Word for the Day: Thursday, August 8, 2013
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Study. And believe it or not, you can discover things through study. Especially if you pick a topic you can be excited about, and perhaps, one that is not commonly studied. For example, I learned a lot about San Francisco history by studying microfilms of old newspapers. One example: Mt. Vesuvius erupted on April 7, 1906, just 11 days before the April 18, 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. (Just the day before the Earthquake, the newspapers were telling people how to donate to volcano relief). My personal suspicion is that the volcano eruption might have caused vibrations in the Earth's crust that helped trigger the San Andreas Fault.
