Word for the Day: Thursday, August 16, 2012
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Contrast. In this week's Themes, people use Imagination to Compose stories. These may be "pure fiction", or adaptations of true events. Contrast is an important part of composing stories. Why? Because, in general, too little makes the story "boring" (or, at least, less interesting), yet too much decreases the believability of the story. An example of the latter is a story, perhaps a movie, that is high on "special effects", but low on "plot development". An example (in my opinion) of a movie, with lots of contrast, but also lots of story, including philosophy, is "The Matrix".
