Word for the Day: Thursday, February 28, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast.  And how better to know, than those who spend their lives in a life of great contrast, our Prophets?  For your sake, however, gain some control over your Contrast knob.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Adaptability.  A synonym for this word is flexibility.  And being flexible definitely helps in Prophesy.

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Words for the Day: Tuesday, February 26, 2013

The Words for Today (Tuesday) are Agility and Grace.  The tie-in to prophesy (our  Theme) is that these two traits are not necessarily physical.  Someone getting messages, suggesting the future need the agility to parse through the messages, as well as the context of them, to figure out their value.

Monday, February 25, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, February 25, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Acceleration.  Accelerated prophecy?  I'll certainly believe accelerated spiritual growth, leading to more of a capability for prophecy.  (But be careful of traffic cops, if you do "too much acceleration" in a motor vehicle).

Sunday, February 24, 2013

Words for the Day: Sunday, February 24, 2013

The Words for Today (Sunday) are Patience and Tolerance.  And there are many reasons for anyone, attempting prophecy to be, mainly patient, but also tolerant of mistakes by, either themselves or others attempting prophesy.

Weekly Theme: Week of 2/24 - 3/02/2013

The Theme for this Week is Prophesy.  Actually meaning prediction, this word has biblical connotations.  Unfortunately, a good percentage of predictions do not come true.  But that sure doesn't stop people from trying.

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, February 23, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Acknowledgement.  And acknowledging friends and relatives who have overcome challenges (including disabilities) helps them in their recovery.

Friday, February 22, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, February 22, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Kindness.  And be kind to everybody, not just those with challenges, whether physical or otherwise.

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, February 21, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Encouragement.  I would "encourage" you to encourage people with challenges (a word I like better than disabilities) to do and be the best they can.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Thoughtfulness.  Be thoughtful to everybody, not just the disabled.

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, February 19, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Support.  Most everybody has a support group, even (especially?) those with disabilities.  And, if you check around, you'll find that you're part of the support group of others.  What goes around comes around.

Monday, February 18, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, February 18, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Comfort.  People with challenges (aka disabilities) can usually still be comfortable.  And people who help them, in that way are to be congratulated.

Sunday, February 17, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, February 17, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Nourishment.  And this would be a great day for a nourishing (and delicious) meal, whether disabled or not.

Weekly Theme: Week of February 17-23, 2013

The Theme for this Week is Disability.  This is a Theme that has troubled me for a while.  I firmly believe that it doesn't mean that I'll get disabled myself (though a bit of caution may be in order when, for example, I might be tempted to run down a flight of stairs).  What I believe it is more about is for me to have compassion for those, around me, that might be handicapped.

Saturday, February 16, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, February 16, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Prosperity.  Let's see:  A prosperous diplomat?  Diplomacy for the sake of prosperity?  I guess both could work.

Incidentally, for those with the "decoder ring", the number for today is 245 (on the Truth Side), which corresponds to Sage/King/King.  The Theme (Diplomacy) corresponds to the Global Job and the Word, to the Community Responsibility.  Tomorrow, we begin the "Priest Month", with Priest/Server/Server.  The number will be 246.

Friday, February 15, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, February 15, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation.  I need help on this one.  :-)  (Like, if you do an outstanding job as a Diplomat, you can be "liberated" to a better job?  Or if Diplomacy itself is liberated to be a better career?)  Feel free to comment.

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, February 14, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom.  And yes, diplomacy should be wise.

People typically don't like to "learn the hard way" but, unfortunately, that makes us more wise in the long run.  (A phrase I learned, a long time ago is, "sadder, but wiser".  I've felt this more than once).

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 13, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality.  And diplomacy is supposed to be impartial.  Just like the news.  Unfortunately, with both of these, those who are in charge typically have strong opinions.

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, February 12, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence.  As I stated on Facebook, "Botched diplomacy can have very serious consequences".

When I was a kid, one of my favorite game shows was Truth or Consequences.  What made this funny was that the truth part was rare (since the contestant only had about two seconds to answer the trivia question).  And the consequences?  I'm sure the people behind the program, Fear Factor must have watched Truth or Consequences!

Monday, February 11, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, February 11, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Elimination.  And no, I don't believe this means to eliminate Diplomacy.  Instead, I feel it means to eliminate policies that stand in the way of diplomacy, such as "shoot first, ask questions later".

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, February 10, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance.  Needless to say, self-reliance is a good trait for a diplomat.

I learned a great deal about diplomacy from a Star Trek episode, "A Taste of Armageddon", which did not give a flattering view of being a diplomat.

Weekly Theme: Week of February 10-16, 2013

The Theme for this Week is Diplomacy.  An online thesaurus from Cambridge suggests that Diplomacy is a synonym to Mediation (the Theme from 3 weeks ago).  However, the corresponding Wikipedia articles don't cross-link each other!

If I am going to differentiate between these, I would consider Diplomacy to be more formal than Mediation (such as with a formal job title, Diplomat).

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, February 9, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion.  Expansive dialogue?  (Or expansive intercourse?  --  There are likely connotations for that, but I don't see 'em).

But just be careful about "too many delicious items", or you might "expand around the middle").

Friday, February 8, 2013

Words for the Day: Friday, February 8, 2013

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith.  It's not often that we have both two Themes (Intercourse and Dialogue) and two Words.  But these do go together because, as long as you listen, you can have faith that a conversation has a good chance of going well.  Trust gets in there also, because the way you conduct your end of the conversation depends a great deal, on how much you trust the person at the other end.

Thursday, February 7, 2013

Word for the Day: Thursday, February 7, 2013

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude.  And there is little that can improve communications better than expressing gratitude for any way the person on the other side of the conversation has helped you in your life.

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Word for the Day: Wednesday, February 6, 2013

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality.  And I firmly believe that communication works best, when both sides of it take part equally.  (As opposed to one side monopolizing the dialogue and/or intercourse).  And, like I've said before, Equal opportunity for all!

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Word for the Day: Tuesday, February 5, 2013

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence.  And the funny thing this week?  A derivation of this word (Prude) fits in with the strange connotations of one of the Themes for this week, Intercourse.  The correspondence is just about the same as how Teetotalism fits in with Alcoholic Beverages.

Monday, February 4, 2013

Word for the Day: Monday, February 4, 2013

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence.  And yes, innocent dialogue is most likely better than guilty dialogue (which I interpret as untruthful dialogue).

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Word for the Day: Sunday, February 3, 2013

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness.  Unfortunately, one of the main methods of communication between human beings is verbal dialogue.  The reason is that this gives people lots of opportunities to misunderstand each other.  And some communication glitches can get ugly!  (And this is especially true, if it includes the form of Intercourse that is generally thought of).  Which gives many opportunities for people to ask (and/or receive) forgiveness from each other.

Weekly Themes: Week of February 3-9, 2013

The Themes for this Week are Intercourse and Dialogue.  And guess what?  Even the form of Intercourse that is typically thought of is a form of dialogue.  But note that what I get, putting "define intercourse" into Google stresses "Communication or dealings between individuals or groups", with an example, "everyday social intercourse".

Saturday, February 2, 2013

Word for the Day: Saturday, February 2, 2013

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity.  And this ties in with our Theme well, because who doesn't prefer authentic humor?

Speaking of humor, the Weekly Theme, beginning tomorrow consists of two words, Intercourse and Dialogue.  So many connotations, and so little time.  :-)  (And the humor even goes farther with tomorrow's [Sunday's] Word, Forgiveness:  "Forgive my Dialogue about Intercourse"!)  Note:  I wanted to submit the jokes today, so that I can deal with tomorrow's descriptions with, at least a little bit of dignity.  :-)

Friday, February 1, 2013

Word for the Day: Friday, February 1, 2013

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation.  As I stated on Facebook, interpreting Humor can be a formidable task.

Note:  I'm currently building a database of my descriptions of these Themes (which re-occur every 49 weeks), and Words (which re-occur every 49 days).  When that is complete, I may start repeating descriptions from earlier.  Since this BLOG has been going on for an extended period, enough time has passed for me, myself, to have forgotten what I stated earlier on.  When this occurs, I'll include the original date.  (This database will also allow me to automate this Word for the Day service on my upcoming Universe website).
