Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 30, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review.

Everybody in an organization gets a review at some time or another. It's about how your job (or volunteer work) has gone for this period.

But who reviews the organizations?

Monday, November 29, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, November 29, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation.

It can frequently be fun to experiment, but organization gives better chances of success.

Experiment, but carefully.

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 28, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition.

Recognize the organizations (as well as people) who help you directly, and indirectly. Also recognize those who help you to be better organized in your life.

Weekly Theme: Week of 11/28 - 12/04/2010

The Theme for this Week is Organization.

Personally, I compare Organization to Typing: I hated that high school typing class! However, I learned how to touch-type, without staring at the keyboard, which has helped my computer career immensely. Similarly, organization (being organized) was one of those boring, tedious classes, that has helped me a lot in life. However, the current state of my apartment tells me that I still have a lot to learn!

Please note that there is another usage of the word Organization, for example, "non-profit organization". I believe that both definitions have to do with this Weekly Theme.

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 27, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve.

This is both a noun ("Good protection means not losing our resolve"), and a verb ("I resolve to protect myself better"). (And a reminder: Protection is our theme until the Organization of tomorrow).

Friday, November 26, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, November 26, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage.

This goes perfectly with Protection (our Theme), as it takes courage to protect, especially from the many dangers of today.

A good start is to have the courage to be yourself.

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Words for the Day: Thursday, November 25, 2010

The two Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment.

Now these words go fantastic with Protection (our Theme). Incidentally, to develop these, I suggest Yoga.

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 24, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence.

As far as themes go, this would be an important trait for last week's theme (husbandry) for many reasons. But personal competence helps a lot, when it comes to protecting yourself and others.

Be competent to be yourself.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 23, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Endurance.

For maximum Protection (the Theme), I suggest Endurance training, recommending Yoga.

Note that today marks a Triple Warrior transit: Warrior month (from Sunday, November 7 through Saturday, December 25 [Christmas!]), Warrior week, and every Tuesday is Warrior day.

What do you get to endure today?

Monday, November 22, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, November 22, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility.

I would have thought this word would have gone better with the last two Themes (Cultivation, followed by Husbandry), than this week's (Protection). In other words, cultivating fertile crops on the farm. But this farm needs protection also!

Be fruitful and multiply (and that goes for your imagination, too).

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 21, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability.

This goes perfectly with Protection, our theme, as the opposite, instability or erratic behavior, causes accidents and injuries.

Note that there is a balance to look for, as too much stability, over too long a term can get boring.

Weekly Theme: Week of November 21-27, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Protection.

What does it mean to protect? What does it mean to be protected? To be safe? Governments often talk about "keeping you safe", "national security", and "public safety". And it is interesting, how the tools used to these ends often do not "feel very safe"!

My personal contention (your mileage may vary, of course), is that safety and protection must come from within. For example, there may be laws to keep everyone as safe as possible, but that won't stop you from, say, tripping over a rock and falling down on the sidewalk.

Be safe!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 20, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Release.

Do husbandry duties need release? I'm sure some of the farm equipment has release levers. :-)

In general, this is where you find out where you are stuck in life.

Friday, November 19, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, November 19, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration.

I am not even sure how this could connect with Husbandry (the theme), unless we aspirate water from the irrigation pipes, to water the crops we cultivated.

My suggestion: To make your life better, aspire to be the best you can.

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 18, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.

Contrast is an important topic. For example, too little can be dull and boring, yet too much can be a bit frightening. Also, it appears to me that it's possible to gain some control over the contrast in your life. It depends on what you choose to participate in.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 17, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.

I've said the following before: "Flexible people adapt to their surroundings. Inflexible people ask that their surroundings adapt to them". (And I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to say that).

Note that it's to your advantage to cultivate [theme] adaptability. It's like having teflon on you, where things you dislike simply slide around you, rather than hitting you spot on, making you feel miserable. One saying I've heard before: "Resist not, because what you resist persists".

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Words for the Day: Tuesday, November 16, 2010

The two Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.

After acceleration, the next step is to be agile and graceful, which can be quite beautiful. One form of dance I like to watch is called Ballet, normally performed with Classical Music.

Monday, November 15, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, November 15, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.

I find it a bit challenging to tie this word in with Husbandry (the theme), unless we put accelerator pedals on seed tillers.

I've said this in two other places already (Twitter and Facebook), but be careful with speed limits, when driving a car.

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Words for the Day: Sunday, November 14, 2010

The two Words for Today are Patience and Tolerance.

This ties to our Theme, mainly through how crucial both Patience and Tolerance are to effective Husbandry. However, Husbandry includes Cultivation (last week's theme), and both words are great things to cultivate.

Weekly Theme: Week of November 14-20, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Husbandry.

This word gives me a bit of trouble, so I went to the Free Dictionary for help: "The act or practice of cultivating crops and breeding and raising livestock".

Obviously, this works well for farmers. However, I can also conceive of "cultivating ideas, breeding projects, and raising them to completion".

It will be quite a challenge for me to tie this to this week's "Words for the Days"!

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 13, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgment.

Tying this to our theme goes best in the reverse direction: Acknowledge those who help you cultivate.

A good place to find people acknowledging others in at the beginning of books. It is amazing how many books would not have been written without help.

Friday, November 12, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, November 12, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.

This Word ties in with our Theme in multiple ways, for example, cultivating kindness, and cultivating with kindness (for example, rotating your crops, to keep your land in balance).

To cultivate a better world, I suggest performing a random act of kindness either today, or in the next few days.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 11, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.

How do we cultivate encouragement? Or do we encourage cultivation?

In this case, it seems to work in both directions.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 10, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.

Continuing with our theme, this is a fantastic trait to cultivate. And if a higher percentage of the population gave serious thought before speaking and/or acting, this would be a better world.

Note that there is a slang term for the opposite of Thoughtfulness: "Knee jerk reaction", which can result in, not only loss of friends, but even, in extreme cases, criminal charges.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 9, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.

Cultivate your Support Group. (Yes, I like to tie the Word with the weekly theme).

Speaking of support groups, don't be afraid to be part of the support groups of other people. (You are probably already part of more than one of these. The only problem is understanding the concept).

Monday, November 8, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, November 8, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.

How does this tie in with Cultivation (our theme)? Cultivate comfort? Be comfortable while cultivating? Probably both.

Sunday, November 7, 2010

Word for the Day: Sunday, November 7, 2010

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.

This ties in with Cultivation (our Theme) in a very delicious manner! :-)

But remember that Nourishment has to do with more than just food. For example, a great book tends to nourish the mind. (And an awful book might leave the mind in a similar state to where the body might be, if you only eat Junk Food, say at fast food "restaurants").

Weekly Theme: Week of November 7-13, 2010

The Theme for this Week is Cultivation.

This word is usually found in the context of farming (inserting the seeds in the ground, and adding fertilizer and proper amounts of water, different, depending on what plant it is). However, we also can find usage of the word in the sentence, "Let's cultivate a fertile imagination". (See Fertility as the word of the day, two weeks from tomorrow [Monday]).

Back to gardening, in Astrology, cultivation works well in the week before the New Moon.

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Word for the Day: Saturday, November 6, 2010

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.

How does Choice (the theme) fit in with prosperity? Certainly, the choices we make in our lives, for example, level of savings and debt, have a big influence on our prosperity. But remember, too, that prosperity is more than just money.

Friday, November 5, 2010

Word for the Day: Friday, November 5, 2010

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.

This ties in with Choice (our Theme), because the boxes and "prisons" (whether literal or self-made) come, due to the choices we make in life. But taking the steps needed to liberate ourselves is also a choice.

Choose wisely!

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Word for the Day: Thursday, November 4, 2010

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.

This ties in with Choice (the theme) in two directions: "Choose wisely", and "the wisdom to be able to choose effectively".

One reminder: In my opinion, wisdom comes more from life experience than from book learning. This includes "learning the hard way". For example, when [not if] you burn your fingers on the stove as a child, you will certainly know not to touch the "pretty red burner" again.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Word for the Day: Wednesday, November 3, 2010

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.

It is definitely a choice (theme) whether to shoot for this as a trait. It does not mean being wishy-washy, as it's just being able to consider all sides of a question. Also, it may be harder to achieve, after the recent United States Midterm Election.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Word for the Day: Tuesday, November 2, 2010

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.

There used to be a game show on TV, Truth or Consequences.

Please note that there are lots of examples of both Truth (or lack, thereof) and Consequences in the United States Midterm Elections.

To close, here's "hoping all your consequences are happy ones". (Bob Barker's signoff).

Monday, November 1, 2010

Word for the Day: Monday, November 1, 2010

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.

This ties in with Choice (our theme) in many ways, even a poor one (eliminating choice itself). However, what you eliminate in your life is a choice, often an extremely important one.
