Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 31, 2021
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. An Acceptable Addiction? (Aren't we all "Addicted" to Air and Water?) But other Addictions are "tolerated" also, such as Nicotine and Caffeine. But does that make them Acceptable?
Monday, August 30, 2021
Word for the Day: Monday, August 30, 2021
The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. Being Generous with your Addiction? (Not so fast!) But being Generous with help to counter Addictions is another thing completely. And quite good.
Sunday, August 29, 2021
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 29, 2021
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. Sharing your Addiction? (Please, not that way). Instead, let's Share ways of overcoming our Addictions. And there are many of them.
Weekly Theme: Week of 8/29 to 9/04/2021
The Theme for this Week is Addiction. What does it mean to be Addicted? "Compulsive Physiological need for [something]..." The problem with this is that, if taken only like this, we would all be "Addicted" to Air and Water. But the "Something" is modified as a "Habit-Forming Substance", with examples given of Heroin and Nicotine. And yes, we should all be careful of this.

Words for the Day: Saturday, August 28, 2021
The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. A Simple Overview can give you a good Perspective on life. And Google says that Perspective is "a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view". Isn't that Simple enough?
Friday, August 27, 2021
Word for the Day: Friday, August 27, 2021
The Word for Today (Friday) is Aspiration. "I Aspire to be Simple". (Okay, but then what?) Sometimes these don't go together well -- In which case I Simply suggest that you Aspire to be the best that you can be.
Thursday, August 26, 2021
Word for the Day: Thursday, August 26, 2021
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. There is a Simple way to describe Contrast: Too little Contrast can feel Boring, yet too MUCH Contrast can get, downright Scary. Simplicity itself.
Wednesday, August 25, 2021
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Absorption. Simple Absorption? [or] Absorbing Simplicity? (Not the same at all). How about becoming a "Simple Sponge"? That's one way to Absorb. Maybe not Simple, though.
Tuesday, August 24, 2021
Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 24, 2021
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Review. After the Experiments come the Review, where you account for what occurred in the Experiments. Did they go well, or did you (literally or figuratively) break the Glassware? Do you understand what happened or are you likely to get a bad grade? Does any of this Matter?
Word for the Day: Monday, August 23, 2021
The Word for Today (Monday) is Experimentation. A Simple Experiment? (As opposed to a Complicated one?) My feeling is that Life, itself is an Experiment. So why not try different things here and there?
Sunday, August 22, 2021
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 22, 2021
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Recognition. Simple Recognition? [or] Recognition of Simplification? (Both: Not the same). And it can be great to Recognize a Friend that I see, while walking down the sidewalk. Simple as that.
Weekly Theme: Week of August 22-28, 2021
The Theme for this Week is Simplification. So, are we going to have a "Simple Week"? Not necessarily, based on how Themes and Words work. For example, they often point out what you might need to work on. But look for the Simple / Complex dichotomy in the News. That's often where I find these Words and Themes.
Saturday, August 21, 2021
Word for the Day: Saturday, August 21, 2021
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Resolve. Sacrificing your Resolve? (No!) But this is a good time to remember that Resolutions can be made any time in a year.
Friday, August 20, 2021
Word for the Day: Friday, August 20, 2021
The Word for Today (Friday) is Courage. Sacrificing Courage? (Please don't). [or] The Courage to Sacrifice? (107 Million Google hits). One thing to be careful of: Courage and Foolhardiness are two different things. For example, there is a Reckless quality to being Foolhardy. Courage usually avoids that.
Thursday, August 19, 2021
Words for the Day: Thursday, August 19, 2021
The Words for Today (Thursday) are Strength and Empowerment. A Strong Sacrifice that Empowers you? (Not sure). But Strength and Empowerment stand on their own also. Know your Strength, and feel Empowered.
Wednesday, August 18, 2021
Word for the Day: Wednesday, August 18, 2021
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Competence. Sacrificing Competence? (And do what?) [or] Competent to Sacrifice? (Well, This has 66.9 million hits on Google, with the top article being on "Extreme Altruism in a Pandemic"). But the best question to ask yourself is, "Are you Competent to be Yourself?"
Word for the Day: Tuesday, August 17, 2021
The Word for Yesterday (Tuesday) was Endurance. If you survived, you endured. And you might have made some Sacrifices along the way. But Endurance is something to develop and maintain, using a number of tools, such as Health Clubs, Exercise, proper sleep patterns and, maybe even Yoga. And have fun doing it.
Monday, August 16, 2021
Word for the Day: Monday, August 16, 2021
The Word for Today (Monday) is Fertility. A Fertile Sacrifice? (12.5 million hits on Google, but then the words are separated). But Sacrificing your Fertility is one way to describe refusing a family situation for, say, a Career. It's a choice many people make, and can be a tough one.
Sunday, August 15, 2021
Word for the Day: Sunday, August 15, 2021
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Stability. And be careful about Sacrificing your Stability, as a Stable Situation allows for other forms of Sacrifice (such as less needed belongings or some of your time). But be careful to not overdo it, such that you lose something vital.
Weekly Theme: Week of August 15-21, 2021
The Theme for this Week is Sacrifice. I find it interesting that, for both the Noun and Verb, Google gives a Biblical Definition first (i.e. Animal Sacrifices in the Old Testament). But we sacrifice other things also. For example, during my Computer Jobs, I was asked, several times, to Sacrifice my Home Life, so as to be able to complete a Project sooner. In other words, we Sacrifice smaller "items", in order to acquire or keep larger "items" (i.e. objects or our time). Just be careful to not overdo it.
