Word for the Day: Sunday, March 31, 2013
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Self-Reliance. Principled self-reliance? Self-reliant ethics? My take is what I said in the prior post: I am in charge of my own Code of Ethics. (It does take into account moral and secular law, however).
Weekly Themes: Week of 3/31 - 4/062013
The Themes for this Week are Principles and Ethics. These both provide the foundation for who you are -- sort of like defining your "moral fiber". I am firmly in favor of having a "personal code of ethics". Those who think I shouldn't say things like, "just follow the Bible -- it 's all you need". However, different parts of the Bible don't quite correspond with each other. For example, compare the book of Leviticus and the book of Luke. Please note that the current "secular laws" are good to keep track of, also. One reason? The Monopoly card, "Get Out of Jail Free" doesn't always work in real life.

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 30, 2013
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Expansion. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Spiritual expansion is great. However, expansion "around the middle", due to "overdose of delicious food", now so much, because you then might need to salvage physical self-image.

Words for the Day: Friday, March 29, 2013
The Words for Today (Friday) are Trust and Faith. In God, I trust. I also have faith in God. Other people, a bit more complex. To bring in our Themes, salvaging trust, if it is violated, is a very complex topic. For example, earning back that trust is a long, and hard process. Take a look at our criminal justice system: It's often not enough to say, "I'm sorry, and promise I won't do it again".

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 28, 2013
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Gratitude. Let's tie this to our Theme: If you've "won salvation", or "had your soul salvaged", it absolutely sounds like something to be thankful for!
Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 27, 2013
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Equality. Let's see: Theme? Salvage equality? Equal opportunity salvation?
Actually, equal opportunity sounds like a good thing to salvage. Thanks!

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 26, 2013
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Prudence. If you are ever in the position to, say, salvage a ship from a river or lake, please do it prudently. Your life might depend on it! :-)

Word for the Day: Monday, March 25, 2013
The Word for Today (Monday) is Innocence. I see a fascinating connection with our Themes: The defense, in a court case, is an attempt to salvage innocence. What do you think?
Sunday, March 24, 2013
Word for the Day: Sunday, March 24, 2013
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Forgiveness. When coupled with our Themes, one thing that helps is Forgiveness, because that can include salvaging relationships with others, or forgiving yourself, if you've sinned (which helps with salvation).
Weekly Themes: Week of March 24-30, 2013
The Themes for this Week are Salvage and Salvation. Both of these words include a "root" meaning of rescue. However, Salvage often is used for objects, such as sunken ships. But Salvation tends to be used with people in mind, such as Deliverance from harm, which can include self-inflicted harm, caused by sin.

Word for the Day: Saturday, March 23, 2013
The Word for Today (Saturday) is Authenticity. This week's had a difficult theme, because lots of people struggle with addictions. But keep it up, because the more you heal addictive behavior, the more authentic you come across to other people.

Word for the Day: Friday, March 22, 2013
The Word for Today (Friday) is Interpretation. How could anybody interpret our Theme, Addiction? It certainly shows how a behavior and/or a substance can take over a lifetime. And one way to tie our Word with our Theme is how helpful awareness can be of how your life is going. Because my own interpretation of addiction is that it turns off awareness.

Word for the Day: Thursday, March 21, 2013
The Word for Today (Thursday) is Socialization. This connects with Addiction (our Theme), because support groups, that address addiction often include time for socializing. Also, people can connect, who can work together to heal the addiction.
Wednesday, March 20, 2013
Word for the Day: Wednesday, March 20, 2013
The Word for Today (Wednesday) is Concentration. And how does this relate to our Theme (Addiction)? Well, it seems you "get" what you concentrate on. Another way to state this: What do you make a priority in your life? Because these priorities tend to make up your life. So look carefully at your priorities.

Word for the Day: Tuesday, March 19, 2013
The Word for Today (Tuesday) is Acceptability. Is addiction acceptable? Are you comfortable with having a substance (i.e. tobacco or alcohol) or a behavior (i.e. gambling) ruling your life? If an addiction becomes a priority, other aspects of life (i.e. job and family) can suffer. Just a word to the wise.

Word for the Day: Monday, March 18, 2013
The Word for Today (Monday) is Generosity. And please note that I do not mean to "be generous with your addictions"! But if you look at the Word separately, Generosity helps the world go around. And I absolutely recommend random acts of generosity!

Word for the Day: Sunday, March 17, 2013
The Word for Today (Sunday) is Sharing. And the "tie-in" between this and our Theme is problematical, because one might think you're "supposed" to "share your addictions". My feeling, however, is that it's better to share ways to overcome addictions or, at least, to share your experiences, such that you can work together with others to overcome these "pesky addictions".
Weekly Theme: Week of March 17-23, 2013
The Theme for this Week is Addiction. When I have any questions about the meaning of a word, my favorite source is Wikipedia, which has a great definition for addiction. The problem here, is that many lives are ruined by being addicted to alcohol, tobacco, drugs (whether street or prescription), food, or gambling. (And this list isn't even complete).
Please note that these Themes correspond to Global Jobs, in the Michael Teachings, which brings up a great question about why someone would choose such a "job". My feeling is that this would be chosen, so that you could teach others how to overcome addictions.

Words for the Day: Saturday, March 16, 2013
The Words for Today (Saturday) are Overview and Perspective. A good way to simplify reality, or a project you are involved with, is to understand the big picture, via an "Executive Summary".
Friday, March 15, 2013
Word for the Day: Friday, March 15, 2013
The Word for Today (Friday) is Reflection. The simplest meaning of reflection is to ask you to look in a mirror. What do you see? Yourself reflected from the other side of that mirror. Make it more complex and you get, from one side, the book, "Through the Looking Glass", by Lewis Carroll, where you can see that life is quite different on the "other side" of the mirror. The other side is where we are told we "mirror other people".
