced.

Monday, April 17, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, April 17, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort. Balanced Comfort? [or] A Comfortable Balance? One thing for sure: I've had a *much* better time, seeking out Balance, during the times when I live comfortably. Why? Because, when uncomfortable, my thinking was always on what was preventing the comfort.

Sunday, April 16, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 16, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment. And what better way to live, than through Balanced Nourishment?

Weekly Theme: Week of April 16-22, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Balance.  So what does it mean to be "Balanced"?  One "side" of me works, like the "other side"?  I am in a state of "equilibrium"?  I do not "fall down"?  How about "all of the above"?

Saturday, April 15, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 15, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity. Prosperity through Conservation? Why not? Because when you conserve, on what is expensive for you, you spend less, and have the opportunity to save (or invest) more. But please note, that Prosperity can mean more than, simply money.

Friday, April 14, 2017

Word for the Day: Friday, April 14, 2017

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. Liberation from Conservation? (Oh Please!) But Liberation from "Environmentally Hostile Behavior" is a *much* different story! This will be the second time I bring up a "worst case scenario" (at least, in my "humble opinion"): 1. Blow your nose. 2. Walk it into the bathroom. 3. Toss it in the toilet. and 4. Flush the toilet! --- Any idea how much Water you wasted? If you were living in California, in the last few years, and you "told the wrong person" what you did, you might *definitely* get "scolded"!

Thursday, April 13, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 13, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. Conservation of Wisdom? Wise Conservation? Both? One thing to know about Wisdom is, that Life Experience is the best way to develop it.

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 12, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. Conserving Impartiality? (How?) Impartial Conservation? (Closer. But easier to find than Impartial Newsmen?) Come to think of it, how "easy" *is* it to find Impartial Newsmen?

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 11, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. So are there Consequences, for Conserving? Possibly minor ones. But a *much* more major question follows: Can there be Consequences, for a long-term pattern of *Failure* *to* *Conserve*? On our Planet right now, most *Certainly* so! And don't let any of your Right Wing friends tell you otherwise (like, for example, touting the "benefits" of something so "laughable" as "Clean Coal").

Monday, April 10, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, April 10, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination. So are we Eliminating Conservation today? I most certainly *hope* not! But we can, most certainly Eliminate poor habits, such as blowing your nose, throwing the tissue into the Toilet and Flushing it down! How much waste occurred, in that one "unfortunate act"? In fact, I suspect that a *lot* of water waste occurs, in the bathrooms of our Suburbs.

Sunday, April 9, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 9, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. Self-Reliant Conservation? Why not? (I can hear it now: "Only You can Conserve Water Resources"! But I don't expect Smokey, the Bear to be the one saying *that*...)

Weekly Theme: Week of April 9-15, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Conservation.  So what does it mean to Conserve something?  "Protect [it] from harm or destruction"?  At least, that's what Google says.  One well-known example is Water:  During Drought episodes, people are asked to "conserve water", which mainly means to use "less of it".  But I see a more "personal" usage:  We human beings, may need, at times, to "conserve our energy".  How?  Less Stress, better diet, and even, perhaps Yoga.

Saturday, April 8, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 8, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. So when is Expansion Welcome? In my opinion, it depends on *what* is being "expanded". For example, I heartily welcome expansion of, both my Intellect and my Spiritual Growth. What I'm not so "sure" about, is expansion of the "middle" of my Body (which typically occurs, when eating *excessive amounts*, of Delicious Foods!)

Friday, April 7, 2017

Words for the Day: Friday, April 7, 2017

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. What is most Welcome about these, is *where* they are applied: Trust in "God" (however you define it), and Faith in "the Universe". When Human Beings are involved, it gets more complex: For example, Trust must be Earned, and Faith must *not* be Blind! (There was a sign, in Fairfax, California [north of San Francisco], outside of a Hardware store: "In God we Trust: All Others Pay Cash"!)

Thursday, April 6, 2017

Word for the Day: Thursday, April 6, 2017

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. What can be more Welcome, than expressing Gratitude, when others help you along, in the direction you are on? Simple as that! Remember, Gratitude helps the World go around. Thanks, everyone!

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Word for the Day: Wednesday, April 5, 2017

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. So when is Equality Welcome? Or, for that matter, when might Equality *not* be welcome? When the "definition" of equality, in a particular case, is conformity to an ideal, it might lead to "forced conformity" in some way: For example, when I Interviewed, for a computer job at a bank, I learned that the Dress Code for men consisted of a Suit (including a white shirt, tie and a dark coat). I didn't get that job (because someone else was more qualified), but I felt relief, when the job I landed went for "Business Casual". What I *do* Welcome, is Equal Opportunity for all.

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Word for the Day: Tuesday, April 4, 2017

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. So when is Prudence Welcome? When it is about the original meaning for Prudence, which is simply, "discretion in everyday affairs". In other words, there's no reason to "go overboard and turn into a Prude". And equating Prudence with sexual affairs is only a "connotation" -- if a rather old one, and not the original idea behind this Word.

Monday, April 3, 2017

Word for the Day: Monday, April 3, 2017

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. So how Welcome is Innocence? Much more Welcome, than "being Guilty", of course! I may have brought this up before, but an organization I find *very* welcome, is "The Innocence Project". Using recent Forensic techniques (such as DNA analysis), they revisit old cases (including people serving Life Sentences, or "living" on Death Row), and often give proof, "beyond a shadow of a doubt", that the person who was convicted, could *not* have been involved at all! How welcome is that?

Sunday, April 2, 2017

Word for the Day: Sunday, April 2, 2017

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. We usually don't feel the need, to Forgive a warm Welcome. But when we do *not* feel welcome? That is another story! And this can be turned around: Being forgiven can certainly be a welcome experience, especially when not expected, such as if the offense was serious. But remember that forgiveness, when carefully applied, can benefit the one, forgiving, as well as the one forgiven. Think about it!

Weekly Theme: Week of April 2-8, 2017

The Theme for this Week is Welcome.  When Person A says, "Thank You", Person B says, "You're Welcome".  What is he actually saying?  When I checked, I found an interesting analysis, by the Huffington Post.  It suggests, that the "best response" to "Thank You", is to suggest to the person that "they would do the same thing".  Would they?  In some cases, of course, but not always.  But, compared to some Themes I have seen over the weeks, I certainly "welcome" this one!

Saturday, April 1, 2017

Word for the Day: Saturday, April 1, 2017

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  An Authentic Partnership?  (How about a "Fake Partnership"? Let's see: A "second marriage" that's actually Bigamy)?  But then, I don't see many Partnerships, that come with a "Certificate of Authenticity".  (Hmmm... We likely have to wait, until Partnerships are sold by the "Franklin Mint".  LOL!)
