Word for the Day: Friday, September 30, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Liberation. So, are we talking about Revelations of Liberation? Or getting Liberated, due to an Awesome Revelation? Or are we even thinking of (Horrors), "liberating" ourselves from getting Revelations at all? (Like, if you're a Paper Clip, why are you carrying on a conversation with a person, who is trying to write a letter to his spouse? I'm talking to you, Microsoft, who, back in 1998 or so, thought it was appropriate to let a Paper Clip get "Personal" with people who, often only wanted to send a note to a Friend).

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 29, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Wisdom. And I definitely consider wise Revelations, to be the best kind. By the way, even though some books help you develop wisdom, in my opinion, the best, as well as most efficient way, is Life Experience.

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 28, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Impartiality. A Revelation on the topic of Impartiality? An Impartial Revelation? I even wonder what the definition of the second would be? Passing through Channeled information, on topics you're not involved with? Feel free to comment on this. Thanks!

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 27, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Consequence. A Consequential Revelation? Or a Revelation of Consequences? A "Bible Book" [in the New Testament] that is CALLED Revelations, is DEFINITELY about Consequences. (Because you keep behaving this way, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will come and "get you"!) Just watch those Consequences, my friends!

Word for the day: Monday, September 26, 2016

This is what I posted on Facebook:  The Word for [ahem] Yesterday (Monday) was Elimination. And no, the "Word for the Day" wasn't "supposed" to go into a black hole, or some such. But do take care to eliminate things that stand in the way of a good life.
Nothing to change, really, except for that black hole thing...

Sunday, September 25, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 25, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. A Self-Reliant Revelation? A Revelation of Self-Reliance? You can certainly find worse!

Weekly Theme: Week of 9/25 to 10/01/2016

The Theme for this Week is Revelation.  Once again, according to Google, this denotes "a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way".  Dramatic?  Drama?  Yes:  "Revelation" has Biblical connotations to it, which are definitely dramatic.  Finally, how do many, current Revelations come about?  By the phenomena of Channeling, of course!

Saturday, September 24, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 24, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. An Expansive Philosophy? Or a Philosophy of Expansion. Watch out for the second one, by the way, as Intellectual, or Spiritual Expansion is fine, but expansion of the body (say, with lots of delicious food) can get uncomfortable. Be careful!

Friday, September 23, 2016

Words for the Day: Friday, September 23, 2016

The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. Do you have a Philosophy of Trust? Do you have Faith in your Philosophy? Last night, I attended a meeting, on the topic of Mental "Illness" (quotes, because I don't fully buy the premise). One theme, discussed was people not "trusting themselves". My response: If you don't trust yourself, who _DO_ you trust? For example, Psychiatrists have been known to violate trust. Often, for example, they are influenced by manufacturers of Psychiatric Medication. My point? Only you can live your life. So you are in charge, one way or another!

Thursday, September 22, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 22, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. What a Philosophy to have: Being thankful to those, who help you? You would think everyone would be that way but, when you look in the news, that does not seem to be the case. We even have a National holiday, honoring this attribute, "Thanksgiving" (at least, in the United States). And it comes on a Thursday, just as this Word always does. Just one more thing to be thankful for!

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 21, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. Here's a funny: "Philosophies of Equality" are NOT created equally! An intrusive philosophy might sound like, "if you know one of us, you know all of us". But a better approach might be a philosophy of, "equal opportunity for all".

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 20, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. You know the drill. Is it a Prudent Philosophy? Or how about a Philosophy of Prudence? Now either of these, simply imply "Practical", since Prudence is "Discretion, in a Practical manner". But Prudence also has a "slang" element, since people, who go overboard, are in danger of being labeled a "Prude".

Monday, September 19, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, September 19, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. A Philosophy of Innocence? Or an Innocent Philosophy? Surprisingly, these don't sound that far apart. Incidentally, my favorite "vision" of innocence is the "Innocence of Little Children".

Sunday, September 18, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 18, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. So how do these combine? "Forgive my Philosophy?" Actually, I like "a Philosophy of Forgiveness" much better. Just be careful, trying to Major in Philosophy in college!

Weekly Theme: Week of September 18-24, 2016

The Theme  for this Week is Philosophy.  So what  IS  Philosophy, besides a College Major for the, soon to be poverty stricken?  (Indeed, one web page, suggesting careers, for the Philosophy Major, went the other way, suggesting careers, that anybody could go for, even without a college education!)  So what value is there, for Philosophy?  How about the "deeper" studies, rarely found in colleges?  For example, Metaphysics and [non-religious] Spirituality?  And, indeed, Quantum Physics can lead to Philosophy, especially when getting into the "Multiple Worlds Theory".  So don't underestimate this topic!

Saturday, September 17, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 17, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. Teacher of Authenticity? Authentic Education? One form of "Certificate of Authenticity", for an Education, is the resulting Degree (i.e. Masters, or Ph.D., but there are others, such as Associate of Arts). You can even get Certificates of Authenticity, for those Dinner Plates you purchase from companies, such as The Franklin Mint. So how come we don't get Certificates of Authenticity for those Human Bodies we have to live with, all these years?

Friday, September 16, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, September 16, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. This works in both directions, as all Education is subject to Interpretation. In the other direction, one major course of study _IS_ Interpretation, an advanced form of Language Studies.

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 15, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. And what better environment, for social interaction, than an Educational one? In general, I consider in-person socialization to be better, in general, than "electronic socialization", like you find in frameworks, such as Facebook.

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 14, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. And a good level of focus and concentration is quite important, to getting a good Education. So keep that in mind.

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 13, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Acceptable Education? Teaching Acceptable Topics? Wow, how these Themes connect with these Words. But remember that the most important thing, for you, is to be acceptable to yourself.

Monday, September 12, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, September 12, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. In an educational setting, it shows up in the extras, such as what you can do, when you are not sitting in a classroom. Many teachers make themselves available for consultation, for example. But even taking a moment to explain things, at the "Blackboard" can be a form of generosity.

Sunday, September 11, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 11, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. The whole Basis of teaching, is to Share information with other people. So share, and share alike!

Weekly Themes: Week of September 11-17, 2016

The Themes for this Week are Education and Teaching.  Let's see:  "I got my education, because a number of people were willing to teach me"!  Yes, Education is a noun, but Teach is a verb.  Now, when I look up Education on Google, I first see the usual suspect, "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction".  But the second meaning is the one that excites me:  "an enlightening experience".  For this is what tells us that anything, on Earth (or even elsewhere) can teach you.  And another thing I've heard, is that we all are teachers for each other.  So learn well, this week!

Saturday, September 10, 2016

Words for the Day: Saturday, September 10, 2016

The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. Both of these (that make up the "big picture view") are quite important to learning a topic. In fact, in a way, it provides the very infrastructure for course retention.

Friday, September 9, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, September 9, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. I see two meanings, one about how a mirror works, and the other, having to do with deep thought (and related to both Review [Tuesday] and Study [Thursday]). And the deep variety of Reflection has a great deal to do, with retention of course material.

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 8, 2016

The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. Good, focused study can definitely help, in retaining the object of said study, of course. How do I now this? The opposite, like where I start with the topic at hand, and then take it down a "rabbit hole" into topics, never intended by the teacher of the course in question, often leads to poor grades, in the examinations, that you thought you were studying for. Careful, folks!

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

Word for the Day: Wednesday, September 7, 2016

The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. So, if you are a sponge, you "retain what you absorb!" What could be simpler? So how do you absorb? I hear it all the time: "Keep your eyes and ears open, and your mouth shut!" And for those, studying the Michael Teachings, this marks "Observation Mode".

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Word for the Day: Tuesday, September 6, 2016

The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. In an academic scenario, review can be crucial to retention of course materials. Review is also great, for everyday life:  All the way from reviewing a shopping list, to reviewing your life, when you die.

Monday, September 5, 2016

Word for the Day: Monday, September 5, 2016

The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. A good example of a school class with (at least ideally) lab work is Chemistry. And being able to conduct your own experiments, to gain understanding of how our chemicals react with each other is an excellent way to retain the course material.

Sunday, September 4, 2016

Word for the Day: Sunday, September 4, 2016

The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. So do we retain the ability to recognize, or recognize the ability to retain? Both of these sound a bit "silly", but recognition requires memory, which is the basis for retention. And what is the basis for memory? The high-powered Supercomputer, known as your Brain, of course!

Weekly Theme: Week of September 4-10, 2016

The Theme for this Week is Retention.  The first thing that pops up, when plugging "define retention" into Google is, "the continued possession, use, or control of something".  But what comes up next might be more telling:  "the fact of keeping something in one's memory".  Because what do we all own, and (supposedly) have full control over?  A brain, with extensive storage capabilities, known as "memory".  Now, I never actually Took an Evelyn Woods Speed Reading course, but was able to browse the "student guide" from it, once.  An important concept was, that it's not so important "how fast" you can read a book, but how fast you can read it, and retain what you read!  So retain what you learn, and return in the morning!  :-)

Saturday, September 3, 2016

Word for the Day: Saturday, September 3, 2016

The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. One of my favorite sentences on this subject: "I resolve to never lose my resolve". Nothing like the same word being both a noun and a verb. When we bring in our Theme, we find that it's a good idea to Preserve the best, of your yearly Resolutions. In other words, don't just "make New Years Resolutions", only to forget them on January 2nd!

Friday, September 2, 2016

Word for the Day: Friday, September 2, 2016

The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. So are we trying to "preserve our courage" (whatever that might mean), or are we, instead, developing the courage to preserve (something)? Some things are, of course, harder to preserve than others. Like, for example, preserving an Ice Sculpture might be difficult, even to almost impossible, in certain climates.

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Word for the Day: Thursday, September 1, 2016

The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. Do you know your own Strength? Do you feel Empowered? Do you want to Preserve all of this? Of course, people will tell you to join an athletic club, but that's not the whole picture. Even when discussing physical strength, there is room for Yoga. But remember that these Words aren't all about physicality. For example, there is a "Strength of Will". You could also feel empowered, to hold up your end of a conversation. Good luck, folks!
